There’s a bit of a mystery that may not have been brought up before regarding Obama’s Illinois driver’s license record.

This is BHO’s Illinois driver’s license abstract:



In addition to showing Obama’s Illinois driver’s license number, O150-0686-1221-0, it does show a clean record.

But what’s with the “Cont. Lic. Date” of 8-19-96? The date seems to be when he first applied for his Illinois Driver’s License, which he held consistently through its expiration date of 8-4-08.

Some background:
Obama first moved to Chicago in 1985 and may have used some mass transit occasionally as a Community Organizer. Obama began attending Harvard Law School in fall 1988. In 1989, he worked briefly at the Sidley Austin Law Firm in Chicago, as a summer associate from Harvard, where he met Michelle. They had a "long distance relationship" until he graduated from Harvard in May 1991. Obama returned to be the Illinois head of "Project Vote" (affiliated with "ACORN") while Michelle is hired as a Chicago mayoral assistant. On Dec. 17, 1991, Obama is admitted to the Illinois Bar. Obama and Michelle married Oct. 3, 1992.

BHO definitely owned and drove a car while wooing Michelle in Chicago between summer 1989 and October 1992. THIS is from the “60 Minutes” interview last year, while they were reminiscing of their early years together:

Kroft: It is one bedroom? Studio?
Mr. Obama: Yeah, it was sort of a one bedroom. It had kind of the vintage, college dorm, pizza…
Kroft: Community organizer, right?, feel to it.
Michelle Obama: It reminded me of a little better version of the apartment you were in when we first started dating. That was a dump too.
Mr. Obama: Right near Harold's Chicken Shack.
Michelle Obama: Yeah.
Mr. Obama: Yeah. That's when I had the car with the-the hole in it.
Michelle Obama: And you could see the sidewalk, because the rust had gone through.
Mr. Obama: The air-conditioning.
Michelle Obama: So that was my side. I would look and see the ground going past. And I still married him.

One consideration might be that he let his Illinois driver’s license lapse while he was at Harvard from Fall 1988 to May 1991. In 2007, to clean his record for his presidential run, Obama paid for 17 parking tickets he received between Oct. 5, 1988 and Jan. 12, 1990. However, it is unknown if he had a Massachusetts drivers license during that time. It’s more likely that he kept his Illinois drivers license and drove his rusty car back and forth 1000 miles, nearly 16 hours, between Harvard and Chicago when visiting Michelle (see Obama finally pays local parking ticket).

Regardless, it’s unlikely he neither owned nor drove a car in Illinois for five years after returning to Chicago in mid-1991 (post-Harvard) until the date on the Illinois driver’s license abstract of Aug 19, 1996.

So why the 1996 date, just months before his first run (and win) as an Illinois State Senator with the socialist New Party in November 1996?

Jr only went to Columbia for 2 years, having gone to Oxy for two years before that. He did continue to live in NYC for two years after he graduated from Columbia, working first for BIC(salary of $15,000/yr) then at the NYCPIRG.(salary at PIRG of less than $10,000/yr)He did have a license when he went to Chicago to rabble rouse as his salary included an old Honda and a gas allowance.(salary of $12,000/yr plus $3,000 for transportation)

Driver’s licenses in Illinois are good for a three year period to be renewed on the applicant’s birthday. If the license is applied for six months after a birthday it still is only good until the birthday in the third year.
Also Jr had some type of license when he was at Harvard and it was obviously in the name Barack Hussein Obama in order for all the tickets to appear in that name.

While off doing that research I told you about I did bookmark a link from Hawaii regarding name changes. Reading through it I did find statutes detailing how a name change can be made and it makes me wonder even more if a court action took place while Sr was visiting in HI in 1971. I will post it here for all to peruse.

Yes, it does make sense something like a name change or some other court action occurred in December 1971 when Obama Sr came to Hawaii, just when Ann and Obama Jr seem to be in town.

