I never thought i would live to see this day.

:(

But I have been saying that about a LOT of things since November 2008.

Why in the world would so many Republicans vote yes for this???

Thank you joygrace, for keeping us all posted. Did you ever determine if the Senate version has the verbage about making the volunteer service mandatory, that was in the House bill?

Everyone of these bozos should be impeached for violating the 13th amendment.

I refuse to obey this thing or my children or my grandchildren. I intend to use the 13th amendment while it is still in the constitution as my defense before being sent to the new re-education camp.

On the plus side: It will be fun to watch the reactions of the obamanoids when they find out they are going to have to actually WORK for the first time in their life.

Look what I found....... “As he builds a $1.75 billion empire, Michael Milken reaches into an old bag of tricks.”
Some geniuses are driven by an inevitable force. Case in point: Michael Milken. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Milken Thus we find the former junk bond king, now 55 and barred for life from securities activities, sitting on the throne of a $1.75 billion private education empire that includes private and publicly traded companies. The old suspicions still dog him. But even those suspicious of him say that, by all appearances, he appears to be doing it right this time. So what’s the catch?

His new sovereignty, Knowledge Universe, oversees nearly 50 companies, many of them interlocking. Some are wholly owned by KU. In others, KU holds anything from a majority to minority portion, (see chart). What they all share is place and purpose within Milken’s latest grand vision, one reminiscent of his junk bond kingdom from which he made as much as $500 million annually. Together, Milken’s new numbers include 14,000 employees worldwide. Though only 5 years old, Knowledge Universe is already on the brink of dominating several sectors of what is being called the Internet’s next killer app: e-learning. A space so vast, with a potential market of more than $10 billion a year, online learning could turn out to be the richest truffle since Milken sniffed out the untapped potential of high-yield debt.

This is a little confusing. The article below says that S.B. 277 passed. It doesn't mention 1388. They make it as confusing as possible I'm sure.

“SENATE VOTES TO TRIPLE AMERICORPS, BOLSTER SERVICE”
http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/politics/2008910666_apcongressnationalservice.html

(9 paragraphs down)

“The House, which passed a similar bill last week, plans to bring the Senate version to a vote as early as Monday.”
