Sarah Palin Is Pro Amnesty For Illegal Aliens - Univision Interview [Old news, 2008]
Diggers Realm ^ | October 24, 2008

Posted on 08/09/2009 6:56:23 PM PDT by RebelYell1990

Sarah Palin finally came out and made her stance on illegal immigration clear. She is pro amnesty for illegal aliens. In an interview to Univision she stated unequivocally that she is for a pathway to citizenship. In the same interview she says she is against amnesty for illegal aliens. Have your cake and eat it to, I think that is called.

Back on the same day that John McCain chose Sarah Palin as his vice-presidential candidate I started investigating Palin's past on illegal immigration. I invited others to send in anything they found. There was nothing on the record. Many did write in and said that Laura Ingraham said that one time she was talking to Palin and she said she was against amnesty. That was the only statement anywhere that could be found.

Now we know that she is against amnesty, all the while she is for it with a "pathway to citizenship".

You see this is what is wrong with these people. They think they can be on both sides of the issue at once and that simply isn't possible. You are either against amnesty or you are not. If you are for a pathway to citizenship for those who have illegally entered our country then you are pro-amnesty as you have virtually absolved them of all of their illegality.

People have bashed me for questioning "the Palin". They wrote in to say that obviously she is against illegal immigration. This was all wishful thinking and like so many other issues that the politicians have avoided, until they take a clear stance don't assume anything (and even then, if they're only saying it look at their record).

Sarah Palin is in lock-step with John McCain when it comes to amnesty for illegal aliens. Her answers are almost indistinguishable from McCain's, Obama's or even the most pro-illegal alien congressman in the house, Luis Gutierrez, for that matter.

Read it and weep.

Univision

Univision: Governor, let me ask you about immigration. How many undocumented immigrants are there in Alaska? Sarah Palin: I don't know, I don't know. That's a good question.

Univision: As governor, how do you deal with them? Do you think they all should be deported? Sarah Palin: There is no way that in the US we would roundup every illegal immigrant - there are about 12 million of the illegal immigrants - not only economically is that just an impossibility but that's not a humane way anyway to deal with the issue that we face with illegal immigration.

Univision: Do you then favor an amnesty for the 12 or 13 million undocumented immigrants? Sarah Palin: No, I do not. I do not. Not total amnesty. You know, people have got to follow the rules. They've got to follow the bar, and we have got to make sure that there is equal opportunity and those who are here legally should be first in line for services being provided and those opportunities that this great country provides.

Univision: To clarify, so you support a path to citizenship for undocumented immigrants? Sarah Palin: I do because I understand why people would want to be in America. To seek the safety and prosperity, the opportunities, the health that is here. It is so important that yes, people follow the rules so that people can be treated equally and fairly in this country.

...

Univision: What is your strategy? How are you planning to win the latino vote? Sarah Palin: I will tell you, I wish that there were more hours in the day so that we can get out there and to more of the communities with such the strong Latino vote that is out there and really tell them that we desire to work for them. We are asking them to hire us and let us work for them.

Sickening we can't find a real leader in this country who cares about Americans first.

Obviously, the newbie who posted this "new article" posted this because out of the great concern he has for us conservatives, to warn us about Sarah Palin, and down with her head!

I've been around these parts for too long and I instinctively know how to distinguish phonies from the real thing.

Posting an old article from when she was running as McCain's VP?  Why doesn't this idiot find out what Sarah Palin says now?

Anyway, I had a long trip back from Rome and I am dead tired for this crap.  Hey, not you, Rabs. I always enjoyed your pings. :-)

Good night.

...”You can’t go about trashing your running mate in a presidential election, with just 2 seeks to go to the elections.”...

I question her judgment in having accepted the invitation to BE his running mate...if it meant having to lie or mislead us about her position...especially when it was very clear to everyone where he stood on this issue.

And with your support we now have Obama. Thanks.

If that's support for Obama you're implying, I challenge you to find the exact thread and post where I explicitly supported Obama.

Otherwise, STFU.

Wireplay sounds a lot like one of those Atzlan or La Raza types that says European colonists were illegal immigrants. Is that really something we should hear from someone who claims to be a conservative

How much do you pay Free Republic for the right to post here? Donated recently to the site?

