As Americans lose more confidence in the economy, retailers who are already hurting may be facing a gloomy back-to-school shopping season. The worries about the job market is making them more cautious about spending money. This means fewer jobs for those hoping to pick up at least part time work in the retail market.

But but but Obama just said employment was improving and stuff and things and hope and change and let’s spend 900 billion on taking over your healthcare.
Baraq: good for Wall Street but not for Main Street!
Sounds like a good campaign line for the Republicans.
This is likely what it is going to take to get the liberal voters attention - no jobs, no money.
The sad part is that this country has lost more jobs than every job that was created after the depression... and those jobs won’t be coming back. Companies who want to remain competitive have gone overseas to escape the obamanation socialist agenda... People with money who don’t intend to fund the counterfeit pres. socialist dream have gone elsewhere.
They were moving long before the obamanation, he is just another nail in the coffin.
I guess I just wasn’t aware of it then. I knew that a lot of call centers were relocated, but that’s about it.
Hope and Change!
Wait a second, Newsweek said that the recession was over...
Things aren't getting better, no matter how they try to spin it.
There have been stories for years about whole factories being loaded onto railroad cars, loaded onto freighters in Long Beach, taken to China, and reassembled.
Think about all the things you used to be able to buy that were “Made in America”, now “Made in China” or “Made in Japan” or “Made in Vietnam” or “Made in Mexico”.
your right. Actually since January, I’ve been trying to buy only things made in the US and I can’t.... Anything that is a resonable cost, is made overseas. And, unlike the linens and things from years ago from Ireland, they aren’t even good quality anymore. The little boutiques that sell the local items are way over priced...
I'd like to have your thoughts on this.
I don’t know what to do about it ... I’m kind of in the market for a used full-sized pickup myself.
actually, we have favored German made cars for ever... mostly because of the safety and strength of them and they last and last. Some of our younger family have been happy with the Mazda’s, which they began buying about about 12 years ago..one had a 929 that was an absolute jewel..never needed service except for routine and ran it’s heart out.. don’t know how they compare today.
I hate the Unions. I feel like they are lower on the food chain than pimps. Also, I believe they were responsible for lowering the American car workers’ work ethic. Saying that, I surely can understand why the obmanation loves the unions.
anyway, the America as we knew it is only in the history books. I wish it would walk off the pages of history again
BMW has a plant in SC. My next car will be a Lexus which has eight plants here, I think. I just refuse to buy the junk that comes out of Detroit.
Since the States pay out unemployment checks, it would be to everyone’s advantage for individual States to create a semi-permanent job fair “plus” for the unemployed.
The idea would be to have a central gathering place so that the unemployed could get sub-minimum wage work that would enhance their unemployment check, not kill it. That is, work while being unemployed.
Alternatively, the work would not be for extra money, but to extend their State unemployment payments. This is a “treading water” approach when there are no jobs available.
Back when Clinton & Crew were touting NAFTA, they bragged about the amount of exports going to Mexico. Some smart people looked into the "exports" and found out the govt. was including the value of the factories, or parts thereof, that were being shipped down there.
revolutionary.....
I guess in the big picture of things, this had to happen....how can Americans be buying so much out of their price range, multiple cars, vacation homes, etc.....
sure, there are plenty of rich people out there, but mostly people are not rich yet seem to think they can live rich....
if we as a nation learn to make our own suppers, pack lunchs, play cards instead of going out drinking and dining, patch our clothes to last longer, and fix our own cars, and save, and pray.......now that would be a revolution....
they were very close to taking my husbands old plant to China....lock, stock, and barrel.....
