These attacks on Ron Paul clearly show how far to the left the GOP has moved.

Yes, and a couple posting on this thread, refer to themselves as "New" conservatives. Very telling. Go Dr. Paul! Blackbird.

>> I hear the President talk about the war, but it has been waged like “No Win War 3”

War is kinda like that — hell. A snapshot of the Allies in WW2 at certain points (Phillipines, Wake Island, Battle of the Bulge, many others) would be pretty depressing. “No Win War 2”. But we persevered and God was with us and we pulled it off.

Say, with the success of the surge, it could be like that in Iraq, also. Funny, even the Dems are starting to backpedal a little on the “we’ve lost this war” meme.

The press hasn’t got it all figured out yet, and neither do Dr. Paul and his supporters. They stand to get caught with their pants down when the real good news becomes completely out of phase with their doom and gloom drumbeat.

Gotta run...

Another issue is whether these people are willing to knock on doors and make phone calls for Dr. Paul. If they are willing to participate in those parts of the process, they could help move things in Dr. Paul's favor.

Indeed we are. Countless man hours are being spent doing just what you describe. And almost all of it is being done completely unknown and unorganized by the official campaign. The grassroots support is enormous.

Or as Ron Paul said in his interview with Tom McClintock, "It's really unbelievable what is going on and something I never anticipated. The campaign is not our campaign. It is their campaign and I have more or less joined them."

From: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=onckGDwPPac This interview is really good and Ron Paul discusses how strong the grassroots support is.

Oh uh... paper ballots?! Better call in the Diebold sales crew for the next poll.**

(* That's a joke.)

Congrats to Ron Paul and his many 3-man cells!

OPSTAT NOTE TO UNACTIVATED RON PAUL CELLS. GO CODE XMJ4+ZRX**

(** That's another joke.)

Seriously, I like Ron Paul. I like his "looney" (etc.) political views. I like what he says about life, liberty and, you know. All that old stuff in the Bill of Rights.

Bear with me for a moment, please.

I like many things about Paul but not his anti war stance about Iraq. I’d prefer Duncan Hunter, but here is my question:

Let’s say that you see your next door neighbor beating the tar out of his wife and you intervene to protect her.

Did you do the right thing? Absolutely.
Is this man likely to like for for intervening. NO!
Will he take action against you at some point? Possibly.

What does this have to do with Iraq?

We have intervened (rightly or wrongly, but mostly rightly IMO) over the years. Have we angered some Muslims because of it? Sure we have. Does that mean that we were wrong? No, but the fact remains, our actions brought about retaliatory attacks.

We are dealing now with the consequences of policies that have been in place for years and that may distance the cause and effect relationship, but actions have consequences as surely as words have meaning.

We must protect our national security and our national interests but that doesn’t mean that there won’t be blowback. We do need to be more circumspect in making entangling alliances as our Founders warned. That doesn’t mean isolationism. You can trade with our countries without taking sides.

Am I missing something? Is this not what Ron Paul is saying?

Thank you in advance for your reply.

PS — Allow me to say this. Constitutionally, I believe RP is right about the war but I believe that we have a real threat on our hands with this brand of Islam and we must extinquish that threat. That’s why I support Hunter.

“So Dr. Paul’s response to 9-11 would have been to /trade/ with Afghanistan and Saddam Hussein’s Iraq?”

No, Dr Paul’s response was to vote for the war in Afghanistan. He is not a pacifist. He is for a strong defense for America. He is 100% pro gun so American’s can defend themselves. He is for securing our borders — something that the current administration opposed.

Are you just unaware of Dr Paul’s positions or did you feel the need to misrepresent them?

It really is striking. The time has come for the campaign to organize those efforts more effectively. We have too many loose cannons and some people who want to use RP's campaign to promote their own ideas. The grassroots can't lead the campaign.

We have to find ways to organize and use all those supporters effectively. A lot of it will come down to whether Kent Snyder is a competent campaign manager. No doubt, he's feeling a little overwhelmed by it.

And that's somehow Paul's fault, how? The GOP doesn't own anyone's vote pal.

What's with the 'tude? When did I say it was 'Paul's' fault? Who said the GOP owned someone's vote?

You might come off as less psychotic if y'all would dispense with those rather large chips on your shoulders. You're not impressing anyone.

You people also need to cut down on the recreational refreshments--they kill brain cells. Obviously.

The others have been out there for many months now, building their bases. If Fred Thompson wants to be CIC then he had better show that he can COMMAND, way out in front on the issues as a LEADER, not just another also-ran nag left in the dust.

Gee, looks like he's doing a helluva lot better than declared candidate Ron Paul--his COMMAND of the interest without even having declared shows him to be a LEADER, not someone who follows the crowd. What does this babble about "way out in front on the issues as a LEADER" mean, anyway?

I guess Ronald Reagan, who hadn't declared at this point in his campaign, wasn't showing he could COMMAND, either?

What could help Paul if he is still in the race in January and February is anti-GWB sentiment. Some will vote for Paul just to protest GWB.

Look for Ron Paul to be the next Ross Perot. Running as an independent when he doesn't win in the primaries, to syphon Republican votes and hand Hillary the Presidency.

I can tell you how to make the whole Ron Paul issue shrivel up and blow away for ever. It's really quite simple and straightforward, not hard to do at all. It is this:

RUN A REPUBLICAN CANDIDATE WHO WILL ACTUALLY ADVANCE THE PARTY PLATFORM.

You do that and you'll win ninety-five percent of the Ron Paul voters. All most of us want is a Republican who is willing to walk the Republican talk.

It would be simple enough, but I'm not going to hold my breath until it happens.

Good point, and that is the last thing the RNC intends to do.

I don’t know about the anti-GWB sentiment but I do think Paul will be the Keyes of 2000. He’ll be in this thing until he’s denied a spot at the convention. As such he’ll pick up a lot of anti-whomever the eventual nominee is simply because he’s the only other one in. Paul doesn’t need much money to run a campaign like he’s doing and probably already has enough for the complete cycle.

On another note who do you think will be the winners or top draws at the straw poll in Ft. Worth the last of Aug?.

“No sir, what is pathetic was the failure of people who supported the other candidates to turn out and vote as this official Republican forum, which was widely advertised in both the Tuscaloosa and Birmingham papers. Apparently, they had something better to do, such as rearrange their sock drawer.”

Widely advertised? I live in alabama and this is the first I heard of this.

Sock Drawer. Actually, this poll is so meaningless that staying home to rearrange one’s sock drawer would be a mark of a sane person.

Widely advertised???

I live in Alabama (despite my name on here) and it’s the first I’ve heard of any vote of any kind.

99.9% of the state didn’t know about it, but I’m sure the Ron Paul machine made sure a few (all?) of his supporters in Alabama did.

This poll means nothing.

Bellyache all YOU want on how YOUR candidate will not generate enough interest to survive the primaries. Movement? What, a bowel movement. That’s about all you have with your moron candidate. And you’re full of it.
