No, no. No flash.
We may not be here to witness it. (Just WHO are those “Life After Man” specials made for, anyway?)
But the world, our Earth, will be consumed by an expanding Sun one day. Not exactly a flash. More like a slow, simmering boil.
Of course, I know we’re talking about our everyday world of concern; our living rooms, our gardens, our 401Ks.
Those too will disappear. We thought at one time that Nuclear Warfare by some mad, impulsive Dictator would cause these things to evaporate in an blinding, actinic moment.
These days it looks more like our homes and lives will be nibbled away by economic termites.
Yep. This is the way the world ends ...
This is the way the world ends ...
.
This is the way the world ends ...
... not with a whim, but a banker.
Cheerful bunch, ain’t we?
Well, golly. You sound so DISMAL!
Do you not have belief in a Higher Power?
The rainbow is God’s Promise that He will never again destroy the Earth by water. The Flood was the Earth’s Baptism. The next time He destroys the Earth, it will be by Fire, like the coming of the Holy Ghost, in the Upper Room.
Christ will come to Reign politically as well as religiously, and in the meantime, we have to wait. Things happen in HIS time, not ours.
As for the “expanding sun:” That is so far in the future that none of us need to be concerned with it.
As for Osama and his minions in Disneyland East, he will get his comeuppance. Have no fear of that. The “economic termites” are the harbingers of “Take THAT, you idiot!”
(She says, smiling sweetly...)
Speak for yourself. I need mirrors. Lots and lots of mirrors.
And rockets. Many rockets.
.
I have a plan.
And how long do you plan to live, Oh, Imperial Weatherman of the Cosmos?
LOLOL!
As long as the fun holds out.
Let me know when it gets too hot for ya, K?
:oþ
Hey, you!
Got plans for tomorrow? Oh. Wait. Does Canada celebrate Mother’s Day when we do?
(Never mind. We can do it twice!!)
Ya, sure. You betcha!
I may be a little confused on that score though. Remember, I'm the one who wants to go to Venus because I think it's cool.
You want me to go to Venus because I are one. I’ve read your books...
Mother’s Day is the same, but we do Christmas and New Years Day at different times.
*snort*
I’m flying into my Mother’s arms. Back on Tuesday night. I probably won’t be online much. Us girls are going to have fun.
;-D
Venus might be a fun place to visit. Maybe even retire, like Florida.
I mean, think about it. You can’t even go until your room is ready for you. And then when you get there, what are you going to do?
You can’t go out in the wilderness and build a log cabin. On Venus, if you want wood, you have to plant seedlings and let them grow. Patience would appear to be in order.
So, visiting, gardening, maybe even shuffleboard.
Yawn.
To get there, you’d have to have a space adventure. But once you’re there? I’m not sure.
Now, you could go into manufacturing. Think of all the things you can do with carbon dioxide ...
Whoa!
We could grow cellulose structures which could serve as nutrients for the Carbon Units!
I thought the idea of populating Venus (or any other Orb) was to grow things that could make oxygen for other living things?
Yes, indeedy.
Lots of sunlight. Getting enough water will be the trick. I'm thinking our balloon houses will need to have window boxes. Not for growing flowers. For collecting hydrogen the hard way.
*sheesh*
Doing things “the hard way” is what I do!
Why make it difficult?
Collect the moisture in the balloon.
I love closed systems.
Have you seen the new Star Trek yet?
I’m cheerful! If Vlad would just use the toilet, I’d be so cheerful nobody could stand me! He can read cursive now. Maybe I should give him calligraphed instructions: “Feeling bladder pressure? Tell Tom, ‘I need to go to the bathroom!’ Proceed to bathroom ...”
