There are a lot of scammers online in the dating sites. They usually take the easier route by going to the free sites like Craig's List, etc. (I won't advertise them here), but will also spend some cash to register as advanced members on other sites. Scammers are there for one reason: To RIP YOU OFF! They will say anything that they have to to get you to believe that their emails and words of kindness are true and from the heart. They especially like to prey on whoever is hurting for companionship, and see them as their easiest targets.
There are a few ways to tell if you're dealing with a scammer.
The first is probably the easiest. These people are lazy. So, they write pre-written text and send it, or place it on their profile pages. Take a chunk from their text and Google it in an exact phrase search. Use a chunk of words that reads like it's unique to the sentence, or written in a kind of accent. If the search reveals that it's been written before, it's a scammer.
The other way is to get the suspected scammer to email you. Look at the properties in the received email for somthing that reads, "TheBat!" This is a redirecting program. If you see this, you have a scammer.
They also like to send pictures of themselves, some that have been photoshopped to make it look like it was a picture taken with you in mind (She's holding a sign that says, "Love you, Randall!!!") You can look for duplicate pictures online, but it takes a very long time.
Stick with the idea that about 50%-80% of the people are scammers, and you all should do well.
Be cautious. Be aware. Be safe.
Rule #1 Check all surrounding county website sites for Common Plea court actions!
Rule #2 Dont take someones word as being the truth. Watch out for those who have just one too many people singing his praises.
Rule #3 Beware the plainly wrapped Christmas gift presented to you in front of your family being sheepishly handed over to you
or you could end up with a " Are you smarter than a 5th grader?" day calender!
You have a scammer if:
You got it.
The dating site I’m on right now has an area where you can tell who’s sent flirts, winks, etc. There’s a bunch on that page who range between the ages of 22-29. Come on. I’m 40. They don’t even try anymore.
I nuked six this last hour. MUAAHAHAHAAA!!!
thanks for ping. I have never been into the dating sites although did investigate a bit. I have really never experienced a lack of men to date & most are quite nice..but for life partners - nada.
I also dont care for the local single groups / dances etc. All you have in common is that you are single & that is NOT always the case as there are a lot of; men & women who are married but cruising anyway.
And in person people can lie & embellish just as much as on line (but you can at least SEE them!)
and your social security number
I agree, it sucks being single! I’ve never met a scammer online, but I did have a guy tell me on the first date that he was “the reincarnation of Grey Wolf” who was supposed to be some Indian Warrior. This guy went to all kinds of Indian tribal ceremonies, etc. but he wasn’t even descended from any kind of Native American tribe. Oh well, whatever floats your boat!
You dated Ward Churchill?
On one site I had (I think) the same individual try 3 times to con me.
She claimed to be a Dentist, but the text was worse than a Babelfish translation. The claimed education and the lack shown are a dead giveaway.
Hum, saw the title and said, Have to flag Randall to this and low and behold you were already here. :-)
Morning! We’re (Mom and I) are going to go see Ka tonight at the MGM. Should be a fun show. The flight up was fun, the shuttle to the hotel, not so great. May have to rethink this travel group.
bttt
OMG!! I never thought of that - hahaha!! Lot of similarities but he was in St. Louis, not Colorado.
I don’t understand why people have to make up stuff about themselves when they’re trying to impress someone. Being honest is impressive enough for most.
Ka is a Cirque de Soleil show, it's supposed to be pretty good. So far this is the only one we haven't seen.
Here's a link for them.
:-)
AH! Thanks.
I’ve never been to one of their shows.
And how do you think Obama is going to fund all those projects?
LOL!! Good point!
The Scamocrat party needs YOU!
It wasn’t online, but the best personal ad I ever saw was in our local paper. It was by a 40 YO 5’6” 350 lb. male “just looking for someone to spank me.”
Heh! And the scary part was that he’s local.
Hide the kids.
