Obama was likely born in Hawaii does that mean hes Eligible? July 22, 2008 · 19 Comments
*The birth announcement was tracked down by Lori Starfelt, the producer of a documentary that PUMA is working on.
Thanks!
Thanks!
To be eligible one must be born within the physical boundaries of the United States or its territories.
That's what I always thought, but the Constitution doesn't say that. According to laws passed by the First Congress under the Consitution: "[T]he children of citizens of the United States that may be born beyond sea, or outside the limits of the United States, shall be considered as natural born citizens." So John McCain is a "natural born citizen" wherever he was born.
There is some question about whether McCain was born on US soil, though. The hospital at Coco Solo Naval Air Station was built in 1941, after he was born. But was there an earlier ward or hospital hospital there on the base or the submarine station before that? As we've seen it probably doesn't matter constitutionally, but if he were born on Panamanian territory somebody out there might care.
As for Obama, if someone could prove that his mother had gone to Kenya before he was born, this controversy would have better staying power. Simply to say she may have gone there and speculate on that basis isn't very convincing. It would have been a long trip in those days, and uncomfortable for a pregnant woman. Obama's mother also probably wouldn't have gotten a warm welcome from her husband's family and first wife.
Even if Obama acts like he has something to hide, it doesn't mean he was born overseas. If you weren't sure whether your parents had actually been legally married -- as Obama implied in his book -- you probably wouldn't want to release documentation about them either.
FR Lame-O-Rama! Every day a thread on O’Bambino’s alleged birth.
Maybe he has compelling reasons to not put Constitutional eligibility on the table?
Not according to his birth certificate he wasn't. See post #155
I learn as much from reading comments as from the posts!
***Same with me, and also the same is true here on FR, but I have trouble keeping up.
Besides which, McCain was born on Panamanian turf, not in the Canal Zone.
I followed your link and dont see any reference in it to a Kenyan birth (but theres interesting info on his fundraising).
It’s a big page and there’s a lot of information there. I am not sure how much I trust. This is what I found by searching on ‘Kenya’:
And then of course, there are the other birth certificates in in this curious tale of the charlatan’s COLB:....a birth certificate from the Kenyan city of Mombasa registering the birth of Barack Obama Jr. on August 4, 1961.
June 5, 2008 -Obama is not eligible to be President
“WMR’s intelligence sources in Africa are reporting that amid the post-election turmoil wracking Kenya, a three-person team (including a possible Korean-American woman) arrived in Nairobi last week and began asking questions about Barack Obama’s father, the late Barack Obama, Sr. The team also inquired about the Senator Obama Secondary School in Nyangoma-Kogelo in northwestern Kenya, the area where Obama’s father, an ethnic Luo, hailed and where his grandmother, Sarah Ogwel Onyango, still lives.”
Why not? What’s to fear?
It now appears that this same team traveled to Mombasa and dug up a certificate registering the birth of Barack Obama Jr. to his father, a Kenyan citizen, and mother, an American citizen. The GOP hopes to make the claim that Senator Obama is not eligible to become President of the United States because he was born in a foreign country, or, at the very least, plant the seed in the voters’ minds that Obama is a foreigner even if the charge is false.
McCain certifiably was not born on US territory.
Trying to explain why our foreign born candidate is eligible, while asserting that their foreign born candidate isn't eligible to a typical public school mal-educated voter is a non-starter.
The only viable solution is to dump 'em both, and for whatever reason the republican power structure likes McCain.
I suppose someone has to...
Thanks for doing your part and bumping the thread back to the top.
I noticed quite a number of people that were posting on our big birth certificate thread have not been posting since July 15 and 16. Interesting.
***I think it’s because the issue has not been picked up by the MSM. Today’s republican party has no courage. Obama is stonewalling it and he is likely to be successful.
You misread my post.
If you are going to buy the release, you buy the name; the legitimacy; how come they dodge the issue and give you the fake birth certificate?
I saw the Texas Darlin copy for only a minute last night and noted a word following the details which I assumed was the hospital--it looked as though the other birth's were announced to the hospital; I read one of you to say the hospital is not identified so if so, what is the additional word?
Also, I now find I can't get in to Texas Darlin's web site to look at the paper--does anyone know why not? Or where to look?
I do this at an internet terminal in an airport but will check my PM's and Posts from the hotel late this afternoon.
Sorry if I misread your post.
Glad to see you are still around too.
The newspaper clip is at this thread here:

It only says:
Mr. and Mrs. Barack H. Obama, 6085 Kalanlonsole Hwy., son. Aug. 4.
McCain’s birth certificate has “Republic of Panama” in big letters as part of the patterned background.
Nothing would give me greater pleasure to have him scrubbed as the Republican candidate. But he managed to get a Senate resolution passed - not yet an approved part of the Constitutional eligibility for President requirement - stating that a child born in a military hospital overseas to parents who are both U.S. citizens is a natural born citizen of the U.S.
Obama tried to have wording added to that resolution stating that a child born overseas to an unwed female U.S. citizen would automatically be considered a natural born citizen. Representative Caskil (D) - I may have her name spelled wrong here - tried getting the wording included but Ted Olson was on the Senate’s review committee and nixed the attempt. This information here was from an article posted on FreeRepublic but I can’t recover it and have no link.
How truly amazing it would be if both candidates were disqualified due to not being born here.
