Unfortunately, Iran has been a trading partner of Mexico for some time.
"But since relations with Iran about its nukes also are sky high on Obamas foreign policy agenda, I thought the Iranian overture to Mexico City was worth at least a few reportorial phone calls. It turns out once again, as with my coverage of Irans move into Nicaragua, that I remain the only U.S. reporter to inquire. Heres what I learned:"
Maybe all us Freepers should just “convert” to Islam and destroy the mosques from within?
Iran has been trying to hobnob its way into this hemisphere for some time. However, it keeps running into the same basic problem that the fanatical fruitcakes who rule Iran don’t get along with other flavors of fanatical fruitcake of South and central America.
It was positively comical when Iran invited some old fashioned South American communists to Tehran to talk about their mutual desire to destroy the Yankee menace. They even had some kin of Che Guevara, who didn’t even make it through their opening remarks before the Iranians asked them to leave. Now.
After talking about how “after the revolution”, the opiate of the masses, religion, will be purged from society. For some reason, the Mullahs weren’t too cool with that.
As far as Mexico goes, while they might not be the strictest Catholics in the big cities, in the countryside they even get into spats with the Protestants. Add to that the growing Santa Muerte cult, which is an Aztec throwback, and I just don’t think there’s a heck of a lot of room for Islam to make a big splash.
And while Iranians might be willing to pay a pretty penny to get smuggled into the US, even a small bounty, payable to Mexicans, would guarantee that while they made it across the border, they wouldn’t get much further than that, without ICE being on them like flies on a variety of feces.
"I also emailed Mexicos ambassador to Iran, Carlos Tirado, multiple times, asking to take Mexicos temperature on the Iranian proposal. No response. Finally, a Mexican diplomat who requested anonymity called back, probably just to shut me up.
"The diplomat said Mexico welcomed Tehrans proposal with open arms and considered it no different from any other. The diplomat explained that this was the new way of the world since the Obama administration has shown open-mindedness about Iran."
All That’s Missing is Chia Pet...Ping!
Obama will open up the borders even wider. Im supried McCain wasnt chose by Obama to head ICE or DHS. The sellout of this country continues.
The Mexicans fielded an Iranian proposal to expand ties in the political, economic, and cultural arenas,
I have had enough of our “friends” in Mexico. Besides this they encourage their people to come here illegally so we have to support them. I say we put the troops on the border and show them who has the power.
bttt
Ge3t a grip. Iran is a small country, there’s no need to worry about them. < /sarcasm >
