Please read Noumenon's words in post #15 and take them to heart, and then pass them on to everyone you know.

Many are not comfortable with direct talk, but it is far past time for it. We need only look around to know this.

All Americans should understand the truths Noumenon speaks of...they, along with our faith in God in Heaven who has granted us our rights, are the kernal to maintaining and defending our liberty.

They always have been. We as a people forget (and have forgottent them) at our absolute mortal peril.

And, any clear thinking American who has any understanding and love for the liberty of this nation and what it is based upon, by whatever means they came by it, understands that that peril is upon us.

Today, though many do not want to believe it or comtemplate it, we live in a time, when the truth of our nation's heritage, the principles upon which its true liberty is based and the commitment required to maintain that liberty, are not only being denied and ignored, they are being villafied and set up to be viewed as "wrong thinking" and seditious. Ultimately, this thinking, particularly since it has become the basis for the "politically correct" dogma and propoganda of this nation's major governmental, political and media institutions, will lead to conditions similar to those which existed in Nazi Germany and any other totalitarian state.

We can see this all around us, whether it's labeled "gun nuts", "right wing extremists", "Christian fanatics", "homophobes", etc. the terminology itself is engineered to degenerate and disenfranchise any who voice their views in favor of the fundamental moral and philosphical principles that underpin our liberties. These efforts to marginalize and ultimately criminalize the truth of our heritage, our way of life, many of our rights and the foundational moral values that lay at their core, are clear.

As noumenon stated, where they lead is also clear.

As in Nazi Germany, and other totalitarian states that are begotten through their efforts to propogandize the people and cull independent, liberty minded people from their midst, these trends will lead to the people themselves incrementally accepting evil and tyranny in the name of superfolous reasoning. Attitudes like:

1. The trains are running on time.
2. Winning an election is more important than truth, we'll address the truth after we win.
3. Don't worry about principle, educators, the media, and our leaders know what's best.
4. Be true to the "Party", don't let principle stand in the way of the "big" tent because the party leaders have a plan.
5. Voting your consc 6. Don't offend anyone with direct talk or images about what is happening around us...that just drives them a way. 7. A vote for your conscience is vote for the other side.
6. Don't worry about your own self defense, that's the government's job.

...and more become the norm and in their name essential liberty, the fundamental principles upon which it rests and anyone committed to it are sacrificed and discarded as "danerous", "extremist", and "out of step" with reality.

How do we reverse such trends?

Noumenon provided the answer as well. We educate ourselves about our heritage and libertues and then we educate others. There are many more people in this nation who understand the fundamental truths, either intellectually, or in their hearts, than we realize. They have been marginalized, but we must stand forthrightly and find them, gather with them (and do it not just in one or two places with a few dozen, but in tens of thousands of places all over this land), converse with them, educate one another, spread the word and prepare...prepare for war.

In reality, the eternal vigilance necessary for liberty should have led us to always as citizens, be prepared for war anyway. This is so that no internal tyrant would ever think of challenging "we the people". But we have been complacant and they are well beyond "challenging" us...they are in the process of destroying us.

The root of the problem has the isolation of the individual by the propoganda machine of those seeking absolute power. This occured in Germany, it occured in the Soviet Union, it is still in place in Red China and many other totalitarian states around the world ... and it is occurring right now, right here in the United States.

The answer to the problem is to un-isolate ourselves. We still have some effectual powers to do so (talk radio, the internet, our homes, our communities and ability to gather there, etc.) and turn it around. This effectual power is still backed up by the actual power of the 2nd amendment.

Good people understand this inately and are driving arms and ammo sales up to all-time record highs as this evil is growing so rapidly amongst us.

Is there little wonder then why there is such a push to destroy that actual power by the enemies of liberty? ... or any wonder, given the trends and historical precedent, why so many allow it to incrementally occur? It is being programmed that way!

We must stand forthrightly and spread the word and let our brother and sister Americans who still recognize or can perceive the foundational truths of our liberties know that they are not alone. There are more of them out there than we realize. We have been programmed by 30 second sound bites and the mass media, government indoctrination centers for our children and treasonous officials to believe that we are alone in this thinking. We must break out of it.

