In the middest of the chaos and despair, that is in the City of New Orleans, there have been people waiting for at least three days for food and water. The media has been squawking the loudest about the slowness of the food convoys. When a truckload of MREs (Meals Ready to Eat) finally arrived in to help feed the masses, that have not had any food or water; you would think that these people would be grateful.
That seems to be not the case in the eyes of some people. Yes, that is right, there are some people that have refused to have anything to do with the MREs. A case in point, a woman that was hollering the loudest about not having anything to eat, was handed an MRE and refused it. The reason? It had not been heated.
Well sister, I hope that you can live for a few more days. It is going to quite awhile before there is any way to serve up any hot meals. The only way that there might be any hot food, is if you build a campfire and cook food that way. I doubt that you would be able to find any food to cook over a campfire anyway, as the government wont there to hand out the food to cook or to make the fire for you.
If our troops in the field in Iraq and Afghanistan can gain weight by eating MREs, surely you can subsist on these for a few days. The same troops that are subsisting on these MREs and have been for the last 2.5 years, seem to take it all in stride as a part of doing business.
Last night on O'Reilly, some woman who had been re-located from the Superdome to the Astrodome was complaining that at the SD, they only had "Army food" available (I presume that means MREs), and that "Y'all cain't eat that stuff" ...
"Touting this kind of story can only SUCK the wind out of people who need our encouragement: the rescuers and those raising money and volunteers to bring aid."
You are 100% correct. I had a little chip on my shoulder because of this one woman's attitude and I shouldn't allow this one ingrate to affect the relief effort for all the people.
Well the mother has to be hydrated, or she will have insufficient milk.
Thank God some of you folks weren't around before ovens and air conditioning. Sheesh!
The kid in the MRE crate is too cute for words ... and the other two don't seem to mind the taste. The kids are smarter than some of the adults.
At the Superdome, the Haynes family eats military rations and even uses the box as a bed for four-month-old Alison. Lexus, age 4, left, and Ariel, 5, right, have been staying at the Superdome and will probably be there a few more days.
I saw a gal at the Astrodome complain that the MRE she ate was cold and tasted awful. What a piece of welfare trash! It's pretty clear to me that our nation's welfare program is overfunded. The able-bodied urban poor are clearly accustomed to a standard of living far surpassing anything they deserve. An incentive to get off welfare needs to be built into the system. Reducing the standard of living associated with welfare is crucial.
The little one looks comfy in the box *lol*
Your right I have also seen a woman on the news that was so grateful to a man for picking up a few momentos from her home. She was crying and blessing him for his kindness. I just know there are more people like her out there who appreciate what people give.
I saw another woman this morning who was upset that the water wasn't iced.
Where did you hear this? Do you have a source?
I believe it! I saw a woman on Oreily say that all they had was terrible food, cheese and crackers!!
I wish She was forced to sit outside a wiped out McDonald's for 2 weeks and then asked if She wanted those cheese and crackers again??????
Yep...everybody seems to have heard about this woman except for ME. I don't watch T.V. and don't have cable....so I miss things like this. :-)
"Any source? Or are we to not only believe ~you~ on this story, but also make this attitude representative of all those people? "
Rodger Hedgcock in for Rush mentioned it today too.
What a beautiful baby!
All three of the children look beautiful and well cared for.
but most of the dinner entrees are indeed unfit to eat without being heated
It's not "unfit"
Ive eaten them cold, is sucks but it is food!
what the hell do You want? a catered affair? with Iced perier, and an a wet lemon scented hand towel?
The kid in the crate reminds me of young'uns in my family sitting inside my guitar case.
I like MRE's, especially the weenies and beans.
In the words of the Fabulous Thunderbirds, "Wrap her up, I'll take it!"
;O)
Oh, btw, the one MRE I ever had was a damn site better than the one time I've ever been to White Castle.