I've long though it was odd that Obama Sr, who hadn't really met Obama Jr in the 10 years since his birth, flew nearly 11,000 miles from Kenya to Hawaii for a 10-year class reunion Univ of Hawaii. Obama Sr had graduated from U of HA in May or June of 1962, 9 1/2 years earlier. Coincidentally, that's just when Ann briefly traveled to Hawaii with Obama Jr from her home in Jakarta with Lolo. She just happened to be there in Dec 1971 while Obama Sr was there. Ann was there to drop off Obama Jr to stay with his grandparents while he attended school in Hawaii away from his mom, step-father and baby sister Maya. Or perhaps, Lolo was there in Hawaii after all during that time to sign paperwork ... who knows.

The Indonesian school records seem to indicate Obama Jr had already been adopted by Lolo Soetoro in 1966 or so.

It was "decided" that Obama Jr would live with his grandparents in Dec 1971. The marriage between Ann and Lolo doesn't seem to fully hit the skids yet based upon Ann's statement on the 1980 divorce request: "husband and wife are not legally separated but have lived apart by mutual consent since Aug 1974."

So, an American (Hawaii) adoption or Obama Jr by Lolo, who was an Indonesian with a name change involved to Barry Soetoro, seems like a very likely scenario. Of course, we don't know that for sure since the Obama Jr/Barry Soetoro is not specifically named on the 1980 Divorce request other than as "1 child above 18 but still dependent on the parties for education."

In theory, BHO should have had 5 drivers licenses: HI, CA, IL, NY, MA -- all the states he lived in. I think that HI and CA are surer bets since we now know of the Illinois licence number. The chances are fair that his legal name was Barry Soetoro or Barry Obama in California at least:

A consideration: some of those states may also require a COLB to establish the driver's license. IF any of the states retained a copy of the COLB Long Form in their records BEFORE November 2001, when Hawaii began using the CertifcaTION of Live Birth, a FOIA request might shake a copy of BHO's Long Form loose...

Just a little note to add to your investigation.

I moved to Hawaii back in ‘69 from Washington state. Got a Hawaiian DL just by showing my WA DL. Just filled out the paperwork while living on The Big Island and got the license in the mail. No birth certificate required back then.

There is always the possibility he was born in Hawaii. However....

Since a person cannot witness their own birth, we turn to others to be witnesses. I see no witness on Obama’s birth certificate.

But because none of the hospitals seem have records of he or his mother being admitted, and the intensity that he and his attorneys are fighting the simplest of subpoenas and requests for information, there’s more to all of this than a simple “right to privacy.”

Another strong indicator of an adoption was Obama’s Indonesian schooling.

Indonesian state schools were restricted to citizens of Indonesia.

When he fist arrived in Jakarta, he attended the Roman Catholic, Franciscus Assisi Primary School (registration document above). The document lists Barry Soetoro as a Indonesian citizen, born on August 4, 1961 in Honolulu, and shows his Muslim step-father listed the boy's religion as Islam.

Despite the document identifying Barry as an "Indonesian citizen," he probably had not yet been adopted by Lolo, and was obligated to attend an expensive private school.

It was his transfer to the Besuki Primary School, a state school that is the best indicator that Barry was adopted by Lolo. As an Indonesian citizen, was then enrolled in the state school.

It is my understanding, that if Barry was adopted by Lolo, he became a citizen of Indonesia. He would then have had six months from the date of his 18th birthday to assert his American citizenship.

His 18th birthday would have been August 4th, 1979. He entered Occidental College the next month.

Now, if Obama’s Occidental College records show Barry Obama to have registered as an Indonesian, we got him by the shorts.

Obama’s high-powered team of Los Angeles attorneys, led by Fredric Woocher, “Southern California Super Lawyer, 2009,” was representing Obama in his effort to keep his Occidental College records concealed from the public. Woocher has suggested there should be “monetary sanctions” against lawyers who have brought complaints against Obama.

He also had a driver’s license while he attended Harvard Law School.

During the campaign, Obama began the process of cleaning up his loose ends by paying $400 in parking tickets to Cambridge and $71 in excise taxes to Somerville for fines and taxes incurred while he was living in Massachusetts and attending Harvard Law School during the early 1980’s.

Obama’s operatives paid 17 outstanding tickets in Cambridge for a vehicle with Illinois plates.

If he paid excise taxes, he had a vehicle registered in Massachusetts.

This also Demonstrates how Democratic politicians help each other. The two cities waved the penalties and fees on the 17 year old tax bill, which I can tell you from personal experience, are considerable.
