In a Republican Party of Kansas Poll the results where not even close.
Aj was born in the US at least according to what I have read. Please show me otherwise.
You do make a good point about natural born citizen (national birthright). It Did not apply till some time in the 1860’s.
***U.S. citizens at the time of the birth. This is clearly evident in law at the time of the adoption of the Constitution and from the writings***
Funny, because that is what I always understood. Which was my first reason, but not stated why Jindal would not qualify. Unless his parents fast tracked citizenship in one year, he was born of immigrant parents.
After reading I changed it based on the definition of “natural born citizen” under qualifications of president.
So, based on the information regarding both parents being natural born citizens, does Jindal qualify or not?
I must clear up my confusion.
Thanks to both of you for the good discussion.
No issue on Jindal. I know where he lives, education, etc. Have friend that went to the same magnet school he did and the church he attended.
Not an issue. The issue was his parents and by definition does he qualify. Trying to sort that out on another post.
I feel like Kerry, flip flopping on the qualification issue.
aruanan copied both you and I on another post, 81. I responded and included you, post 83.
Granted this is the basis of part of the suites that attempt to invalidate the presidency of Obama. They are highly questionable arguements, and less convinceing than Obama being born in Kenya. Since the court seems unlikely to take up the case, the point is renderred irrelevant.
The court has not ruled on what an Actual NATURAL BORN CITIZEN is. EVER. However, since the present occupant of the Office of the President is obviously the son of a non-citizen and has been allowed to serve 1/8 of a term it can be deduced that the court must accept him as legitimate. After all Chief Justice Roberts swore him into office, not once but twice. I think Mr. Roberts probably has a better grasp of constitutional law THAN EITHER OF US. WHAT DO YOU THINK?
Regardless, Jackson is not the only president to have imigrant parents. Andrew Jackson (1829-1837) is the only president born of two immigrants, both Irish. Presidents with one immigrant parent are Thomas Jefferson (1801-1809), whose mother was born in England, James Buchanan (1857-1861) and Chester Arthur (1881-1885), both of whom had Irish fathers, and Woodrow Wilson (1913-1921) and Herbert Hoover (1929-1933), whose mothers were born respectively in England and Canada. Many of these presidents were born within only a few years of their parents immigration.

Sorry about the yelling sometimes when I type an A I hit the caps lock.
I do the same with the caps.
Yes, Roberts would know.
He did swear him in. The first was on a Bible that caused the fumble. The second was more private and didn’t require the Bible. Maybe 0 only shows allegiance to the koran.
My issues is still the qualifications of Jindal per the Constitution. Maybe an email to Roberts will help. lol.
I’ll let you know if I get a solid answer on it.
Thanks, have a good one.
I did not vote for him, (if people search, they'll see that I was brutal on Huckabee) and blame him for McCain, but this TV gig ain't just for sh!ts and giggles. If anything, Huckabee will prevent Romney again from winning.
We now have lots of democrats voting lately, so it is very easy to have ballot box stuffing.
I would like to see (and would actively support) a PALIN/BOLTON ticket.
Huckabee Wins? Huck won’t be running in 2012, I think he’ll be around 350#’s and his 15 minutes of fame ended last fall. His FOX show is little more than ShamWow.
True, if you are born outside the US!
“My problem w/ Rep. Paul is his age. I think he will be in his mid-70s in 2012, so I wish we could find a much younger real conservative w/ the respect for the Constitution that he has.”
We’ve already found that person. Her name is Sarah Palin.
If one studies how Palin has governed in AK, one finds a meticulous adherence to and understanding of the AK constitution. She knows it in detail, including the framers’ intent.
True, that constitution in only a few decades old. However, her faithfulness to the letter and intent of the AK constitution leads me to conclude with high confidence that she would preside over the U.S. with the same attention to, respect for, and meticulous adherence to the U.S. Constitution, based on a very conservative understanding of the Framers’ intent.
My recollection is that Kaylene Johnson’s biography “Sarah” provides good insight. I also recall hearing SP in her own words on this topic in one or another radio interview (perhaps w/ Scaife newspaper in Pittsburgh) from well before her VP selection. Probably still available on the internet somewhere.
She’s the real deal.
