Were nukes smuggled through the recently discovered Mexico-US tunnel?
Wayne Madsen Report ^ | 2/2/06 | Wayne Madsen

February 1, 2006 -- U.S.-Mexican tunnel worries senior U.S. intelligence officials. The recent tunnel discovered between Tijuana and Otay Mesa, California has some U.S. intelligence officials extremely concerned, according to informed U.S. intelligence sources.

Senior U.S. intelligence officers are concerned that the sophisticated 1.4 mile tunnel, complete with ventilation, electrical, and water systems, as well as cement flooring, that connects two warehouses on each side of the border, could have been used to secretly transport nuclear devices or material into the United States. Argentine intelligence sources have previously reported that Al Qaeda smuggled nuclear devices into the United States using a drug route into the United States "rented" from the Juarez, Mexico-based drug cartel. The information was gleaned from agents that penetrated terrorist cells operating in the Puerto Igauzu, Argentina; Foz do Iguazu Brazil; and Ciudad del Este, Paraguay "Tri-Border" region, which is home to a number of Muslims. The DEA reported that the Mexico-U.S. tunnel may have been the work of one of Mexico's drug cartels. Previously, DEA has uncovered links between Al Qaeda and Latin American drug cartels, especially in Colombia and Venezuela. One of the Mexican Tijuana tunnel diggers has informed authorities that a similar tunnel exists between Mexico and Presidio, Texas.

Intelligence insiders believe that the arrest in Los Angeles three weeks ago of a key member of the Russian mafia, an individual who was identified as a mover of money to the hijackers prior to 9-11, may have had something to do with the discovery of the tunnel. It is believed the Russian may have tipped off law enforcement about the tunnel as part of a deal. Argentine intelligence sources also reported that Al Qaeda rented from the Russian mafia a cargo ship smuggling route into the New York-New Jersey region. Argentine intelligence discovered that Al Qaeda had obtained at least one tactical nuclear device from Uzbekistan and enough radioactive material to manufacture "dirty" radiological bombs.

Senior intelligence sources are concerned that the Department of Homeland Security and the Energy Department's Nuclear Emergency Search Teams (NESTs) have failed to conduct tests for radioactivity in the Mexico-California tunnel. Their fears have been heightened with the Super Bowl in Detroit on Sunday.

Wonder what could be done to take the profit out of drugs?

It's simple.

Create Government centers where the lethal dosage of the dopers choice is provided.
The full amount must be used at the center by the requester.

"Notice these "informed" "senior" "insiders" never have names or position titles."

I noticed that too...just thought I'd pass it on for others to have fun ripping apart.

Like they couldn't carry a suitcase nuke through that huge hole in the fence that Sean Hannity showed us.

I don't know...in fact I was just going to ask the same question. That's why I posted this in the "vanity" section. Because as far as I'm concerned, it's just one person's opinion right now...everything is unsubstantiated.

I read that he formerly worked for the NSA. That's all I know. Anyone else?

If this is fabricated the guy has some imagination.

Thanks for giving this its own thread.

Radioactivity is the FIRST thing they should have checked for.

"And, as everyone knows, Radiation can only affect you if you touch it!" Tom Servo; MST3K episode "Gamera".

Sorry, but you touched a raw nerve with me.

Unless they went running down that tunnel with radioacive elements loose in a bucket, and were smearing it on the walls, they will find no trace of radioactivity!

If a Nuke bomb suitcase-type came thru, it would be well shielded, and not exposed at all! If nuke materials for a "Dirty Bomb" came in...unless they did the unclean "Bucket" method I described above, again...no residue.

The ONLY way there might be SOME detectable evidence is if something of high-enough Gamma activity came thru with insuficcient shielding (which would mean the Islamazis/Mexicans/fill-in-the-blanks responsible will either be dead/dying or suffering from radiation exposure, and therefore traceable!), and remained in the tunnel for a length of time. Then there MIGHT be some disturbance to the soil/wood/concrete that lined the walls that MIGHT be detectable ...but those tests are long, involved, and complicated; and if the soil contained ANY inate trace radioactive compounds, the test would be rendered useless.