Just as noumenon stated, we must encourage our compatriots, relatives, friends and neighbors to publically take the stand now, despite current risks. By so doing, we can empower them to break out of the propoganda, marginalization and isolation traps set for them ... and avoid the much harsher reality that await us in the near future.

That reality is taught to us by history and history is a harsh and direct school master. If we the people do not break out of the cycle before both our actual and effectual power is completely negated...well, just ask our founders, or ask the European Jews of the early 1940's, or ask the folks in the "Soviet Empire" or dissidents in Red China under Mao ... or ask the youth of Tienamen Square what the rersults will be.

The result of letting these conditions go unanswered is either bloody revolution or genocide. As Sophocles wrote well over 23 centuries ago :

Far-stretching, endless Time
Brings forth all hidden things,
And buries that which once did shine.
The firm resolve falters, the sacred oath is shattered;
And let none say, "It cannot happen here".

It is happening right here...right now.

Indeed! People must realize that there is NOTHING new under the sun. Any people in history who have sat back and allowed any regime to take them over will get just that...taken over!

That is why I wrote my book. There are plenty of historical lessons there and we better pay attention because we have precious little time left and even less power.

Jeff, just this morning I listened to an interview of Charles Kesler, a Professor at Claremont McKenna College. He was interviewed by the Hoover Institute. Professor Kesler gives an excellent explanation of how the development of progressivism in tghe 20th century has let to where we are with Obama today.

Post #15 was right on for about 5 years ago, maybe 10 years ago....
Currently its too late.. the time has passed for it to happen..

The colleges and other public education has brain washed America too far gone..

Most of America has no idea what a socialist "IS", let alone the difference between political left and right.. America thinks priviledges are the same thing as rights..

The democrat and republican partys are run by women.. clueless women.. especially the democrats.. Not all women are clueless but by far most are..

Sad to say, its too late for post 15 to happen..
"We" have ridden the slippery slope too far down..
The ride will be bumpy, fast with emerging fascist Oohs!.. and AHs!..

A Civil War would just become the Mother of all Riots..
UNless a Military Coup happens we(america) are/is screwed..
"We" waited too long..

Bush destroyed the republican party.. himself.. on purpose, I think..

I know,,, I know.. I voted for him too.. Obviously I am not too smart.. Al Gore would have caused the present situation SOONER... Maybe then post 15 could have happened.. Under an Al Gore presidency..

Yes, it is. I've seen a mood change on the faces of a couple of Obama voters, something like, "Everything they warned us about Obama is happening ... ". However, most of them will defend their stupidity to the death.

Another word for your 7 “Attitudes” is “Excuses”.

I would add an eighth.

Awesome post. We need to get back to teaching the Constitution and Bill of Rights. Is that something that could be going on in between the tea party events?

Each generation that passes weaken us more because the old guards and guideposts are not carried on. We are dealing with a very patient group that creates and waits for calamities to usher in their way of life.

Jeff - you have hit the nail on its head, but let me propose direction - toward the battlefield. Because I say, we (conseratives) have to a great extent, marginalized ourselves!

The tenor of the posts here urge action – but leans in the wrong direction, leaves out real options, and gives the wrong impression – that it is ‘too late.’

It is never ‘too late’ to begin acting on behalf of freedom, and many on this website know what I’m talking about, because they are part of the political process, where they live – they go to political meetings, they participate, and they make a difference - a huge difference. But, they are far too few; they look over their shoulders and wonder… where in the hell are all those others that expressed their desire to ‘wage war.’

Everyone on this website can be a participant in doing their civic duty. That means getting in your car and driving to the battle – of words, ideas - and personalities pushing for power in your-town. That battlefield is close to all of us, but it is studiously ignored.

Showing up when it counts, monthly, weekly, daily – where public business is being conducted in the political arena – is what has not been done. It is where conservatives have badly failed – because they want someone else to do battle (not the bloody kind) for them. So, they sit at home and complain, and wonder what they should do.

