What a terrible mistake was made by miserable Europe.

Blaming all of Europe is a misleading. England fought against those who perpetrated the mass murder of Jews. France resisted the Nazi's. Russia was Nazi Germany's enemy. The only group of people who bare the blame are the Nazi's. They didn't commit the holocaust by mistake. it was their intention to murder all Jews.

I agree with the spirit of the proposed 28th Amendment but have reservations about it's format and some of its content. Most obvious is this amendment includes its own articles. None of the current Amendments have articles within them. Articles in the Constitution are separate from Amendments. Article II in the proposed Amendment is addressed in Article I Section 8 of the Constitution as the proposed Amendment is essentially a declaration of war.

Article IV contradicts the other articles in the proposed amendment. Article IV prevents discrimination of Islam yet The purpose of the proposed Amendment is to discriminate against Islam. Article IV prevents violence against Muslims but Article II declares Islam is an enemy and article III authorizes the destruction of Mosques. Both could easily be construed as violent. The contradictions make this a weak Amendment.

Mosques, as has been reported in many articles, have been used to foment violence against those who are not Muslim in a similar manner of the Branch Davidians in Waco Texas. The Federal government considered the Branch Davidians a violent cult and set a precedent against cults when it destroyed the Branch Davidian compound. Islam by the federal government's defintion based on their action against the Branch Davidians, is also a cult and should be dealt with in the same manner as the Branch Davidian's. Consequently the proposed Amendment is not necessary.

the second reference of Amendment in the last sentence of paragraph two should be Article (II).

What in the heck are you talking about!? I must have missed those Branch Davidian suicide bombers and snipers.

Neither are civil union regulations but they are facing the need for a constitutional amendment.

As far as discriminating against Islam - when it is no longer recognized as a religion - is not discrimination, is it?

I'm not going to try to refute or bolster your positions. Fun reading them.

Driving Islam underground is not a solution. What it needs is sunlight and exposure. The war is coming--let people see the enemy.

Agreed... with some reservations (which aren't too different than things going on today)...

France resisted the Nazi's.

France (and England) refused to live up to their obligations from the Treaty of Versailles, and allowed Germany to rearm and move their military into the Rhineland, annex the parts of Austria and the Sudetenland, and pretty much take over Czechoslovakia. In response, France and England signed a treaty to protect Poland from invasion. When NAZI Germany invaded Poland, they did nothing. Granted, that was what popular public opinion throughout Europe wanted. They remembered WWI, and the horrors it unleashed. So, the people of Europe wanted peace, no matter what the cost.

Russia was Nazi Germany's enemy.

Only after Germany attacked in 1941, although if you count Hitler's hatred for communists, and the NAZI Brownshirts' attacks on communists during Hitler's rise to power. Remember, that NAZI Germany and the USSR signed a non-aggression pact, agreeing to split up Poland after the NAZI invasion. Interestingly enough, American leftists opposed American intervention in the war until the USSR was attacked.

The only group of people who bare the blame are the Nazi's. They didn't commit the holocaust by mistake. it was their intention to murder all Jews.

Agreed. However, while for the most part, they were not directly responsible for the deaths, I also blame the people of Europe for allowing these things to come to pass. For the NAZIs to take power and expand their power throughout Europe. For wanting peace above all else. Effectively feeding the neighbors to the alligators, hoping that the alligator would be full before their turn. Or that they'd be the last eaten.

Of course, we're seeing exactly the same sort of thing today, throughout Europe, and the US, especially in the US Congress.

" foment violence against those who are not Muslim in a similar manner of the Branch Davidians in Waco Texas."

I do not believe that the Branch Davidians went out and attacked anyone. All attacks involving them happened on their property.

Yes Koresh was an idiot, but I did not hear of any suicide bombers attacking any targets. If you did can you please direct us all to the data that would support your statements?

France did have a resistance movement made up of everyday courageous citizens. But as a country France was entirely complicit with the Nazis.

