Salon Lets Cat Out of the Bag: Obama'z Plan Is About Socialism & Redistribution, not Stimulus

Excerpt:
Reich said something Democrats almost never say: The so-called fundamentals of our economy didn't start weakening in 2007 or 2008 with the housing and credit crisis; they haven't been strong for most American workers since wages began stagnating in the 1970s.
Obama is the Democrats' Great Communicator, our Ronald Reagan. It's fitting that his highest priority will be reversing the tax and spending priorities Reagan enshrined as a new American compact almost 30 years ago, and reviving the notion of government as an engine of capitalist growth -- not merely the safety net provider, but the catalyst for organizing our public resources around what makes the economy strong. We've been arguing at the margins during these last two years of pain: Government should regulate more, or less. Tax rates should be higher, or lower. But there's a dangerous civic illiteracy in our country about what the larger role of government in a modern economy is, or should be, and I don't think Obama will ultimately prevail if he doesn't start to take it on.

Salon Lets Cat Out of the Bag: Obama'z Plan Is About Socialism & Redistribution, not StimulusI wouldn't say that they're letting the cat out of the bag - given that this information has been out for a couple of days now, I'd say that they're doing damage control.
This "stimulus" package is very indicitave of they types of tricks that the left will try to play for the next 2-4 years. It's all marketing - they sell a title which has nothing to do with the product.
They will need to be watched very, very carefully.

This piece is a must-read to understand the mind of a raging leftist who is growing frightened that Obama can't bring about the great socialist revolt.
She uses the current situation, as does Reich, to start another attack on Ronald Reagan's legacy.
Now that W is gone and (for the moment) discredited, they can return to their real Most Hated Republican and try to destroy his image.

And let us not forget that the purpose of socialism is to eliminate wealth, not poverty. We are supposed to share in our poverty in their Utopian world — except the Philosopher Kings, of course.

Democrats win when they hide the fact that they are socialists. Republicans win when the Democrats become too obvious with their power grabs. Oddly Obama gets this, that's why he wanted to ram through the Uber-pork bill by the 13th, and why he never speaks in anything other then generalities and soundbites.
If he ever clearly communicated what he was doing there would be a revolution. Remember you don't need a majority to start a revolution, just a significant minority who decides they have less to loose by fighting then by trying to toughed out the current administration. In the American Revolution only about 1 out of 3 supported independence from Britain. One third were loyalists and the rest just tried to keep their heads down. In the Civil secession passed in several states by very narrow margins, and Virginia tried to stay neutral until it became obvious that its location between Washington and the Carolina's made that impossible.
Our founding fathers tried to prevent this sort of thing by having house elections every two years. If you only had to tough it out for two years you were unlikely to pick up a gun and take the risk of getting dead associated with a rebel stand. Since Democrats don't read or understand history they have missed this point. By try to impose permanent changes both constitutionally (rule of radical judges) and demographically (importing vast numbers of like minded people from other countries) they are backing 30-40% of the nation into a corner, from which it has no hope of ever getting out of. If Obama goes for the Chavez route, and that appears to be what he is doing, he can expect to face at best a Gault's Gulch or at worst Lexington and Fort Sumter.

What really is happening is not that Obama is failing to communicate his message of hope and change by moving to socialism, but that the American people are catching on. Despite the MSM painting this as a monumental crisis that demands immediate action without regard to where money is spent, people are looking at where the money is going and are smart enough to realize that millions for the National Endowment for the Arts, passing out free condoms and buying government employees hybrid cars isn't going to create jobs in middle America.
When Obama's grand economic plan bites the dust in the Senate, look for a vigorous attack on talk radio and Fox News. Obama realizes that despite a majority of liberals in Congress he cannot get his agenda enacted if people actually know what is going on.

Why would some of these people at the top want socialism and redistribution? I’m not saying they don’t....but I don’t get it. Control over more people since they look to the government for their daily bread?

For all the fearmongering going on about how bad the economy is, my wife and I are doing better than ever, thanks be to God for that. I think it might have to do with the fact that we don’t spend outside our means, we have very little debt and we work hard for the things we possess.
This lady is nuts! Just plain nuts! Tax cuts didn’t work? Have you been under a shell the last 30 years lady? And besides that how in any sense does spending money help us get out of debt exactly?

I vote for control. Libs have always struck me as control freaks of the worst kind. For all the “don’t shove your religion down my throat” talk, that is PRECISELY what they wish to do to the rest of us. See, the believe they ARE morally superior. It is their religion to control the rest of us to reach their utopia.

Things have been going to Hades in a handbasket, ever since the Halcyion days of Jimmy (Peanut-Brain) Carter.
Taxes down; inflation down; unemployment down (or was until after 11-06); interest rates down; gas lines gone; fuel prices down; welfare numbers down; ....
Just a total disaster, that only Big Government can solve.
