Below are a collection of articles about and by Rashida Tlaib, Obama's new Muslim outreach director. She is not fond of border security. She is on the board of a questionable organization...

“Rashida Tlaib, a Palestinian Muslim extremist whose candidacy was touted across the country on extremist Muslim and anti-Israel mailing lists, is unfortunately a viable candidate for this seat,” posted Debbie Schlussel, a conservative blogger based in Michigan.

Schlussel want on to say, “Tlaib was a top official at ACCESS, the Arab Community Center for Economic and Social Services, the agency that gets millions in your tax money to help illegal aliens, fight immigration laws and supports Hezbollah and Hamas.”

Tlaib is on the board of ACCESS (Arab Community Center for Economic and Social Services). This is North America's largest Arab welfare agency that funded commercial driving lessons and attempts to get hazardous-materials hauling certificates for Ahmed Hannan and Karim Koubriti, members of a Detroit al-Qaida cell. Testimony at their trial revealed that the men planned to bomb the MGM Grand Casino and a host of other prominent US sites.

More chilling is that since ACCESS’ multi-million dollar budget is largely tax-funded, tax dollars likely paid for these men to get their "job training" organized by ACCESS. Tlaib also supported the ACCESS sponsored and funded the Second Annual Palestinian Students Divestment Conference at the University of Michigan. The conference’s keynote speaker was Sami Al-Arian, US leader of the Islamic Jihad terrorist group, now serving a prison sentence. His activities were well-known at the time, including letters stating that "the merger with the brothers in Hamas" was almost complete and bragging of a successful bus-bombing in Israel. Other conference speakers included assorted anti-Semites and anti-Westerners who had previously exhorted violence against and murder of Jews.In 2002, ACCESS was raided by federal agents in a Medicaid fraud investigation. A television report and several newspaper articles said ACCESS was involved in helping foreign Arabic women fraudulently obtain Medicaid to have their babies here in the United States.

Again, Tlaib is on the board. Oh, and Tlaib's close friend, ACCESS President & Lawyer/ACLU Board Member Noel Saleh openly stated he gave money to Hezbollah and represents a number of accused terrorists.

Finally, an article by Tlaib herself...

Unfair Detentions Rise at US-Canada Border New America Media, Commentary, Rashida Tlaib, Posted: Feb 01, 2007

Translation in Arabic.

EDITOR'S NOTE: Males of Middle Eastern descent feel humiliated by Homeland Security agents' practice of summarily detaining, handcuffing and questioning at the Northern border, reports Rashida Tlaib, advocacy coordinator of the Arab Community Center for Economic and Social Services in Detroit, Michigan. IMMIGRATION MATTERS regularly features the views of the nation's leading immigrant rights advocates.

DETROIT -- Americans of Middle Eastern background are being stopped and questioned more frequently by Homeland Security agents at the U.S./Canada border.

Community advocates are noting that a familiar pattern has emerged at the crossing.

American males of Middle Eastern background in their late 30s are removed from their vehicles, handcuffed and interrogated for hours. Some report being dragged out of their cars and handcuffed throughout the interrogation period.

No reason or apology is given afterwards. Instead, a complaint form is given out, to be filled and sent to the Department of Homeland Security. Going through such an ordeal is most disturbing to those traveling with their spouses and young children.

“My children saw their father being taken away like a criminal,” says Ibrahim Dabdoub, 38, of Maumee, Ohio. Dabdoub has been detained more than three times as he returned from Canada after visiting his parents and in-laws in Windsor.

Most recently, the border patrol officers actually remembered his name and yet continued to go through the same steps of detention and interrogation.

“I have never been in trouble with the law,” says Dabdoub, “I have never been arrested. I have a reputation with my family, close friends and business associates as being a stickler for following rules and valuing the integrity of the law.”

Dabdoub was born in Saudi Arabia, but because of his Palestinian nationality he was never granted citizenship in that country. He grew up in Canada where his family immigrated when he was five years old. He never imagined that 30 years later he and his family would again be treated unfairly because of their heritage.

But this time it’s different. The United States, which recently swore him in as U.S. Citizen _ it was one of the proudest moments of his life – is directly targeting him with no just cause, because he is an Arab-American.

The first time that Dabdoub experienced the interrogation, about five officers gathered around him and his vehicle. One of the officers asked him to put his hands on the back of his car and made him spread his legs. He was frisked and then handcuffed. His rights were not read to him and he was not informed of the reason for his detention. He was eventually led into a detention room in the back of the customs building, with two guards stationed to watch over him during the interrogation.

After 30 minutes of being held, he asked an officer for the reason for his treatment. The officer replied by asking him questions about his ethnic background and his travels to the Middle East. He was later led to another room where he was fingerprinted and photographed.

Dabdoub knew he was most likely not the only American who has experienced the ordeal, so he reported his treatment to the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) and American Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee (ADC). The two organizations have received similar reports from others are following up on this issue with the appropriate offices.

Dabdoub is known as a hard worker and devoted father and husband, so he can’t understand why he is being singled out repeatedly at the border.

The likely reason is that the unwarranted detention is part of the controversial “No Fly Lists” program, which has prevented some passengers from boarding planes, causing lengthy delays for many confused travelers at airports. Even Sen. Ted Kennedy of Massachusetts somehow was put on the list and detained five times.

The “No Fly Lists” was initiated by President George Bush in 2003. It combines names from all the intelligence agencies that were put into a secret government database for use at the airports. The intelligence community refuses to reveal the criteria for getting on the list. It’s been confirmed that the No Fly List is inaccurate, outdated and continues to cause concern for individuals traveling within and outside of the U.S.

The list has grown from a little over 15 names before 9/11 to a reported 40,000. More than 70,000 names are reportedly on a different list requiring additional security screening, which is most likely hampering Americans from the Middle East from traveling freely from Canada to the U.S.

Dabdoub says that people coming across the border gawked at him “as I was being led away.” “I looked to my left and saw some people in their vehicles pointing and watching me.”

He reluctantly refuses to travel into Canada for fear of being targeted when coming back into the U.S., and he has missed family birthdays and gatherings. “I feel like I am in a prison and I cannot visit my family,” he laments.

Curious how the same people who danced in the streets when the towers fell all gravitate toward the bloated belching fire god Ted Kennedy party?

Raised in a Latino area in Detroit they helped her numbers because ACCESS was raided on Aug 5th for Medicare fraud. She was a board member until veerrry recently. Illegals know how to cheat the sytem, thought a fellow traveler no doubt could keep the gravy train rolling.
