At 0753 at Pearl Harbor in Hawaii, the attack that had triggered America's entry into World War II, sixty-seven years before, was ceremoniously commemorated, an honor guard, taps, a 21-gun salute, the bugle's notes and the rifles' crack drifting across the bay to the USS Arizona memorial, where Admiral Arthur Peterson, USN Ret., laid a wreath in memory of the sailors sleeping below, one of whom was his own grandfather.
On the West coast it was 1053, and in Washington D.C. it was one fifty-three in the afternoon, 1353 military time.
In 2006 America, tired of War in Iraq, had elected Democrats to modest majorities in both houses of Congress. Representative Nancy Pelosi became Speaker of the House, third in line for the presidency. In the spring of 2007, on a narrow, party-line vote, Congress, led by Senators John Kerry and Ted Kennedy and Barbara Boxer refused to authorize spending to continue the war in Iraq, and set September 30, 2007, as the deadline for complete withdrawal of American troops.

Actually, he isn't. There a none so blind as those who refuse to see.
Ask Jeff Head
Why? Far fetched scenario maybe but plausible. Certainly not worth a personal attack.
Wow. Powerful stuff.
I agree.........this scenario, while a bit over the top, is exactly the thing our gov't could let happen. I am actually worried about the end of Ramadan, this Friday! Top taliban have already telegraphed that something big will happen, and have warned muslims to leave the US. The American Al qaeda from California has also said we must convert to islam or be destroyed. I am keeping my fingers crossed that they are just idle threats, but to minimize the threat that radical islam presents is a fool's game. Nuclear weapons proliferation is ushering in a new era, and I for one, am not confident that our country can protect us from this threat.
Domesday scenario indeed.
Very true words...and when one contemplates the Red Chinese and their complicity (IMHO) in the current geo-political situation with every current and potential belligerent we face, the news only becomes bleaker.
We need a Ronald Reagan and the will of the American people to call the evil empires what they are and stand up to them now, both econimcally (even if it hurts) and militarily.
Otherwise, some drastic scenario will befall us at a time and a place of our enemy's choosing. Either one like this (which BTW could never happen without Red China's knowledge and consent IMHO), or a more conventional one like the one I have posited.
You got to understand...
Personal attack is the only weapon that the clueless have...
I'm sorry, here I thought this was Democratic Underground. Shoulda posted it there. They love this kinda thing.
not
Pssst, it's fiction.
I've got good news for you.
Ramadan was over Monday. So worry about something else.
eid-al-fitr is oct. 24th and that is today
The article mentioned several different terror groups, and several names (including Osama bin Laden). The arena had been gassed by someone who had access to the HVAC system in the arena, and, of course, it was done on national television.
And, as did millions of others, I dismissed the article as the fanatical tinfoil rantings of a lunatic. Little did I know what was in store for the nation a few scant years later.
Attack not the canary. Just pay attention and be prepared. The dates do not matter. The details do not matter. What matters is that the bad guys are still out there, and though we don't hear all the details, the battles continue to be waged.
Iraq is window-dressing. Don't neglect to see the forest for the trees.
Just damn.
If you want on the list, FReepmail me. This IS a high-volume PING list...
The author apparently does not understand that small nukes are much harder to make than large nukes.
BTTT
What you do not understand is this scenerio does not depend on large nukes with lots of destructive power.
The story is not talking about a single nuke that could destroy the city of Washington. He is talking about a small nuke that would destroy the White House. It takes two more nukes to get the capital building and the pentagon.
Making big nukes small is hard. Making little nukes little is not nearly so hard.
