The dresses Obama’s mom wears are typical of daily wear in Hawaii. Been there twice and stayed in son’s home several weeks each time so visited with people every day plus shopped their stores. His mom is wearing a Mumu. They are baggy dresses which helps one stay cool. Every day Mumus are fairly cheap and made of cotton but nicer stores have georgous ones costing in the hundreds. Missionaries thought up and sewed these dresses when they came to Hawaii and saw bare chested women. The first Hawaiian women who got them cut two holes in them so their breasts would show. It was back to the drawing board to teach the women not to cut those holes. Mumus are totally comfortable, nothing binding the waist. Anyway, the mom is wearing a Mumu, not necessarily a maternity dress but they do work for that condition very well.
This is a typical maternity top of the 60's.
Killjoys.