That is the reality.

Isn't about time for this expert to leave DC again and screaming "Bush wants to assassinate me!"

Complete ignorance of the reality of weapons handling, sizes, complexity, etc.

Then enlighten us. Bear in mind that the US did create artillery fired tactical nukes, and the largest land artillery for the US is maybe 10" in diameter.

However, even the rocket based atomic warheads aren't very big. This page shows three warheads on a minuteman missle, but without a size reference. ttp://www.gwu.edu/~nsarchiv/nsa/NC/mirv/mirv.html This page shows men installing a warhead on an minuteman missile: http://www.geocities.com/minuteman_missile/photo_gallery1.htm The warhead appears to be about 4 feet across, which makes the mirv smaller warheads at most two foot across.

It'd be easy to get one of the mirv'd warheads through that tunnel.

As for complexity, if they stole or bought a loose Russian nuke, they need to know as much about the complexity of the bomb as a car thief needs to know about the complexity of a Maserati: only enough to set it off.

What if they smuggled in a breeding pair of chupacabra?

maybe his angle is to blame Bush (which appears to be his favorite sport) if a nuclear device is smuggled in due to Bush's inaction on securing the border

Hopefully NSA and the SEC are monitoring any short selling by this "intelligence expert":

From the Market Watch Headlines News this morning:

"Stock losses accelerated midmorning on speculation the U.S. may be planning to raise its terror alert level, a rumor denied by the Department of Homeland Security."

My apolgies if I came across as snarky, or insufferable. I can be both, and freely admit it.

I've worked Radioactive Pharmaceutical Chemistry for years, and the way America has been scared and blatantly miseducated (read LIED TO!) about radiation and radioactivity really frosts me. It's all part and parcel of the effort by EnviroMENTALists to prevent Nuclear Energy and Medicine development here.

My rant was only meant to educate here, my anger is at the dribble-cup reporters and "experts" that blather on as if they had a clue!

Please accept my apologies if I came across to you as offensive in any way...but realize my anger and disdain was genuine and honest, just not directed at you.

I'm way too old to be easily offended anymore. LOL

Since you are familiar with it, perhaps you could explain to me why we have NEST teams active.

Would be cheaper. Heck we could put water in it like an old style mote. Fill it with parannah or something.

Or "sharks with fricken' laser-beams" strapped to their heads!!

That's ridiculous. Why is it so difficult for the administration to take a firm stance in favor of tightening border security?

Yeah. Well. I worked at the NSA, too. That and $3 will get me a cup of coffee at Starbucks. I don't know a darned thing about nukes crossing any borders. Lots of people worked at the NSA at one time or another.

Sure.

NEST teams are alerted when Neutron detectors or other radiation detectors are set off. If it's some other detector, the energy level ahs to be above a certain level for a NEST team to be necessary, rather than another HAZMAT type response team.

What we commonly might see in hospitals for Nuc Med would not set off a Neutron detector. Only Plutonium and other elements that meet a certain energy levels (which I will NOT specify..."Loose Lips" y'know) will be seen by a Neutron detector due to it's method of screening out Protons vs Neutrons, as well as energy levels.

Anybody remember shorty after 9/11 there was a NEST team sent to a ship off the coast of New Jersey? The story afterward was that it had "Glazed Tiles" from Mexico on board, which have Uranium Oxide in the glaze.

I call .

While the tiles ARE radioactive, and a Ludlum will hit on them...there is NO WAY a Neutron Detector got a hit on them! 100% false. Maybe the tiles were there to confuse the issue, but there would have had to be Plutonium or "Other elements" there for the NEST team to be dispatched! And there was NO NEWS for days afterward.

Just look here for more info on the new Portable Neutron Detectors if you don't believe me.

NEST is VERY specific as to their threat response, and when they are called in.

I'm intentionally being a bit vague, but what I have said is valid, and available info from published sources, so I'm not giving out info.

Does this help?
