Fred Thompson in 1994: Let The Woman Decide - Monday, April 09, 2007 @ 3:06:23 PM
|
During his first run for the U.S. Senate, Fred Thompson said in an interview to a libertarian Republican newsletter that the ultimate decision to have an abortion "must be made by the woman."
The comments were made in the July/August issue of Republican Liberty, the official newsletter of the Republican Liberty Caucus.
In the interview, Thompson was asked: "Some conservatives got flustered by your comments on abortion and Roe vs. Wade. Would you like to explain your position on abortion?"
Thompson answered: "Government should stay out of it. No public financing. The ultimate decision must be made by the woman. |

the “first family with young children” is only the result of his wife being young enough and looking like his daughter. his mother is law is 4 years younger then he is.
I personally could care less, but don’t kid yourself that the media and Leno/Letterman aren’t going to have a field day with that if he gets the nomination.
Interesting post. Was it meant as a response to 209 though?
Fred Thompson in 1994: LET THE WOMAN DECIDE
Rudy Giuliani in 2007: LET THE WOMAN DECIDE, AND YOU PAY FOR IT, EVEN IF YOU DON’T AGREE WITH HER.
Of course. She posts deceptive insinuations, several of us correct the record.
You too, pissant. This is fun regardless.
Look at my first post on this thread. It has the links that I always use to neuter this con artist in every thread he pops up in to create this smear.
He quotes American Spectator which has already been discredited with exposing the sources of the smear as Evangelicals for Romney.
Fred Thompson was never prochoice. Think about it, he ran in 1994 as part of the Republican Contract with America, he ran as a conservative in a very conservative state on the GOP ticket that had numerous anti-abortion measures in its platform.
He voted every abortion bill on the side of prolife.
And this con artist wants you to believe he adopted a liberal prochoice issue.

What skeletons? Got proof? Post a link.
I heard that Fred openly defied the country’s immigration laws by providing sanctuary to illegal invaders... Oh, wait. That wasn’t Fred. That was Rudy. Fred actually wants to seal the border before we do anything else about illegal immigration. My bad.
But I did read something about Fred saying that although guns are okay in less populated areas, they should be banned in metropolitan... Oh, wait. That wasn’t Fred. That was Rudy. Fred strongly favors citizens’ absolute rights to keep and bear arms. My bad again.
Hey, Fred thinks that government should pay for abortion on demand... Oh, Wait. That wasn’t Fred. That was Rudy. Dang! Fred voted against government-funded abortions. My bad yet again.
But didn’t Fred host his “8th Annual Gay Pride Celebration” at Gracie Mansion in Manhattan, New York? No, wait. That wasn’t Fred. That was Rudy. Fred opposes special rights for gays.
Now which one of these two guys is out of step with the conservative mainstream again?
It’s puire hypocricy for a Rudy supporter to criticize Fred for breaking faith with conservatives, seeing as how liberal Rudy never had any faith in conservative ideals.
:)
A very telling error (I think you meant you couldn't care less), since you obviously cared enough to post it.
Every major news outlet and poll of any repute has him leading in fund raising but losing in votes.
At some point you cash in your chips. And you will.
“Rudy is honest. He has said his views havent changed. What is Freds excuse?”
So I guess you are ok with paying for others peoples Abortions....
I did not follow the whole argument, I must admit.
Oh my.
Don’t forget when he ran in 1994 he was endorsed by a pro life group.
This is jsut more anti-fred fud coming from the people that fear him the most: Liberal republican fans.
LOL -— we can be smug. I love it!!!!
not at all.
I’m just making an observation about the kind of coverage Thompson is going to get. an observation and an opinion are two different things.

"What was most extraordinary was how clearly Romney articulated the nature of the common enemy Israel and the United States both face. It was, by far, the most remarkable speech on the topic given by an American politician of either party, on television or in person. One line in particular captures how thoroughly Romney understands our jihadist enemies: Contrary to the Baker-Hamilton Commission, resolving the Arab-Israeli conflict will not magically mollify the jihadists.
As long as he’s honest about it!
Does that same thing work for hillary? She’s been pro abortion all along. Maybe the rudybots can send some love her way.
You already said you don’t care, so why worry that others will?
