I listened to her entire announcement. It was honorable, it was direct, and it punctuated the insane politics of our day...it also punctuated her personal commitment to fight, and to do so when it would not distract further from her job as Governor and the foundation she has built there.

I am proud of her and support her. She is a great American.

I think Sarah has just turned, like a fed-up mama Bear, on her detractors. She has put things in order, she has left them in the hands of capable people, and she has now turned to face her enemies directly.

...and I think they are going to be sorry. We have smelled the fear in them for a long time. Good on her!

I believe she will assist others greatly in 2010, and will run herself in 2012...and she has my full support.

GO SARAH GO!

I am in 100% agreement with what you just said!

Semper Fi, Governor Palin!

Anyone who listened to the entirety of her announcement, who has an abiding love for this Republic and the foundational principles that it is founded upon, and who was willing to listen with an open mind...could not doubt two things IMHO:

1) She is going to continue in the fight, support other candidates, and do all she can to help America...which means a run in 2012.

2) This woman (and her family) is a great American.

I heard about this while in the dining room of the retirement community and just now got to the television . . . can’t find it on Fox, O’Reilly’s on.

Hope I find the transcript. I’ll check youtube, too.

DANG, I do hope she’s going to go after the Democraps like a Cougar with claws ready to rip them apart.

She knows EXACTLY what she is doing. She knows people are squirming around what the heck she is doing. She is smarter then all those libs on TV trying to figure out what this means. She is probably sitting at home right now laughing her ass off at CNN and MSNBC squirming in their liberal boots trying to figure out what she is doing

Amen, even if this isn’t about 2012. America needs her voice right now.

Yes, I did not get the sense she was going to fade out. Especially the statements she made after her speech, she sounded locked & loaded.

I read the transcript and agree with you. Too bad Red State didn't offer up "wanted to save AK the burden of the cost of frivilous lawsuits" as an option.

I didn’t vote since it wasn’t offered as an option.

I look for her to head up a new Contract with America 2010.

Timing is right, and it fits with her statement that she can “make a positive difference and fight for all our children’s future from outside the governor’s office.”

I watched her speech twice. I agree. 2012 depends on what she accomplishes between now and 2010. Helping other candidates win and expanding her own base of support will tell the story. However, as of today, her chances of success increased.

Found on Huffpo:

The head of the Republican Governor’s Association said on Friday that in emails sent to him moments before she announced her resignation as governor of Alaska, Sarah Palin discussed expanding the role she played in the Republican Party.

“Part of her decision is she wants to spend more time campaigning for candidates,” Nick Ayers, the executive director of the RGA, told Fox News.
