Advancing in another direction.
Thank you. Your post on campaigning for other office while still holding a current one is dead on. I have been saying this since Friday and am shocked that almost none of the Republican pundits can see this. They just can’t get past conventional politics.
I’m taking the “wait and see” approach to her resignation. There is a lot of potential upside and some potential downside as well. She took a risk, but it was a calculated risk and I think she knows what she’s doing. Nonetheless, for right now I am looking for someone drama-free. I come back again and again to Jim DeMint. He’s a solid guy, and could really motivate conservatives. I will say one thing too, no matter how much flak he might catch from liberals, he’s not going anywhere. One thing to learn from McCain - besides not being a RINO - is that a disciplined campaign is always the way to go. You don’t “suspend” your campaign in some wacky stunt. It’s a long, long race to White House and you have to be cautious and take very calculated risks when risks are necessary.
I’m ready to march.
She strategically handed the reins to her lieutenant governor to avoid the frivolous attacks on her that will necessarily harm her state. That’s honorable, not weak.
And now she can do whatever she wants to do in furtherance of conservative goals. You can listen to what she said in her speech and you can listen to her detractors, but you can’t believe both. It’s each individual’s responsibility to decide what to believe. I believe the governor.
Of course not, they would be whacking themselves in the face with their own Hypocrisy. That leaves a mark. There are FEW politicians who can take this stand and make it stick. Sarah is one of them.
Palin too big to fail!
hehe
He was on “Red Eye” and commented he takes his laptop to public restrooms and surfs for porn while sitting in a stall. Yep - a typical looney, immoral liberal.
This feels almost eeriely like those moments in between the day McCain picked her and that awesome speech she gave at the Republican National Convention.
The media was doubting her. Bill OReilly was saying she had little credibility. Peggy Noonan was cursing. The media was underestimating her.
Isnt it ironic. Sarah is the most popular figure in America right now. She is several thousand miles from Washington, D.C. As far away from the District of Columbia as you can possibly get. and she is no longer going to be in government. yet it feels like she is closer to the White House than any Republican on the planet. fitting for our times.
“Theres no upside to this. She gave the rats a loaded gun to use on her and they will and it will work. Theyll say shes a quitter...unreliable...undependable.”
Maybe. I wish she had at least finished her first term, but stranger things have happened. This country elected Barack Obama (and re-elected Bill Clinton). If she raises cash, helps other candidates get elected and successfully articulates conservative principals, her early resignation may be a distant memory in three years.
I agree. I think due to the media reaction and the fact that Republican pundits get eaten alive by the left, she is going to take a hit. I think it will be short term though.
I think Sarah Pac numbers are going to tell us a lot If they’re huge then the Republicans are going to change their tune
I have B.A. in Politics with a concentration in International Relations and a Masters in International Relations. ANY Questions?
The only people buying what Sarah was selling the other day was about 500 people here on Free Republic. Many are taking a wait and see approach and many more recognize the fact that she just committed political suicide. You can cheer lead for her all you want but you probably couldn't get her elected the Mayor of Wasilla again.
Maybe, but I doubt it. I really like Sarah too but I think this was real bone headed move.

Do you have 50 cents? ‘Cause that and .50 will get you a cup of coffee.
Sorry that sounded a bit mean-spirited.
.50 cents? You’re showing your age. It’s at least $1.50.
LOL...not at all. I only mentioned my degrees in response to the previous posters snarky reference. First time in 11 years here that I ever mentioned them because they did NOTHING for my career. I had a blast while I was earning them but I wish I'd learned something useful like basket weaving or pottery making instead.
I’m not so sure, it certainly sounds impressive.
Palin's detractors, who are scared to death of her, both in the Dem party and in Republican party "progressives", wanted her to remain a stationary target in the Alaska Governors office.
Palin has seized the initiative, and dang, the hornets are ALL stirred up! How dare she resign, She is a quitter, hasn't got what it takes , all are among the scurrilous diatribes that frequent the MSM.
Sarah is about to launch from somewhere in the lower USA. I am staying tuned and stocking up on popcorn. Palin has just proven that she is a brilliant strategist, and has again, left critics without a target! How dare she disappear! How dare she remove herself from our shooting range!
Whether Sarah continues to seek the presidency or not, I laud her decision. It is one that any ordinary American would make, after the frivolous ethics complaints ( over 15), act of arson ( her community church burned), personal threats from whacko leftists, and continued pillorying she has received in the MSM, all for naught. She remains extraordinarily popular with over 53% of Americans, and this will increase now. This vexes the opposition and the MSM.Let them have kittens! May Sarah fight BACK!
Anne Coulter is right on.
America has had its fill of establishment politics. Sarah presents a viable alternative.
