As you can tell by the time lapsed photography above, yesterday's 9/12 Tea Party rally in Washington, D.C. far exceeded all expectations. Estimates by local authorities report 1.2 million people attended the rally ABC (and Fox News), said the crowd was nearly double that, with an estimated 2 million people in attendance.
As late as the day before the march the White House claimed they had no idea the rally was even planned, which just seems silly as the event was six months in the making, the news was all over the internet (and Fox news), there was a bus driving all across the country, drawing huge crowds, leading up to the rally and there were permits gotten from the organizers. It just shows how dismissive the Obama administration and the Democrat-led Congress are of the growing dissatisfaction in the country.
Now that they have "noticed" the progressives are making going to minimalize yesterday's two million visitors . They will continue to call them, Tea Baggers, Nazis, Right Wing fringe, and AstroTurf. But if they don't believe that it is an expression of main stream America they have lost touch with reality.
David Axelrod, the AstroTurf king, is a great example of someone who just doesn't get it:

Just got home from walking the dog and my wife told me she ran into a friend who mentioned she and her husband (big liberals) had driven up to D.C. yesterday to check out the museums...they didn’t know anything was going on up there yesterday. Smiled at the thought of what they must have seen and said nothing.
Even if this is true, why would you admit that? Doesn't that call into question whether you are on top of things?
Even from a PR perspective alone, statements coming out of the WH are alarmingling clueless ... let alone if they really didn't know.

Major Garrett should confront Gibbs with this response and if Gibbs says they were aware but did not choose to openly acknowledge it then he should ask if they were lying when they gave their response?
Another bald faced lie. People have to obtain a permit to assemble in D.C. from the National Park Service. That information is provided to the Secret Service and passed to the White House Secret Service detail as part of their daily security duties.
As clueless as this administration is I wouldn't discount their ignorance of this. Eight months in and it's still Amatuer Hour at the WH.

They know and don’t think they aren’t very HIGHLY concerned....2 million was a fraction of the people throughout the USA...we’re probably talking of at least 100 million who stand with the 2 million who made to DC.
