I am going to take it. Not kidding.
Only problem will be the firearm part.
I have worked through this before on FR...I want to own a gun, but I am afraid of them. Perhaps I don't trust myself.
Go to a range and take one on one lessons.
You'll be hooked in NO time! Don't worry, if you handle it right, you won't get hurt. You'll have more fun than you realize!
If you are caught in an inner city, or even on the road, or are even confined at your home in such a situation...and are prepared for everything except this...then you are at the mercy of who you happen to meet unless you can defend the preparations you have made.
I pray that is never the case...but this disaster and tragedy shows that there are those who will take everything you have and rape and/or kill you for the exchange.
Just my thoughts.
A firearm is no more dangerous than an automobile. Cars kill thousands more than guns every year.
You can do it.
Simple, go to a class. Many ranges have classes for novices and novice ladies even. Taught by other ladies who know how ya feel or fear.
Simple rules, ..... Never ever point at anyone or thing you don't intend to kill or destroy. Never put yer finger on the trigger unless your ready to fire. And all guns are always considered loaded regardless of others suggestion otherwise until you check and the cylinder is open on the revolver or the magazine is removed from the automatic with the slide locked to the rear.
See yer first very basic lesson was easy and at the class you'll really have fun punching holes in paper and meet some really nice folks along the way !
Give it a try and let me know how ya did ......please !
Enroll in an NRA Approved course to get over the nervousness. At least you would then understand what the tools are all about rather than deal with TV news reports about gun violins. I listen to the radio myself.
Get a gun and...
take a gun safety course before loading it or doing anything with it.
Then, find someone who knows guns WELL and have them teach you how to shoot.
Find a firing range and go practice regularly.
If you have kids in your home, keep your gun WELL out of reach, preferably in a locked cabinet.
Get a BB Pistol. It looks like the real thing. My son has one.
So am I, even though I own 9 of them. I converted what fear I had of my own firearms into a healthy respect. quite some years ago.
With firearms, familiarity breeds respect, not contempt. (Sometimes it breeds carelessness too, but that can be guarded against by personal discipline).
What's to be afraid of? It's not like the gun will jump out of the holster and shoot you. It's a gun, not an SUV. ;)
I want to own a gun, but I am afraid of them. Perhaps I don't trust myself.
Always wear a condom and you've noting to worry about.
If you slip up, well, what's another little gun to feed,
and they're so CUTE when they're small.
With professional training your fear will disappear, and compare that with your potential fear of a mob that regards you as meat and you left to protect yourself and family with what?
I want a gun, but I'm afraid to have them in the house with my kids.
