Barack Obama stooped to a new low in his campaign of division and distraction on Saturday when he scraped the bottom of the barrel in his inference that John McCain may be partially to , blame for levee collapses throughout the region. In a prepared statement Obama stated, "I know ...

In a prepared statement Obama stated, “I know that Sen. McCain felt as strongly as I did, feeling enormous sympathy for the victims of the recent flooding. I’m sure they appreciated the sentiment, but they probably would have appreciated it even more if Sen. McCain hadn’t opposed legislation to fund levees and flood control programs, which he considers pork.”

Desperate already?

Obama LIES when his lips move:

Just The Facts:

#1) In his speech Obama conveniently failed to mention the bill actually passed, despite opposition by a small Bi-Partisan group pointing out the fact that the bill failed to address needed reforms in the waterways protection system.

#2) John McCain never voted against the bill, in fact on the final senate vote and the veto override vote neither John McCain nor Barack Obama cast a vote.

#3) A Small group of Senators led by Russ Feingold opposed the bill because if failed to reform the process by which projects were prioritized and monitored, failed to reform the Army Corp of Engineers, and failed to establish a waterways commission; all of which were called for in the years prior too and after Katrina, as necessary reforms by the GAO, other oversight agencies and independent studies.

CNN excerpt

Obama opposed and even voted against a bipartisan effort in the Senate by McCain; Sens. Russ Feingold, D-Wisconsin; and Claire McCaskill, D-Missouri; to ensure that levees were fixed first.

At issue is the 2007 Water Resources Development Act, a $23 billion bill that funded levee and flood control programs along with dozens of other projects across the country, including Everglades and other habitat restoration, emergency water supply storage, lock and dam security, and water quality improvement.

The bill passed Congress, with Obama in favor and McCain opposed, although neither took part in the final vote.

The measure was vetoed by President Bush as too expensive, but that veto was overridden, a first for the president. Neither McCain nor Obama participated in the override vote.

The Senate votes were 91-4 for the first vote and 79-14 for the override.

During the initial debate in the Senate, Obama voted against an amendment, sponsored by Feingold and co-sponsored by McCain and others, that would have established a commission to prioritize water projects, with flood control at the top of the list.

Thirty-five Republicans joined 34 Democrats in rejecting the amendment. Although he was a co-sponsor, McCain did not vote on the amendment. McCaskill, who was not a co-sponsor, voted in favor of it.

When is the GOP going to start fighting back and point out the distortions and lies? Are we willing to lose the fight without taking a swing at the opposition? To me, this is a make-or-break election where you truly have an opponent who is more than a socialist...he’s a Marxist...yet we continually let him get away with murder. Grow a spine, GOP, and start setting the record straight.

Wait till Obama claims that McCain’s real purpose is to kill off the rest of New Orleans — right now highly toxic waste is flowing down the Mississippi headed for New Orleans.

Obama lies? Well, he is a politician. But more than that his religion is Isflam. What he says is flam. Not as accomplished as Bill Clinton, the Grand Wallah of Isflam, but he's getting there.

although neither took part in the final vote.

It was such an important issue to Obama that he did not even vote. What a dork.

When is the GOP going to start fighting back and point out the distortions and lies?

As soon as conservatives gain back control of the GOP/RNC...I don't know if it can happen with rino McCain. Bush destroyed the republican Party with moderation because conservatives had to vote with him for the most part on domestic stupid spending bills and this cost the party dearly.

Now McCain as nominee will drive the party further into Rinoville and we may be looking at another 40 to 50 years of Dem control unless conservatives get off their lazy asses and start fighting!

Obama is getting The Stupid Vote. You will hear this repeated this summer at the elite cocktail parties in The Hampton's.

“Now, Buffy, please run along and bring me an extra dry martini, will you dear?”

Boy. What a crock. Obama is a bumbling fool and his wife makes Hitlery look like a kindergartner. *shudder*

Lets hope they both make monstrous public mistakes that can’t be mended in time for the convention.

Perhaps in this case, the enemies of God are confounding themselves. No outside help needed.

I fear you may be right. I know I'll not give a dime until I see some substantive changes in the direction the GOP is taking.
