Uh, they are. Everyone knows that and they don't need you belaboring the OBVIOUS. But we have a 2 PARTY SYSTEM in this country.

We don't have a "pure conservative" party in this country, as they do in Britain.

In PRACTICAL terms (i.e. if you want to BE IN POWER)you either go with the GOP or you're TOAST. Now if you would rather be out-of-power and let the Democrats run things, then great. I suppose your "pure conservatism" will really console you when the Democrats raise your taxes back to the 50% bracket.

Meanwhile, the GOP is shifting left. We all had hope that the post Clinton era would see a revival of conservatism, but no. Bush has been brilliant in some ways, but terribly weak in others. The socialists must be defeated and driven from ever having a foothold again, yet we see him giving them opportunities to hang on at every turn.

So stuff the speech about the two party system. One of those parties could be history forever if it was handled properly. And you're right, conservatives don't have anywhere to go. The Democrat's life support machine is keeping us trapped, and the GOP pollsters know it. As long as "big bad Hillary", or whoever, is out there, we're stuck voting Republican to keep them out of power. If they succeeded in killing the commie beast, they would have competition from the right.

I said many of these same things about Savage about a week ago. He had Buchanan on, and he DID suggest that Bush was to blame, for the NO mess.

On top of that, Savage is hard to listen to,on a normal day.

If he is not "rehashing the old stories of his youth, working for his father",or in the drugstore;

If he is not talking about meatballs, or fish,or wine;

If he is not talking about "what Teddy"(his dog) did today;

If he is not running down O Riley, Rush or Hannity;

If he is not saying how the war is lost, and Bush is in over his head, and basically slamming President Bush, blaming him for everything from gas prices to the latest computer virus;

THEN-- he is out there, telling everyone how miserable he is, and how no one should expect to be happy, or succeed, and how life is just a living hell, for nearly everyone.

There now. I think I have pretty well covered the Savage program. And after last week, I have had ENOUGH OF IT!!!!!!!

i disagree. I think Savage is not a liberal, but yet a Wacked Conservative who often bashes his own quite often for not being conservative enough.

Savage is sort of like Paul Revere mixes up with your old uncle who rips on anything and everything that moves. He's out there on the edge, sort of like the point man in front of the platoon. I do like his tangents on his experiences when he was growing up, the 1950's, the bumper music from then and even his dog Teddy. I love my 8 cats so they are a huge part of my life so I can understand him loving his dog. I like how he points out what is truly wrong, he doesn't let party loyalty get in the way. He is also a good outlet for many of us who have much the same take on things, when he rants, we rant with him, it is a good tension breaker. Unfortunatly, the Pitt game is on tonite (my 90 year old grandmother and my 18 year old calico cat could beat the Pitt Panther football team) so they pre-empt Savage. B-(

Talkshow host that I do miss, Art Bell, I get into the paranormal and the "black ops" stuff and Art just knew what questions to ask. Also, like me, Art is an amateur radio operator and I love it when he had Wayne Green on although Wayne jumps the shark when he talks about health and the story of how we "didn't land on the Moon."

I do miss Chuck Harder though, he was a lot like Savage with his "For the People" show but he was more like a kindly uncle.

I guess the reason why Savage does appeal to me is that I generally see myself as an "independent or populist conservatve," sort of like being a "Dr. James Dobson" on most issues" but I tend to be closer to Hubert Humphrey on economic issues. Savage did make a good point one time to where we do need the Democratic party as a good offset, one time both parties do have the best interests of the country at the forefrint even though we did have disagreements. I think the problem is that where Savage comes in that in key areas, both parties fall down on the job. The Democrats with their moonbat liberal social policies as well as economic policies with no strings attached along with weak military and national security issues. The Republicans are marginally better, they are generally good on military and secourity issues, iffy on social issues bet better than the Democrats, and I think somewhat poor on economic issues for the average guy. Both parties are bad on the border issue, but the Democrats can capitalize if the Republicans don't close the hole fast.

So I do think many times, both paties are leaving the average person behind.

Michael Savage is the best. He is a conservative who is true to conservative ideals.

I'll drink to that. I also like his idea of where able bodied people on welfare would do the work needed to get it. I'm not against a safety net at all, but I think one should put some "sweat equity" in return for the assistance if one is able to. Glenn Beck had a similar idea for the rebuilding of New Orleans for the people who were displaced and need help.

WRT to 87, what pisses you and others off is that Savage is increasing his ratings share while others are decreasing, according to all of the media that reports and follows radio talk shows.

Savage isn't doing well because he found a scam to pull over the ears of listeners but it is because listeners see and hear a voice who reflects their thoughts and beliefs. Savage is better than all but two radio talk show hosts presently, Hannity and Rush, and before the end of the GWB era he will only be behind one of them, according to his assessment. I think that is about right.

As the GOP continues to fail the conservative American spirit and the needs of our American nationalistic revival, Savage is the voice of clarity who exposes those who aren't on the side of a free republic.
