Anyone Else Fed UP With the GOP?

Posted on 01/27/2009 9:26:08 AM PST by Karama

I am posting this, because of recent events. I am very upset with watching our freedoms being signed away by this new "President", and seeing those who are supposed to be leaders in the GOP not even batting an eye over it. I am sick of the spineless way some of the GOP behave when they should be standing up saying, "Heck No we are Not going to let you do this."

We voted for these people on the notion that they would carry out the conservative agenda that we sent them there to perform. So far we have yet to see much of this. We as citizens give these people the power to rule us. I say it is time we start taking it away if they will NOT obey the will of those who gave them their power in the first place.

I think also the crowing moment that has set me on fire for a new kind of change is the "President's" comment that he won so we should all just sit down shut up and do what ever he wants. When he told the officials we elected that he in effect told us this as well. I say now is when we need to break this silence and be as loud as we can be. I refuse to sit down and shut up any longer. I don't care if I am the only one who is willing to get a bull horn and speak my mind. I will. Conservatives, friends, silence is getting us no where, but shafted. We need to take a more proactive tack with our government. Even if it means starting a new party.

I have as of late felt that the GOP leadership has left it's grass root conservatism behind. It has fallen prey to the notion that if they become more "moderate" that they will be loved by the liberal left. Hog wash!

So in light of this, I feel if our so called "leaders" are going to leave us behind, then I feel we should do them the same turn. I call for all those with a mind for justice, and a love of freedom to stand up. All those who wish to not see this great Republic fade into the night stand up! Stand up for the constitution, for God, for the betterment of mankind! STAND UP!

I don't want to read anyone's post if they haven't already called their rep and senator. It's best to call for immediate contact, otherwise an e-mail may not get there in time for the vote. I called this morning.

I also think we should direct our anger at our government and not at citizens like you who are frustrated about the direction our government is taking us.

Your's and others' posts stimulated me to call my gov reps this morning. You've done your job well as a citizen. I hope others are stimulated to call their reps as well.

Also, as a side note to detractors, if I hire someone to perform a job, I will damn well supervise that person to ensure that job is done the right way, ie., represent me.

...any copies of letters sent for those of us with poor writing skills??

I cobbled this together from various sources:

Dear Rep. Jim Cooper,

“Never let a serious crisis go to waste. What I mean by that is it’s an opportunity to do things you couldn’t do before.” Rahm Emanuel

An economic crisis is no time to play politics. The current “stimulus” plan reads more like a wish list of liberal program spending and won’t stimulate anything but more government and more debt. More government and more debt is not a way to improve economic performance. It didn’t work for Hoover and Roosevelt to pull the U.S. economy out of the Great Depression. More government spending did not solve Japan’s “lost decade” in the 1990s.

To improve the economy, please focus on reforms that remove impediments to work, saving, investment and production. Lower taxes and a reduction in the burden of government is the way to prosperity, not Big Government.

Thank you, Fullchroma

The reluctance of blue dog ‘Rats may be the reason that the zero is courting the Republicans’ support.

Thank you... my sentiments exactly... I just finished emailing all my representatives plus McConnell and Boehner... they have and will continue to hear from me daily... after I read this on Drudge I had my message of the day for my reps:

$335,000,000 FOR STD PREVENTION IN ECONOMIC STIMULUS BILL Wed Jan 28 2009 09:58:30 ET

Democrats may have eliminated provisions on birth control and sod for the National Mall in the "job stimulus" -- but buried on page 147 of the bill is stimulation for prevention of sexually transmitted diseases!

The House Democrats' bill includes $335 million for sexually transmitted disease education and prevention programs at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the DRUDGE REPORT has learned.

In the past, the CDC has used STD education funding for programs that many Members of Congress find objectionable and arguably unrelated to a mission of economic stimulus [such as funding events called 'Booty Call' and 'Great Sex' put on by an organization that received $698,000 in government funds.]

"Whether this funding has merit is not the question; the point is it has no business in an economic plan supposedly focused on job creation," says a stimulated Hill source.

I’m with you....who do we nominate for the next election?

This is "action to late" - i.e., sitting back and seeing who might be around to vote for.

We have to start, today, at the ground level to get the right candidates into the pipe line...and promote those that are already there - like LTC Allen West in Florida...

Listen to the videos on him - this first one is incredible. It lays out the whole ball of wax that led to where we are today - starting with the peanut farmer...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_qSnRlmo7og&NR=1

http://www.amazon.com/Missing-Link-Leadership-Trial-Allen/dp/1434395685/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1218208151&sr=8-1

anyway - we need to turn our energies into getting active in our local Republican Committees - these are the people who decide who ends up in the pipe line. This is where we need to work = to get the right people into office in the first place....

It's NOT the GOP = it's WE the PEOPLE, who send them to Washington. Want different leaders? DO YOUR PART...get busy.

It is ALL out responsibilities how they have strayed off the reservation.  I am not responsible for the actions of anyone but my own.

How many people here have taken the time to call, email or fax even ONE communication to their representatives over the stimulus bill — or anything else???  Many people have done this.

