It was reported yesterday that Jeff Gannon had bragged to the Free Republic.com website that he fed information to Sean Hannity about Mary Mapes which would discredit Dan Rather's sources on the Texas National Guard Story.
Hannity started his all out assault on Rather and CBS on the same date.
'Mary Mapes is definitely behind the story,' Gannon wrote on Free Republic Sept. 10, 2004. 'This is who I told Sean Hannity got the documents. She also obtained the Abu Gharib photos.'
'I got the scoop and passed it on to Hannity,' Gannon added. Look for my detailed story Monday at Talon News. There is much more to this story. Mary Mapes is just the beginning.'
The story-that CBS producer Mary Mapes was the source of-- shredded the credibility of CBS Evening News anchor Dan Rather.
A producer from a rival network said she recieved a call from Gannon informing her that Mapes had obtained the documents. That network then broke the tie between Mapes and the questionable '60 Minutes' report.
'I am more concerned with each passing day that the relationship between Gannon and the White House was anything but typical,' the producer added.
Hannity orchestrated his all out attack on Dan Rather and during his recent interview with Karl Rove sought acknowledgement from him on the memogate story but Rove quickly dodged the subject.
How many other Hannity campaigns were triggered by Gannon tips? Could it be just the tip of the iceberg..

MY GOD! What a stunning scoop--that Dan Rather's producer was behind a story reported by Dan Rather!
The kitty hairball that keeps on giving.
Next CBS will tie FR and Jeff Gannon to the JFK shooting and have us all on the grass knoll..
This story is reaching the end of its shelf life without any new material for the next news cycle..
How many other Hannity campaigns were triggered by Gannon tips? Could it be just the tip of the iceberg..
I think they are bashing Hannity.....
That would be a yes. Picking on the wrong guy, me thinks.
I once worked in an office where the two gay guys got all hot and bothered over the third one to get hired, and it was hissy fit after hissy fit for months until finally the new guy got fired.
I didn't know this nonsense went on with Lesbians in the equation.
Well, live and learn!
Maybe they are hoping Hannity will fly off in a rage about the story and get some press attention for their little site..
Dan Rather reporting. Who was the mysterious woman in the limo the day JFK was shot? Stunning new "Zappruder" film asks the question--Just where WAS Jaqueline Kennedy when her husband was assassinated?
The whole deal with Gannon is an attempt to "even the score" over the Rathergate episode. What's most ridiculous is the allegations against Gannon. Forget about "softball questions," as far as I could ever tell, Helen Thomas asked Klintoon questions for eight years that might as well have been written by the Bent One himself.
No what they are trying to do is link Rove to the memogate story. If there is even a wiff that he knew about the docs (he didn't) the MSM will be all over it.
I think the note mentioned that while the demorats thought this story didn't have legs some republicans thought otherwise.
This little creep (Gannon/Guckert/whatever) is the gift that keeps on giving. If he gets it into his head to start making stuff up to get back at percieved or imagined enemies then look out.
Guess.
I have literally not seen ONE mention of the Eason Jordan story.
The crowd over at newshounds have a lot in common with the DUmmies, probably drink from the same bowl.
Lucy Ramirez?!
I wouldn't have a clue. Unless it was Talon.
They really have it out for Scott McCellan..
The thing I find most amusing is how the left are falling all over to expose this guy's gayness (literally). They don't seem to understand that from now on, if they bitch about ANY dirt being brought out about ANY reporter, the response will be "Hey, you set precedent with that Gannon story."
I never read a word of this guy's stuff before this scandal, and their going nuts over this low-level dude in revenge. I have a feeling most Americans are thinking "WHO is this guy again?" They weren't thinking that about Dan Rather.
