The Confluence:
Clinton Delegates are pi*sed. The Clinton National Delegate Network, a grassroots movement of delegates is on the streets of Denver collecting signatures from Hillary delegates.
This eleventh hour effort is being organized to ensure that delegates who were elected to represent the voters of each state can and will vote for the candidate they were pledged to.
The DNC and Nancy Pelosi, the Chairman of the Democratic Convention, are doing everything in their power to make sure that does not happen.
With Obamas flagging support, according to the polls, running neck and neck with McCain, they are very worried that Hillary will get the nomination if a roll call vote takes place on the convention floor.
That is why they are making the delegates have a secret hotel vote, instead of the floor vote thats been done since forever. The hotel vote will purportedly take place on Wednesday morning, August 27, 2008.
However, there is a DNC rule that says if 20% of a candidates delegates sign a petition for a roll call vote, it must happen.
This means that Hillary needs 826 of her delegates to sign this petition. I visited their headquarters along with BettyJean, Pagan, Hill08, and BrendaLynn.
As we set out on our mission, we got three signatures in less than one block. They headed for the Pepsi Center to collect more, and got about 40 in an hour, and I came back to Puma Headquarters to blog. Last word I got was there were over 400 signatures gathered.
Pagan reports that he talked to a delegate who originally supported Hillary.
The delegate declined to sign or divulge the delegation he was from. He said he would vote the way his state party told him to vote and that Terry McAuliffe had instructed them in how to vote.
When Pagan asked if hed mind sharing what that way of voting would be, he also declined, and then just turned his head and refused to engage in the conversation anymore.
Delegates have reported to us that Obama supporters are stationed outside of each delegations room with clipboards, ready to make sure that once again, despite their best efforts to represent their constituents (approximately 12,000 voters per delegate in the case of primaries, and 585 in the case of caucuses), that Hillary delegates and voters are ROBBED of their democratic rights.
As recently as this afternoon, we knew that the hotel vote would take place in each delegation on Wednesday morning, and that Hillary would have a special luncheon with her delegates at 1pm. Rumor had it that she might release her delegates then.
~~DING!
Go Hillary! Get those signatures!!
~~DING!
It would be useful to have the Report of the Rules and Bylaws Committee now. It was scheduled to be adopted yesterday as the first order of business at the convention.
Thanks. I’ve got about 30 minutes.
Is the hotel vote holding water?
didn’t Hillary! just pick up a bunch of delegates when the convention opened and they decided to seat ALL the Michigan and FLorida delegates?
holy sh*t.
Many Tennessee delegates will give their vote to Hillary. She won this state and they agree and feel obligated.

We really need a copy of the rules that were ratified yesterday. If these old rules are still in effect, it looks like they will have to completely ignore them in order to proceed as some news reports suggest they intend to do.
Socialists make up the rules as they go along.
BUMP
I looked and couldn’t find it.
They quashed the applause at the end. This is not over ...
Watched my local news tonight and they showed video of this protest and the reporter said there was as LEAST 1,000 Hillary supporters chanting and holding up Hillary campaign signs.
BTW, is what the Obama people doing legal? Can’t she try to wrest the nomination away from him?
The whole way they would not let any Hillary signs in the hall until 5 minutes before her speech. Then they handled out WHITE bland signs with Obama signs on the back of them.
She does her speech and they take the signs away and close down for the evening.
Oh, and the TV shot of all the people outside also given the white signs. What’s up with that!
But she already conceded that at the dnc tonight and put her support behind Obama, right? So how could they vote her in?
Whoa!

Clinton die-hards voice Obama anger in convention protest

Defiant Hillary Clinton loyalists have marched through Denver to vent anger at the outcome of the bitter Democratic primary race, in a final show of support for their beaten idol.
More than 1,000 supporters of the former first lady have paid vocal tribute to her campaign, just hours before Clinton’s to address Democrats in a speech that party officials hope will heal the split caused by the nominating battle.
Despite calls for a unified front heading into November’s presidential election, many of Clinton’s supporters say they’ll never be able to forgive Barack Obama for his hard-fought victory.
Obama has fled the convention to try to keep the focus on his messages, and off any drama unfolding in Denver.