Passivity is why we are where we are...  No.  We are here because we voted Republicans into office, and those Republicans have shirked their duty to remain faithful to Conservatism.

I have no use for the democratic party, but they are the poster child for activism,...  Have you ever asked yourself why?  If you were as "active" as you say you are, you would know that the left pays union members to carry out party activity.  I've run into them on the street, on the clock.  I run into college kids who are out there getting class credit.  I run into people who are obviously fronting for subversive organizations, so far off the beaten track that is highly unlikely they hold down a job.  The Republicans haven't been gulity of providing government funds to organizations like ACORN.  So yes, the Democrats are the poster child for something, bit it isn't common activism.  It's more like criminal activity.

the GOP — Well they do things like come on FR and complain and do nothing...  Are you unhappy that Republicans come here?  Are you unhappy that Conservatives come here?  Are you unhappy that they are unhappy, and that they express that here?  I'm active.  I come here.  Coming here and expressing our opinions, is not doing nothing, in and of itself.  People who want to know what Conservatives think come here.  And they see that true Conservatives are very unhappy with what is taking place within our party.  Frankly, that's something that is very important.  I don't want the public thinking that we're all pleased as punch with the party leadership or the Republican Reps we have in W., D.C. right now.  Would you like to have folks come here and see nothing but glowing comments about the Republican Party and it's representatives these days?

where is OUR move-on.org???  Surely you jest...

We don’t have one because we haven’t demanded one, we are too busy saying we are just leaving the GOP!  With the performance of the RNC nationally and in regard to many state leaderships, who could blame Republicans for being righteously upset with the party right now?  Who could fault them for thinking the party is dead to them?  Who could fault them for being pissed off enough to want to leave the party?  You may not think that is the best idea, but insulting people who are at their wits end with the party, is like shooting yourself in the head.  They come here to vent, and you tell them they are fools.  One of the few places where a Conservative can go to vent to other Conservatives, and you trash them for doing it.

If you think good solid Conservatives are wrong to be contemplating leaving the party, then you have a screw loose.  I don't think it's the right path to take, but I certain identify with folks who think the Republican Party leaders should basically (figuratively) be taken out and shot.  I plan on urging them to join me in the process of replacing RINOs.  I plan on coming to your state next year to help you folks replace John McCain.  I suspect others will join in.  Now, do you want to continue to trash them so bad, that they drop out and go on about their lives somewhere they won't be insulted by thoughtless people like you?

Sincerely yours

That's good - but did I not see the part that tells about your local activity in your local Republican Committee???

That's where we make the changes - using our privilege of a gov't OF and BY the PEOPLE - that means WE are supposed to do more than complain - see my tagline and post #166

Liberal states elect liberal Republicans. That will never change. Liberal states would elect other liberals no matter what the party. Better to have liberal Republican than a Democrat since the GOP numbers count who is in the majority and even Olympia Snow and Arlen Specter vote on the right side the majority of the time.

as to how good or bad our representatives are... well that is because WE have not held their feet to the fire... a third party would be no better beacause basically American;s are lazy, have a manana attitude and let the other guy do it attitude... heck most cannot even bother to vote and then they sit back an complain.

You got that right!

Nah, he’s just covering his Messianic backside for when this liberal wet dream of a “stimulus” plan destroys the economy.

I believe we should plan to recapture the republican party because starting a new party has no guarantees and it would take too long. First, we need to certify true conservatives already within the party. Any deviation and they lose their certification.

Exactly right. Exactly.

Here's how -

Here's a 'clear and evident' message on this - we need to listen to every word this hero - read his bio, you'll recognize who he is = listen to what he says. He lays out the plan we should - NEED - to follow...and we need him to run again - and get more people like him in line.

We should look in places OTHER than most of them already in gov't - and DON"T look among the lawyers.

This man, LTC West is a military hero, was in command many years.

Reagan was NOT a lawyer. Bush was NOT a lawyer.

Pick out your best leaders and check their backgrounds - you won't find many lawyers. Alternately, most ALL democrats in DC are lawyers. (Lawyers are taught to lie and obfuscate - and they do it well.)

You say, as having, evidently, the last word on the subject: “You’re either going to have to live with the GOP being Liberal Party II, or at some point walk away. “

How ‘bout we find and get behind people like LTC Allen West and follow his lead - get busy in your own backyard with your local Republican Committee, where the candidates are initially found and put into the pipeline.

The enemy would rejoice over republicans ‘walking away’ and wasting time an energy in a pie in the sky “new party” scheme. Indeed, I think lib plants are promoting just that.

Listen to this man. He tells us how to do it. And we can’t sit back listen and clap and ‘yeah”. We have to role up our OWN sleeves and get active - NOW...

Quick to tell everyone here what to do and how to do it?

Looking at your home state, it looks like the rubber has yet to meet the road.

After you get “busy” in you own back yard and it becomes a bastion of Conservatism, then get back to us on how it's done.

Thanks for the ping. I phoned my Dem rep’s local AND DC office to give my opinion. They said they were receiving a lot of calls on the issue. Then again, that’s what they always say.