Tea parties are fun – but totally ineffective politically. If the same number of conservatives showed up at the monthly County Republican Party meeting where they live, and asked themselves, ‘What can I do to contribute to the battle for conservatism?’ – there would be a political earthquake of major proportions… and that has not been done, or even talked seriously about, anywhere that I know of, including on this website. Why? Because it’s too dull, it doesn’t make for nice pictures. That’s what our grandparents did – the old fogies of the past. (Yeah, those old-timers that kept things on a more even keel in this nation for generations in the past.)

There’s a lot of talk here about boxes – ballot, cartridge, etc. I think it is time for FReepers to start talking about a different ballot box – not the one that comes up three or four times per year where the general public is asked to vote – but those places where votes are taken every month, a few minutes from their doorstep. There’s really no ‘box’ at these places. Generally it is a show of hands, or a voice vote – and yes, sometimes there is a box, perhaps at the County level.

These votes, quite bluntly, are more important than those tossed into the ‘ballot box’ by the public. They determine what a political party is, and does. They determine who rises to leadership in your community – your state, and ultimately, the nation.

In short, if you haven’t been there and you haven’t voted – you haven’t been a ‘watchman on the wall’ – you have not fought yet in the most important battle that there is to maintain the freedoms our forefathers passed on to us.

Whether the third, fourth, fifth and sixth party acolytes on this website like it or not, this is a two-party nation, and you clean up one and fight the other, or you lose.

There are over 100 thousand staunch God fearing conservatives in the Republican Party, and there are a lot of two-faced skunks too – that need conservative opposition.

So go… and oppose them, where you live. Show up in great numbers (such is happening now, but far more need to come.) And, there is a bottom line you need to keep up-front in your mind, as you do battle.

This nation will not prosper, if you poke a sharp stick God’s eye. He gave the model for human government to Moses – our Founders spoke often of that model, and used it in forming our government, and wrote extensively about it. Here is just one quote (rather famous now) of many, from one of those Founders – Samuel Langdon:

Fix your eyes upon men of good understanding, and known honesty; men of knowledge, improved by experience; men who fear God, and hate covetousness; who love truth and righteousness, and sincerely wish the public welfare. Beware of such as are cunning rather than wise; who prefer their own interest to every thing; whose judgment is partial, or fickle; and whom you would not willingly trust with your own private interests. When meetings are called for the choice of your rulers, do not carelessly neglect them, or give your votes with indifference, just as any party may persuade, or a sordid treat tempt you; but act with serious deliberation and judgment, as in a most important matter, and let the faithful of the land serve you. Let not men openly irreligious and immoral become your legislators; for how can you expect good laws to be made by men who have no fear of God before their eyes, and who boldly trample on the authority of his commands? And will not the example of their impiety and immorality defeat the efficacy of the best laws which can be made in favour of religion and virtue? If the legislative body are corrupt, you will soon have bad men for counsellors, corrupt judges, unqualified justices, and officers in every department who will dishonor their stations; the consequence of which will be murmurs and complaints from every quarter. [spelling / punctuation as in the original]

Langdon’s warning about ‘bad men’ has come to pass, as we all well know. What caused this can be directly traced to public apathy at the local level – people fixated on just national elections, while completely ignoring the political arena in their own back yard – where they could have the greatest effect, yet cede the battlefield to a minuscule few.

Jeff, that 'tens of thousands of places all over this land' (where we should gather) are indeed places that have been sorely neglected. Those places are in fact the tens of thousands of monthly meetings a few minutes away from all of us.

I live in Los Angeles, a very liberal town, yet with millions of conservative men and women that don't even know about the political meeting taking place five minutes from where they live.

If this website were to make it a priority to inform those conservatives, and get them to take part in these meetings (they would certainly be welcome) then we could shake the political ground like it has not been shaken, not only in this ugly socialist hotbed, but across the nation.

If Winston Churchill were alive I think he would recite the following about 0bama
Who is in charge of the clattering train?
The axles creak and the couplings strain;
And the pace is hot,and the points are near,
And Sleep has deadened the driver's ear;
And the signals flash through the night in vain,
For Death is in charge of the clattering train.

Excellent post.
