Florida Congressional candidate Eddie Adams Jr. (R) was admitted to Tampa General Hospital Sunday suffering from severe burns on the hands and arms. He will be undergoing additional skin grafts Tuesday.

A vandal tied a mattress to the underside of Mr. Adams pick-up truck. Friction with the road, and contact with the catalytic converter combined to ignite the bedding.

As he drove down Busch Boulevard in Tampa, Florida, onlookers began to wave and shout

IMO, outside agitators are in Florida doing random acts of violence and intimidation. Floridians do not act this way. Bambi sent 4,000 attorneys and one can only wonder how many thugs Bambi sent to Florida to atttack Republicans.

Agreed, tying that up wouldn’t be a big problem. Tying up a standard mattress 8 inches thick, 4+ feet wide under a truck would be difficult. The center would sag and drag alerting the driver. It also would be very visible. A lawn chair “matress” or the like seems much more plausible.

FReeper Nick Danger personally spoke with Eddie Adams earlier. Eddie states he does not recall running over a box spring. It was “stuck” under his vehicle. There are conflicting reports about how the mattress ended up under his vehicle.

Why don’t you call Eddie yourself, like I did. The mattress was TIED to the frame.

I did call Eddie. Just like you did. I would not characterize him as saying that the mattress (he said 'box spring') was TIED to the frame. He said it was stuck to the frame, but he wasn't sure how it got that way. It may have just been jammed under there while they were trying to get it out from under the truck.

He couldn't imagine running over the thing and not noticing it, but — according to him — others have told him that he ran over it.