Also, please tell me, what is a conservative since you seem to have designated yourself as one? When was the last time you read the Constitution for example? Do you even understand the history/laws surrounding this issue or any other Constitutional issue for that matter or is it only what you read on blogs?

We’re going to inter and then transfer 70,000 to 2 million people and the rest will just run away. OK. Good luck with that.

You can't go about trashing your running mate in a presidential election, with just 2 seeks to go to the elections..unless you like committing suicide.

Obviously, Juan McCain didn't get the memo until only recently.

rabscuttle385, Truer words have rarely been spoken. McCain and the people he surrounded himself with were incredibly unkind to Sarah Palin during and after the election. It says a lot about him.

I am reserving judgment about Sarah Palin as a viable candidate, though (viable = someone I would vote for).

I question Palin's judgment on several issues, among them her choice of running with John McCain in the first place. As my dad would have said, "We are known by the company we keep".

Immigration is another issue, based on this interview from last year (why is this being brought up now, btw? Didn't we discuss it then? It's in no way "new" news).

Federal funding for special needs children is yet another issue. I've read things that led me to think that she was/is in favor of increased federal funding for special needs children.

As hard as it may seem, people with a bedrock understanding of conservatism will have the courage to avoid the trap of being in favor of increased federal funding, especially on issues that tug at the heart strings.

I await clarification before committing.

Ya mean you didn't support the "king of amnesty" that had a running mate that was allegedly in total disagreement with him?

lol...

That poster may be for amnesty, but I'm not. And as I told you earlier, Sarah as quoted in this article, NEVER said that she was for amnesty. Now if you have other quotes that show that Sarah is for amnesty, then by all means produce it. Else, you have proved nothing and this thread is just another anti Sarah BS thread.

My comments are based on the article. Read it.

I already read the quotes in the article and my comment is based on the quotes. As I said, Sarah as quoted in this article, NEVER said that she was for amnesty.

You are spreading false information.

When you do find direct evidence that Sarah is for amnesty, give me a ping, okay?

I’m not afraid of a damn thing. I just find it kind of odd that someone would rehash an old story back from October 2008 when she was McCain’s running mate. If you think I don’t know what is going on here your fooling yourself. Sarah comes out against ObamaCare, you hate the fact that she is getting this media attention, so you go after her by rehashing an OLD STORY.
Anything Sarah said during the campaign, cannot be taken as her position per say. She was talking on behalf of McCain and his agenda. If you want to know what Sarah’s position is on any particular issue you have to wait to hear it from her.

And since Sarah stated BEFORE she became McCain’s running mate that she was AGAINST amnesty for illegals she was saying this on behalf of McCain. Now if she comes out later on and says the same thing, well, that is a different story. I don’t pass judgment on anyone til I hear it from their own mouth. If she said tomorrow she was for amnesty, then I would absolutely disagree with her, just because I am a fan of hers doesn’t mean I would support every decision she makes. But this was posted tonight not out of concern about illegal immigration, COME ON, LETS BE ADULT here, this was done to marginalize her because she came out swinging against Obama and your afraid she will become more popular because of it

wireplay is a Lindsey Graham Republican.

Nope. Not even a Republican: I quit the party last year due to McCain and Graham. Voted for Sarah I did and proud of it.

Nice try but another ad hominem. You guys should really take a class in forensics, history, law, something.

That's why I like computers: at least they are logical and make sense.

Reagan got punked? Are you smoking crack?

No Tempest, I don't use drugs.

Maybe it's the word "punked" you don't like. That's fine, how about bamboozled or blindsided? His fault was in believing the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986 would be enforced and in not insisting on securing our borders before signing the Act into law.

Ronald Reagan was and remains one of our greatest presidents, but none have been faultless.

Reagan Would Not Repeat Amnesty Mistake

I didn't write the article slick. Ya might take your beef up with the author.

Do you always support a platform/candidates where one is in complete disagreement with the other?

You can divide the posters.
Third Party loons and their Liberal troll supporters.

Knee jerkers, post before they find out what the poster is about and his agenda.

Those who just hate Conservative Republicans

Adult posters who have the facts to counter the poster’s
opinions and propaganda.

Haven't touched it in 20+ years but I did inhale and have no qualms.

Programming is a challenge, especially late at night. Freeping provides an outlet to do something that ISN'T so logical.

I would love to debate some of these folks face-to-face rather than with the anonimity of a keyboard.
