I was reading the Chrons piece about Sheila Jackson Lees town hall, when something caught my eye:
One supporter, Dr. Roxana Mayer, a physician who does not live in Jackson Lees district, praised the reform plan for overhauling a broken system.
I dont know what there is in the bill that creates such panic, she said.
In this video, Mayer claims to be a general practitioner, eliciting applause and even a hug from Queen Sheila:
Im not sure why, but something didnt smell right. So my colleagues and I did a little digging, and wouldnt you know it? Roxana Mayer is, like, totally not a doctor.
But she is an Obama campaign volunteer.
Our own David Jennings secured a phone interview, in which Mayer admitted to impersonating a physician, saying get this she thought it would help her credibility. (It didnt.)
Now heres where it spins off into a whole new dimension of weird. See the bug-eyed woman seated behind not-doctor Mayer?
ANOTHER PLANT IN THE BACKGROUND?
BTW, it is also against law to impersonate a military officer, police officer, etc. Yet, no one is arrested for merely claiming to be such.
this thread should be in front page news?
>We need a repository thread to link all of the plant threads.<
yes we do, there are a lot. it is despicable that he resorts to these tactics, a perpetual campaign trail for this guy.
I wonder what kind of spam filters they have on that address.
This varies by State. For example:
Ga. Code 16-10-23 “A person who falsely holds himself out as a peace officer or other public officer or employee with intent to mislead another into believing that he is actually such officer commits the offense of impersonating an officer and, upon conviction thereof, shall be punished by a fine of not more than $1,000.00 or by imprisonment for not less than one nor more than five years, or both.”
“DOES NOT REQUIRE VICTIM BE MISLED. —Defendant’s contention that, because the victims never believed that defendant was a police officer, the evidence was insufficient to support a conviction of impersonating a police officer was without merit because the crime does not require that the victims actually be misled.”
Bump. Great article!
"I also am not a lawyer, but it seems pretty clear to me the law is INTENDED to address fraudulently representing oneself as an MD for medical purposes." - As you openly admit that you are not an attorney it might be wise to not pretend that you can give legal opinions. - Incidentally people are arrested and prosecuted for impersonating law enforcement officers and military officers quite often - - If you doubt this - feel free to contact attorney Mark Levin - who just happens to be a FReeper holdonnow Mark is often known as F. Lee Levin on El Rushbo's show..... |

Just wow. Once again, thank you EdReform for the heads up on this one.
