Obama Campaign/Schumer Lie: Our Donations Are Coming from Average Citizens
http://www.freerepublic.com ^ | 9/14/2008 | Jilliane

Less than 3.5% of all registered Democrats have donated to Obama and the majority have been MAJOR donors, not small ones as has been misstated repeatedly by the Obama campaign. The latest lie came today with the announcements that $66 million were raised in August and that the greatest part is that the donations "come in the $10s and $25s from the average citizen", quoting Sen. Schumer on Sunday, 9/14/08 on Meet the Press.

Even Tom Brokaw responded in doubt: "But a lot of them come from big friends of yours on Wall Street and New York, and people have big chunks of money..." Indeed, Mr. Brokaw. The numbers don't lie like Schumer does.

August's $66 mil brings Obama's total fundraising to $456,000,000 to date. The campaign gave us the important numbers of 500,000 new donors and 2,500,000 total donors, so we can do the math.

Let's say donors who gave $10s & $25s gave an average of $17.50. We know that they have donors over $25 but to give them the best case scenario, if ALL 2,500,000 donors were from "average citizens" who gave $17.50 then the campaign would have raised no more than $43,750,000. That's $412,250,000 less than actual contributions. That proves that the majority of donors have NOT given $10s and $25s as they've misstated.

When Brokaw corrected Schumer on the spin and correctly stated that Obama's donors are from "people with big chunks of money" - what did Schumer say? "But, but the percentage of average voters sending in money is, is remarkably high, higher than it's been in any campaign."

So much for the donations coming in the form of $10s and $25s; he switches to % of money coming from average donors. Let's look at the %. There were 72,000,000 registered democrats in 2004 and the Obama camp has bragged that democrat voter registration has increased. Using the lower 72 million Democrat number, they've raised money from 2,500,000 donors - that's an unimpressive 3.5% of Democrats who've donated - average or otherwise and if that's "remarkably high" well, consider that the 3.5% assumes all the donors are registered Democrats, which they aren't so the % is even lower from the party.

Obama has spent $379,000,000 of the $456,000,000 he’s raised INCLUDING the $66 mil reported in Aug.

He has only $77 mil left of the gushes of major gifts he’s received. He can blow money as well as he blows coke.

Some of the donors are also giving many small donations rather than one large one to bring the average down.

I want to know about Obama's big donors.

Specifically, I want names and dollar values.

Something tells me that some of the most dangerous people/organizations in the world are financing Obama's campaign.

I have zero doubts about this given his close, personal associations with openly hostile monsters like Jeremiah Wright and Bill Ayers.

I know so very little, but want to learn so much about that little deceptive sack of manure named Obama.

Most of the donors are giving very large donations.
Repeat small donors won’t make a dent in the $400 million. That’s not how large campaigns are run and Brokaw surprisingly called Schumer on it and Schumer switched quickly to the percentage of average donors. Their total donor percentage is less than 3.5% so how much impact could small donors have made? Not much.

Schumer should stick to his expertise on overseeing banking.

Big Donors Are a Major Force in Obama Campaign
In an effort to cast himself as independent of the influence of money on politics, Senator Barack Obama often highlights the campaign contributions of $200 or less that have amounted to fully half of the $340 million he has collected so far.(that was $116 million ago or about 2 months ago)

But records show that one-third of his record-breaking haul has come from donations of $1,000 or more: a total of $112 million, more than Senator John McCain, Mr. Obama’s Republican rival, or Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton, his opponent in the Democratic primaries, raised in contributions of that size.
Behind those larger donations is a phalanx of more than 500 Obama “bundlers,” fund-raisers who have each collected contributions totaling $50,000 or more. Many of the bundlers come from industries with critical interests in Washington. Nearly three dozen of the bundlers have raised more than $500,000 each, including more than a half-dozen who have passed the $1 million mark and one or two who have exceeded $2 million, according to interviews with fund-raisers.

Obama has spent $379,000,000

Given what he's gotten for it, he wants us to believe he is a qualified executive?

McCain has raised less but has more cash on hand than Obama . Obama had a longer primary but McCain wasn’t exactly raking in the bucks during the primary. McCain’s fundraising just started picking up and Obama has been “breaking records” all along.

Where’s the money? Maybe we should check with Ayers.
