See if this rings a bell:

In a state we call Kentucky
One February morn,
In a rude and lonely cabin
A baby boy was born.
How his momma must have loved him
From the time he was a babe.
For she taught him truth and justice
Folks called him Honest Abe.

Amazing I can remember that after going on 60 years. I must have early stage Alzheimer's or something. But it has a bouncy beat and you can see the historical context, born in a log cabin in the "wilderness" (at the time), etc. The part about "his momma loved him" used to make me tear up (kids think of their moms when they are youngsters in school).

But, I agree, having songs of praise sung by schoolchildren to a sitting President is very Orwellian and scary. I was in grade school when John Kennedy died and I don't recall this kind of adulation. We talked about him, sure, but there was never this degree of magnification and cultification as there seems to be for Obamism.

Nice Ditty, but not what I was thinking about. It was something in the context of Lincoln and Washington's Birthdays (remember when they were actually celebrated, rather than "President's Day" which is now largely ignored?).

Meh, no matter. May have even been something that the teacher just made up.

And you're right re: Obamaism = A Cult. You hit that one right on the head. Politics and Kids don't mix, ever.