France willingly rounded up its Jewish citizens and turned them over by the hundreds of thousands to the Nazis. They even did this in Algeria (a French colony) though the Nazis didn't ask them to do it there.

France (Vichy) also refused to turn over its fleet to the Allies and was prepared to give it to the Germans. We had to destroy that fleet when we really could have used it.

France has little to be proud of in the Second WW. Now, little Denmark - protected its Jewish citizens, even the King wearing a Star of David on his coat.

Norway was another complicit country - and of course - Italy, too. Hungary helped the Nazis round up its Jewish citizens. Ditto Greece - the ancient Jewish population in Salonika was entirely wiped out.

Europe as a whole has little to be proud of.

Let's remember that Europe's killing of six million Jews is only the tail end of a horrible history of anti-semitism going back for almost 2000 years - years of forced conversions, Inquisitions, repeated Expulsions (Spain, Portugal, England, France, Germany, Russia), Ghettoizations, and crippling economic and religious bigotry.

Whatever the Jews accomplished in Europe was despite the odds against them. Think of what they could have accomplished had the Europeans provided a truly happy environment.

And to this day - anti-semitism is on the rise in Europe. Jews in France , Norway, Sweden and Germany, live in fear.

Interesting points...

except - I believe the one you indicate regarding religion - the "establishment clause" so-called...

Does not prohibit discrimination against mohammadanism. The truth about the intent of the Founding Fathers is that they wrote that clause specifically to keep any particular sect, or denomination of Christianity from gaining preeminence or favour in the political arena, and consequently using its clout to create a more favourable environment for its own proselytizing, profit and growth, and/or a less favourable one for competing Christian churches. Bear in mind the oppressive environment that many settlers fled in N. Europe

At the time that was drafted, the religion of the colonies/budding states was presumptively Christian. By Population, 96% Christian of various sects or denoms, about 2 to 3% were Jewish, and the remainder were nonbelievers.

Among the first military campaigns mounted by the fledgling country were the battles against the Barbary pirates of Algiers and Morocco - treacherous mohammadan scum who waylaid American merchant ships, captured the seamen and sold many into slavery, held others until the us government paid a ransom equal to one fifth of the total federal budget at the time.

The USS Constitution, and the US Marines were created specifically to deal with those threats. "From the Halls of Montezuma, to the shores of Tripoli..." It was the Moslem Barbary pirates on those shores of Tripoli.

Jffferson and those others who wrote our Constitution were acutely aware of recent history in Europe - they were students of history, far more than any of our current pathetic crop are!

It had only been {I believe} 1783 when Mustafa had led the last horde of moslem invaders to arms against Northern Europe, and been rebuffed one last time. Some have called Jefferson a "Deist" rather than a Christian, and much has been made recently of the fact that he owned a copy of the qur'an.

I take it as an indication that Jefferson - who was one of the most intelligent and most educated men of his day, as well as one of the most intelligent Presidents in our history - was exercising intellectual curiosity, and comparing the claims of islam to those of Judaism and Christianity.

My contention is that if Jefferson had believed islam to be a credible or true religion, one which actually did worship and follow the same deity as Judaism or Christianity - he would have incorporated that knowledge into the Constitution in very specific terms, would have made certain it was protected on a par with the other two.

I believe whether mohammadanism is to be considered a religion or not - it was not on a par with Judaism or Christianity in the US, and should rightly never be! That includes affording them the protections under the law that the rest of us have.

It should be clear enough from history how islam has treated Jews and Christians - as second class citizens - even in their own countries once islam had strength of numbers, and/or military/political supremacy - that they likely have every intent of trying to replicate those results and reducing us to an extinct, or highly overtaxed dhimmi class - suffered to live so long as our moslem masters felt themselves sufficiently appeased.

That clarity ought to dictate our policy: moslems in our land are second class citizens - never more than that at best, until the day they forswear all their allegiance to jihad, allegiance to imams and mullahs, their demands for sharia law to govern anything at all.

We cannot allow them to use our own Constitution against us. It will be the death of the Constitution, and of ourselves if we fail.
