Too peaceful is the protest in Tibet?
NYT ^ | Liangliang

Posted on 05/18/2008 4:11:08 AM PDT by nutspea

I do not know if this article suit to be posted here, but I just want to speak something.

Today when I went to NYT and an review attracted my attention, title "fed up with peace" (http://www.nytimes.com/2008/05/18/opinion/18kristof.html). This article frightens me. There it covered a monk who claimed that he( Dalai Lama) has been too peaceful over the China, and they should take some actions more violent, especially when he is gone. It depicts that this impatience seems widespread among young Tibetans , and remarks that the Dalai Lama should return Tibet as a spiritual leader and own more rights. Most important, it also observes, that China government should stop sending Han migrants to all Tibetan areas, to preserve their Tibetan character.

After finished reading I think there is a need to leave comments. To prevent wasting the time, I just want to ask the author one question, that is: You call for more rights to Tibet, but did you ever ask yourself such a question that to whom is this freedom belong? To judge the affairs in Tibet one must consult the history instead of vainly murmuring about the present. Don't you think it's weird that in the process of "free Tibet" movement only several monks and oversea persons stand up, instead of masses of Tibetans? After informed yourself with the past history of serfs in Tibet when ruled by these Lamas, could you tell me to whom is this freedom would be given if the Tibet is once again ruled by monks?

About the last remark of migrants, it makes me a little confused that as I can remember American always support culture diversity and communication. One thought in your head and another in mine, but if we make changes there go more than two. The same, the collision of culture will result more thoughts and help both the Han people and Tibetans, isn't it? Does it benifit the Tibetans more by isolating them?

“your illusion how miserable tibetan live under the rule of Chinese has place an tag of pro-tibetan-independdence on you head “

What does that mean? I hope it’s your poor knowledge of English that made you write that sentence instead of any ill feeling toward a respected member of this forum and a good FRiend.

In any case, you’ll might probably come to the USA one day on a PLA/CCP scholarship to study here and/or for industrial espionage. Please be aware that the ChiCom thuggery that you practice at home against Buddhist monks is not appreciated outside your country and such pronouncements might well get you into trouble with freedom lovers and independent thinkers.

“why does such a regime as barbaric as you refered make out economcy miracle”

The economic miracles that y’all tout so much are the direct result of American “free” trade policies. Without American companies giving you the technology, capital, and markets, China would be no better than N Korea in terms of economic development.

You should thank Pres. Nixon and BJ Clinton (and not syphilitic Mao or Deng) for your recent economic and military advances.

If America boycotts WalMart (unfortunately, not possible for all in this economy) and their PLA-manufactured goods, you’ll know the real power of what the US markets mean to you and your continued success.

Arrogance, ChiCom, is a very ironic trait - especially when it is exhibited by ignoramuses like you and your fellow ChiCom travelers.

I guess I shouldn't complain about that or even deny it. I said, on this thread, that my preference is that the U.S. send guns and butter to Tibet. This guy is just too slow of mind to catch that. Let me make it clearer; I disagree with the Dalai Lama's call for autonomy within China. I would like to see Tibetans drive the Chinese out with guns and missiles and if I were young enough I would go help them do it.

The other troll that I’ve been exchanging posts with claimed a couple of days ago that the reasons for Great Leap Forward and Cultural Revolution were because “people participated too much in running society and didn’t allow Mao to take complete charge” [paraphrase].

well, we succeed the real estimate from our ancestors.”
You’re Tibetan?

well, China’s claim to Tibet is a succession from ROC and Chinese empire. isn’t it enough?

according to someone’s logics, it is reasonable and acceptable for USA to buy land robbed by France/Spain from native American Indians. Then why insist that it is unacceptable for China to succeed the right from ROC and Chinese empire?

don’t you feel it is a double-standard?

"China’s claim to Tibet is a succession from ROC and Chinese empire. isn’t it enough?" What Chinese empire? Your talking points have been discredited thoroughly and yet you persist in using the same "arguments." By your logic, northern and southern China in their entirety (barring Tibet) belong to the Mongols. Mongolia has a greater claim to China (thanks Genghis and Kubilai) than Chinese pretensions re: Tibet.

So they blame themselves for not being good enough slaves? That explains a lot about their mindless parroting of CCP baloney. It also explains why they think Tibetans, Huigurs and Mongolians should feel honored to be beaten and killed for the sake of the state. It’s an ant hill mentality.

How embarrassing. I am realizing that my monkey in a cage metaphor falls too short of the truth. A monkey is tricked into thinking there is no cage because he lives there so long he knows nothing else and the keeper feeds the illusion.

badguy2200 and his kind are more like ants. They willingly serve the colony. But when an ant is born it has no choice but to be an ant. badguy2200 and his comrades are born human and choose to live like ants. That is beyond sad that is revolting.

then I can tell how most Chinese youth feel..

1,In CHinese forums, people are debating whether China should keep on its favourable treatment for monority ethnics, such as exempt from one-child policy, additional points for applying to univerities, speical subsidies....etc

many Chinese insist that such a speical better treatment is in fact a ethnic discrimination to Han-Chinese.

2,To those guys sticks to independence of Tibet or Xinjiang, most Chinese has not any mercy or sympathy.
Chinese may not support the communist government, but almost all CHinese firmly support the integirty of territory.
If Chinese communist government concede in the front the Tibet-independence and cann’t effectly suppress it, Chinese communist party would be overthrown by Chinese.

Nope. Mao set a standard Spain and France don't even come close to. If that's your heritage, we're not going to get along at all.

To those guys sticks to independence of Tibet or Xinjiang, most Chinese has not any mercy or sympathy.

So what is different? You Chinese showed no mercy when you invaded Tibet, killed 1.5 million and bombed 6,000 monasteries full of unarmed monks, nuns and the women and children from the countryside who sought refuge there.

If Chinese communist government concede in the front the Tibet-independence and cann’t effectly suppress it, Chinese communist party would be overthrown by Chinese.

So it's the Chinese people who want to keep Tibet in chains and the government just does it to keep you happy. You did say if you were unhappy with the communist government you would have overthrown it a long time ago.

Sure, you’ll make a great dominatrix. When they flub a talking point you can grind a spiked heel in their groin. When they get the talking point right...you can grind a spiked heel in their groin. It’s an easy job. No matter what they do grind them with a spiked heel. They must all address you as Precious Dragon Lady Who Makes Me Serve the Party. Long name but a lot of prestige.
