I wish someone had passed down the story of where she hid it. They just said that she did.

If you have the opportunity to look, find outbuildings, or their remains/foundations, and check for loose stones. Use a metal detector when possible, but do not completely rely on that. Do the same in the basement or foundation of the house if it is made of rock.

Grannies commonly puttered around flowerbeds, and those made for a good hiding place.

Closet ceilings, knee walls, floors, loose (check to see if it slides) ceiling/floorboards or base/mopboards. Think of where she spent a lot of time in the house, and you may have the convenient place. Any capped off flue ports to a chimney should be investigated as well, though that might get messy.

Use your imagination, and try to put yourself in granny's shoes. It should be secure from view and the probability of being accidentally discovered but fairly readily accessible in the event she could take it with her on short notice.

A lot depends on how much whe was hiding and how big it was, and she may have had more than one 'stash' spot as well.

“I am trying to figure out the best way to hide silver.”

Why would you want to hide the Lone Ranger’s horse?

I don’t think he’d fit in the outhouse or of the other places suggested so far.
