UPDATE ON DAD

Today dad has been much brighter in himself but the biggest hurdle is still the chest infection and the ability to cough and clear what is on his chest.

The physio managed to get a lot off his chest and he did twice whilst i was there also bring some up which is good but he is very weak and it exhausts him both times.

He is much more aware and aware of how sick he has and is but also the fact he is complaining about his nostril hurting means that he a lot more with it and hopefully therefore making gradual improvement. The nostril is sore because one side is the feeding tube and other is where they vacuum what he manages to cough up.

He is now on liquids and light food. I got a jug of water down him plus cup of tea and 2 pots of jelly and one of ice cream. Plus a carton of fruit juice. I asked him what flavour the jelly was to see if his taste was OK and to show my old dad is still there he did not say orange but was much more exact and said tangerine.

On the whole encouraging but cautious news as the chest infection has to be overcome quickly for him to progress and he must get his strength back which does not help when we have issues over how operate the machine that powers the feed. It was meant to go back up at 6.00pm but 3 nurses had problems trying to get it going, they even got a new pump but still did not work. In the end when the night shift came on the same nurse who put it up last night found out that the tube from the feed bag to the machine was the problem and renewed it. So feed was 3 hours late going up. Again I did not leave the ward until it was running.

Once again I thank you for your thoughts and prayers and would ask for strength for dad to cough and clear his chest and lungs and that problems with the feed would be overcome.

Love
Eleanor

Lord, I pray again for strength for Snug’s Dad and for healing from this chest infection. Raise him up again to better health than he had before this illness. Thank you for hearing and answering our prayers. Give Snugs the strength and endurance and grace she needs. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

I’m so glad to hear there’s improvement .. may God
grant him the strength he needs to clear the congestion
and gain his appetite.

Thank you for posting this update, Snugs. I know you
must be exhausted and so weary. God keep you strong
and blessed with faith in His will.

There could be no more devoted daughter, I know that.
How blessed he is in you.

God bless you and keep your health strong. That’s also
so important.

Continuing prayers for you both.

Heavenly Father, grant unto Snugs’ beloved father the strength that comes from the Holy Spirit, enabling him to do all things through Christ who strengthens him. Quickly take from him the chest infection that compromises his recovery, even as You stabilize the feeding complications. Place a hedge of protection around him, O Lord, that nothing would hinder his complete recovery.

And grant unto Snugs the strength and encouragement and the wisdom to intervene for her Dad, that both would soon know the joy and the warmth of coming home.

May it be so, O Lord, in the Precious Name of Jesus we pray, Amen ...

Prayers up for your Dad.

I wonder if there are any breathing exercises he could be doing, to help strengthen his lungs.
