“Hemingway wrote novels shorter then this post.”

And he was unpretentious compared to this guy, too.

The only true girlfriend I had during my two years in Seattle was from Tehran of all places!

I was also acquainted at one time with a spectacularly beautiful, brilliant and honorable Lady from Iran as well.  She ended up choosing the Koran (or Qui-ran, depending upon one's perspective) over the stoat's Christianity and Bible, and with her choice came a marriage to a brutish but wealthy and arrogant near-Islamist and bore the jerk two children.  They squabbled over whether to bring the children up in a 'traditional' (hardline) Islamic manner (hubby's favored choice) and divorced, with her getting the kids and the alimony checks.  The children are addicted to those handheld videogame thingies and in retrospect I'm glad that the only loss I suffered was that of another broken heart.

Marriage? Only if the woman is willing to be a slave and the law won’t permit it. The only thing, and I say the ONLY THING, that makes latin and islamic culture superior is that they know what women are for. Anglos are too wrapped up in the romantic notions that belong in fairy tales.

Good thing my separation was painless. My ex and I remain good friends.

Uh, Cacique, you obviously haven't dated many Latin women, have you. I've dated women from six Latin American countries. More dangerous than an AR-15, but some of us like it that way. ;-)

If you want a docile woman, marry a Chinese girl. Of course, they are docile because you just bought her a shopping spree at Coach, but I digress...

That’s only when they date anglos. They wouldn’t pull half that sh*t with another latin, they know better.

Tu es claro pal! The long suffering but most anxious and fortunate future Mrs rrrod is Latin. Never a dull moment.

According to this guy, if I get married, I’ll be old, lonely, and broke, and possibly in prison.

Look at the bright side. You’ll be the next Country Music Superstar.

It is an analogy not a metaphor. A metaphor is like "Drowning in Money". An anology is a comparison based on resemblence. The analogy he used is very sufficient though a bit hyperbolic but most analogies are.

The guy in story was innocent, the pedestrian was innocent

The guy in story was ran over by his wife emotionally and financially, the pedestrian was ran over literally

I am reminded that Raquel Welch is of Latin descent (born Jo Raquel Tejada; her father was Bolivian, her mother Irish-American) and this helps me to maintain an open mind toward dating opportunities with those who may hail from Southern climes  :-)

Beside’s the pettiness of his statement he is grammatically ignorant in his efforts. It is an analogy not a metaphor.

When our son’s first wife left him, he got a very good woman lawyer. She steered him very well through the whole process and he still has a mostly amicable relationship with the ex and has most of the time with the daughter. The ex wanted freedom to live how she wanted, already had another boyfriend. Anyway, our son has remarried now. We pray that this doesn’t happen again.

I think that I’d rather read more of Hemingway than I would of this silly thread.”

I read this and thought, then go read more about Hemingway, but then I see post 27 and you’re still here reading and posting, so does that make you a liar?
