WASHINGTON – Ambassador Joseph Wilson's attorney is demanding Maj. Gen. Paul Vallely retract a statement he made to WND that the man at the center of the CIA leak case "outed" his own wife as a CIA employee in conversations more than a year before her identity was revealed in a syndicated column.

Is that your original observation? If so, may I use that for a possible parody? Please advise.

I hadn't heard it anywhere else.

It came to mind when MilleniumBug wrote, "Keep that mouth moving Joe. Loose lips sink ships (maybe the good ship "Patrick Figerald")."

As far as I am concerned, you are free to use the idea. I give you my share of it.

Free Republic is a great place for brain storming!!

I think the General has intentions of "outing" Joe Wilson.  I'll bet Wilson doesn't sue because he doesn't want to take the stand and Vallely knows this.  A General against a diplomat in court, lol.

I've been wondering why he's still using the title ...

It is custom and tradition to refer to a person by their highest held rank:

Judge Napolitano
General Vallely
Ambassador Wilson
Secret Agent Plame

Usually I say the politics of a lawyer make no difference
This may be an exception to the rule. Besides being ADL, Internet law is his forte.

Who made those contributions? Wilson's lawyer? There are so many lawyers floating around, it's hard to keep track of them.

Yes, I wish this was from a better source. I won't quote WND articles to the Lefties in a neutral forum I'm on, even though in this case, I think there's something behind the article.

the charges against Libby don't have anything to do with Wilson

I beg to differ, and I hope Libby's defense attorney differs as well.

If Joe was blabbing about his wife all over DC and dozens of media types knew about Plame's ID before they talked to Libby then two good things happen for Libby's defense:

--While he may not have recalled correctly where he first heard of Plame's ID it would be possible that it was from some media contact and they got confused in his mind. Therefore there was no intent to lie, therefore no perjury.

--If Libby was merely confirming what reporters already knew if an offhand way (which appears to be in the case in at least some of the conversations) it was a minor part of the conversation and therefore easy to forget and confuse.

The underlying facts give context.

Perjury is not just "did you speak the truth" but "did you lie intentionally for some nefarious purpose". In this case the nefarious purpose would be to prevent the Special Prosecutor from finding out who leaked Plame's identity. If the leaker was Joe then it is illogical that Libby would be trying to hide Joe's identity. Therefore there is no perjury.

I also have a problem with a Special Prosecutor indicting someone for perjury when there is no underlying crime and no harm to the government. Even if the judge didn't buy into that argument and even if the judge instructed the jury to ignore such an argument, I know it would influence my vote on a jury and probably those of other jurers as well.

"Joe couldn't have been at Fox outting Valerie because Joe & valerie were in the phone booth at Brewster-jennings then forging Nigerien Uranium documents. It came out in the intelligence hearings that Joe claimed to have read the forgeries before the U.S. even received them. Fitz had planned to wind up his investigation a year ago but the Wilson fabrications forced Fitz to re-interview a number of witnesses. Keep that mouth moving Joe. Loose lips sink ships (maybe the good ship "Patrick Figerald")."

Talk about those "forgeries" does seem to reappear now and then.

Wonder WHO has the original forgeries??? Did the "forgeries" first appear in Niger, or France??? Was Joe Wilson's flight a direct flight to Niger or did he layover in France???

Could it be that somebody, Joe's handlers are after the British intel, cause maybe the British has the "goods" on somebody and somebody knows it?

If I understood correctly the supposed LIE by Libby was that he learned about Val gal from the Vice-President and some other government officials.

Now if Libby did lie, that part makes NO sense.

When I heard that the prosecuter was asking neighbors if they knew about Plame, I suspected that the neighbors were too intimidated or deliberately lying about the fact that they knew she worked at the CIA.
