This is why he didn’t run for POTUS.
He knew what was coming.
Now he realizes he can do more for the country by repairing our party first.

He wouldn’t float this unless he really wants to do it.

Surely he considered running for POTUS, but look how vehemently he denied it.

This guy can clean the Dems clock, and they know it...
thats why they destroyed him as speaker.
They can’t touch him as RNC chair.

I just realized something...
I don’t even know who the GOP Chairman currently is.

I know who the DNC chairman is, and who his predecessor was.
And I know who the past two GOP chairmen were.

But whoever we’ve got in there now has been in hiding since he took the job.
Is it any wonder the GOP got trounced?

As long as Newt keeps his pants on, I will support the "Good Professor". He is the best communicator we have and I think he could spur a redo of the 1994 "Contract With America".

I also think we need a nationalized approach for ALL open Senate and House seats, centralize the campaigning focus, and re-establish the ground teams that were MIA in 2008.

Use NO ONE in the McCain campaign planning team, cease the Gov Palin trashing, get her front and center for stirring up excitement, and get a rational energy plan going.

Without sounding wacko or shrill, we also need to expose the idiots who brought us the Freddie-Fannie fiasco, depose congress-critters who were responsible, and prosecute others.

Again, without sounding shrill or wacko, we need to expose and discredit Barry, starting with his credentials for serving (COLB and citizenship). Unlike Rush, BOR, and other pundits, I think there is "something there" that just plain does not add up. Barry is hiding something.

I generally like Newt’s ideas, but I think he might have too much baggage.

Your point is valid, but keep in mind that a party chairmanship is a position where "baggage" doesn't matter all that much. It's not as if he's running for public office, and in fact he will be fully aware that this is the kind of position where a lot of negative media coverage will be a good sign that he's doing a great job.

It sure would be a positive move. Four years ago the Bush man appointed Mel Martinez and we certainly fell off the cliff. Maybe a coalition consisting of the young guys who got out the vote for Bush (I forgot their names). Maybe even consider political operative Dick Morris to assist Newt(I know Morris????) but we need help.

That would be awesome.

2012 = Haley Barbour/Bobby Jindal with Sarah Palin as Energy Secretary and Duncan Hunter as Secretary of State.

While these next four years will be hard times for America, I hope and pray that the American people will wake up and realize that the Democratic Party has been taken over by Socialists who are determined to destroy America from within.

If Newt can get the Chairmanship and start rallying support behind the true conservatives and kick the RINOs off to the side, I believe that we can take back both the House and Senate in 2010, making Obama a lame duck for his last two years in office. Then, in 2012, Newt needs to find a good, solid conservative to run for the White House and we need to put all of our support behind him or her, so that the Democrats are absolutely crushed on Election Day 2012.

I also think that sufficient conservative rage will “scare straight” any republicans exhibiting mild symptoms of rino-itis. So it won’t all be uphill battle.

I was never a “big” supporter of Newt but our party is in such disaray that we need his knowledge to get it back on track.

The RNC will never see another penny from me until it “changes” believe I heard that word some where before???

I will be sending messages to them, we all need to wake them up...no more nice guy for me, I'm ready to treat B Hussein Obama just like he treated our President while a Senator and while running for this office he does not deserve. for me and my family friends it is PAYBACK time

I agrewe with you 100%.

I don't think I've seen a person on the national scene in my lifetime who was so perfectly suited for the role of an "opposition leader" as Newt Gingrich was.

If you want to get a sense of just how successful he was, I will bring y'all back to a Vanity Fair article after the 2000 election in which the author conducted an "exit interview" of sorts with Bill Clinton before he left office.

When asked what he considered his greatest accomplishment in the White House, Clinton's response was that he successfully "stopped the Republican Revolution" after the 1994 elections. AND THIS DOPE ACTUALLY SIGNED MOST OF THE ITEMS IN THE "CONTRACT WITH AMERICA" INTO LAW.
