Anyone Else Fed UP With the GOP?

Posted on 01/27/2009 9:26:08 AM PST by Karama

I am posting this, because of recent events. I am very upset with watching our freedoms being signed away by this new "President", and seeing those who are supposed to be leaders in the GOP not even batting an eye over it. I am sick of the spineless way some of the GOP behave when they should be standing up saying, "Heck No we are Not going to let you do this."

We voted for these people on the notion that they would carry out the conservative agenda that we sent them there to perform. So far we have yet to see much of this. We as citizens give these people the power to rule us. I say it is time we start taking it away if they will NOT obey the will of those who gave them their power in the first place.

I think also the crowing moment that has set me on fire for a new kind of change is the "President's" comment that he won so we should all just sit down shut up and do what ever he wants. When he told the officials we elected that he in effect told us this as well. I say now is when we need to break this silence and be as loud as we can be. I refuse to sit down and shut up any longer. I don't care if I am the only one who is willing to get a bull horn and speak my mind. I will. Conservatives, friends, silence is getting us no where, but shafted. We need to take a more proactive tack with our government. Even if it means starting a new party.

I have as of late felt that the GOP leadership has left it's grass root conservatism behind. It has fallen prey to the notion that if they become more "moderate" that they will be loved by the liberal left. Hog wash!

So in light of this, I feel if our so called "leaders" are going to leave us behind, then I feel we should do them the same turn. I call for all those with a mind for justice, and a love of freedom to stand up. All those who wish to not see this great Republic fade into the night stand up! Stand up for the constitution, for God, for the betterment of mankind! STAND UP!

"Anyone Else Fed UP With the GOP?"

Well, uh, yeah. To the point of having to stand down for a while out of frustration and contemplate the next direction to go. Right now, the stink of dead elephant is overwhelming.

The party leadership sold us all out.

We need new leadership.

What does being new on Free Republic and posting have anything to do with what is taking place in D.C.?

Sitting back posting on the Internet certainly did not win the 2008 election.

I guess if things get really really bad people can sit and whine instead of stopping the process taking place. Oh forgive, for being redundant, because that is exactly what took place and still taking place.

Honestly what was stated by others is true - The left has more passion for what they stand for than do the Conservatives. Thus, we have Barack Hussein Obama an out of control drunk on power President and Congress.

Do you not ask "Who is fed up with the GOP"?

If you were not new, you would know most of us have been VERY fed up with the GOP for about 7 years and that there are many, many Conservative Activist on this site that actively demonstrate and counter-protest all the time!!

Do you know who outed Dan Rather in what is known as Rather gate? ...claiming fake documents were authentic?

I was Proud of the House GOP yesterday, for the first time in my life, errr, make that a very long time.

PS. ...we're on the same team.

NOT ONE GOP VOTE went for that increase government package... but watch the Senate.... this is where the RINOS are running Amok.

Yes, we are on the same team, I’m ticked. Blame it on “SickandtiredBarackObamasydrome”. He was disgusting when I lived in Chicago and now he is in the Oval Office. All of this seems surreal at times, but the fact of the matter is - Barack was elected. Heaven help us.

Thanks and have a great day!

I just hope the Senate follows the House in making the Democrats own this bill all by their lonesome.

Have a great day, gotta go to work to fund this massive welfare stimulus.

They seem much better disciplined when they’re in the minority and the barbarians have breached the gates. Maybe in another 40 years when they are in the majority, we’ll see how they do then (I won’t be around, more likely than not, but we’ll see).

Last night on the Mark Levin Show, Mark was encouraging
everybody to call the GOP House members to THANK them
for voting AGAINST the Porkulus Spending Bill. It IS
PORK, NOT a Stimulus bill !!!

ALL GOP House members voted AGAINST the Pork bill, along
with 11 Democrats!

bump! bump! bump!

I think that Kirk got 53%, last Nov. Why do you think he’s a Republican, although he’s more liberal than many Democrats? If he doesn’t run for re-election, in 2010, who should run for his seat? I tried to find a conservative state senator, state rep., or county board member, who lives in his district, but I don’t know of any. In which town do you live? I live in Northfield.

Great list you posted. I can only pray some Republican leadership do seriously consider your list.
I believe an immediate STRONG campaign is needed by the Republicans. It must contain a new campaign noting their top ten issues (there could be more but less is often more if well said).
Next steps would be to get as many on board with this repeating them again and again- the ONLY way to break through the great media divide. These should be published too...web site formed, etc.. so there is also a grass roots by the people supporting the campaign. I know it would work...and I can only hope at least one strong man or woman in DC will step up to the challenge.

***Same here. RINOs everywhere and no permission to hunt them. I’m going to wander over to the Falcon Party website and see if it’s time to sign up.

The party leadership sold us all out.

Up to and through Newt's bungling the "Contract with America". From my vantage point, the only thing that annealed the GOP to Reagan was his popularity, not his brand of constitutional-republic conservatism. Reagan faced tremendous opposition, especially at first, from fellow Republicans.

If its possible to change a leopard's spots, maybe the political opportunism can be replaced by true conservatism at the GOP leadership. It would be somewhat miraculous. That isn't to say another Reagan-like true conservative could emerge as a front-runner. But that's different from a party whose leadership clearly puts America above its own shot-sighted next-election opportunism.

You’re types of post are counterproductive. We should be thinking of realistic ways we can change the GOP back into a party that wins elections not fantasizing about some revolution that will never come. You just make us look like violent kooks.

Welcome to Free Republic. Thanks for trying to put out the fires of extremism here on FR. ;^)

to the Trolls & Third Party loons, shove it as all Republicans in the Hose just voted against Obama’s bailout

Absolutely right. the "Trolls & Third Party loons" are chasing their tails -

Some of them are moles, the others have thick skulls. But they all hurt us.

The Republicans just took a stand and gave the Rats a shot across the bow with their first salvo of HIS reign.

Question is: When they look over their shoulders, are they going to see us covering their backs?

If not, why should we expect them to keep sticking their necks out? the obamination has already signaled retaliation, especially against the GOP leaders of this revolt.

This may be the only window we will have to shore up leaders - and possibly survive long enough for the usurpers regime to implode.

Gov't OF, FOR and BY the people means just that: we have to roll up our sleeves and be actively involved with more that rhetoric and feel good complaining. Our elected leaders can't do it alone.

If they, the rats and the media see that WE the PEOPLE are not going to slink off for the duration, but are going to stand and fight side by side with our reps, we may have a chance to keep our freedoms.

Any reading this who are not outright trolls, read my tagline. Help or shut up.

There are only two real tables in the political scene, the Republican and the Democrat. All others are spoilers or “feel good”. I was a Democrat, and then Declined to State, until I really thought about what I believe in. It was obvious that I am conservative, and therefore Republican. Now, this is not to say that I agree with everything that the GOP does. However, a party is like a ship, and as such the crew must do their part. I would rather work to make my party the one that history has shown to be the the best, rather than waste any more of my time with “feel good” measures. Today’s election of Michael Steele as head of the RNC is one of those steps in the right direction. But I fully understand that I must remain active...especially now.
