A person is Pro-Life only to the degree to which they are willing to actually do something about it. Ive been Pro-Life my entire life but until 7 or so years ago I did not do a thing about it. I still am not doing everything possible that I can do, but I am trying and getting better with time.
President Bush, whom I spent much time, effort, and resources for on both his bids for the White House is Pro-Life with such exceptions and compromises as to make the claim an insult to the 6 million babies that have been dismembered since he took office. Yes I believe President Bush is personally against abortion, but the actions he has taken thus far have saved very few, if any lives.
The president can, under his Constitutional authority refuse to enforce an unconstitutional opinion from the U.S. Supreme Court and all inferior federal courts. [1] Pro-Life Bush on any given day over the last 4 years could have broken the tyrannical holocaust of the Roe v Wade OPINION, which would then let the States' decide, as was the situation prior to Roe. 30 states have laws on the books banning or restricting abortion, and President Bush could have signed a piece of paper allowing those laws to be enforced. Since his party is in control of both houses of Congress there is virtually no chance that he would have been impeached let alone removed for such a brave and just act as this. If Bush were a true committed Pro-Lifer he would have used this authority, which has been used at least 3 times in history on FAR LESS SERIOUS MATTERS AS 4,000 murders a day every day for 32 years.
Bush signed The Partial Birth Abortion Ban Act of 2004. Im sure he knew that other than the tremendous educational and public awareness impact (which is very good) the law was meaningless because all the serial killer abortionist had to do to stay within the law was give a lethal injection to the child prior to partial delivery and sucking his brains out.
President Bush has also had the opportunity for no less than two years to champion legislation that would have ended the holocaust precipitated by Roe [2]. His silence on this life saving legislation is at the same deafening level as everyone else, as only 2 or 3 Congressmen joined to co sponsor the different legislation, so Im not singling Dubya out.
The only way the holocaust will end is with real and courageous leadership from Capitol Hill and the White House, from Pro-Lifers who are willing to do real battle for the babies, and for the Constitution.
President Bush is a hero on the war on terror, and I believe still can be a FAR GREATER hero, if he would do all that he can do to stop the murderous terror of American waiting to be born.
FOOTNOTES:
[1]Executive dissent with unconstitutional majority opinion
The President takes an oath of office Article 6, Clause 3 "to support this Constitution" and not the penumbras emanating from deviant dicta and unconstitutional opinion. The President can present his case of dissent to the public in a public address, executive orders, through members of his cabinet and through members of his party. He can act on his opinion, by not enforcing Roe v Wade and progeny against the States. States could legislate as they did prior to the 1973 unconstitutional opinion.
The following quote from Andrew Jackson is a concise statement of Constitutional principal that has been ignored, or forgotten for many decades. The prevailing myth seems to be that the Constitution is what the federal judiciary says it is, regardless of the extent of deviation from text or intent, and that all others who are bound by an oath of Office in Article 6, Clause 3 are forbidden to act on their understanding of the text they are sworn to uphold.
Article 6, Clause 3 contains no Oath or Affirmation to support any federal judicial opinion. The plain text of the Constitution reveals separation of powers, checks & balances and coordinate functioning of three branches that are not coequal in power. Power of impeachment, funding, regulation of lower federal court jurisdiction and the U.S. Supreme appelate jurisdiction resides in Congress. The President has the power of enforcement and isn't Constitutionally, legally, or ethically required to blindly enforce blatantly unconstitutional opinions. The Supreme Court has only the power of opinion, which has become far more biased in its increasing disregard of plain text than the mainstream media has been in its disregard of plain fact.
The Avalon Project : President Jackson's Veto Message Regarding ...
If the opinion of the Supreme Court covered the whole ground of this act, it ought not to control the coordinate authorities of this Government. The Congress, the Executive, and the Court must each for itself be guided by its own opinion of the Constitution. Each public officer who takes an oath to support the Constitution swears that he will support it as he understands it, and not as it is understood by others. It is as much the duty of the House of Representatives, of the Senate, and of the President to decide upon the constitutionality of any bill or resolution which may be presented to them for passage or approval as it is of the supreme judges when it may be brought before them for judicial decision. The opinion of the judges has no more authority over Congress than the opinion of Congress has over the judges, and on that point the President is independent of both. The authority of the Supreme Court must not, therefore, be permitted to control the Congress or the Executive when acting in their legislative capacities, but to have only such influence as the force of their reasoning may deserve.
[2] We the People Act (HR 3893)- Prohibits the Supreme Court and each Federal court from adjudicating any claim or relying on judicial decisions involving: (1) State or local laws, regulations, or policies concerning the free exercise or establishment of religion; (2) the right of privacy, including issues of sexual practices, orientation, or reproduction; or (3) the right to marry without regard to sex or sexual orientation where based upon equal protection of the laws.
Pro-Life and Pro-Family groups and individuals must learn about this incredible piece of life saving legislation and call write fax e-mail their Representatives to demand that they co-sponsor and champion this legislation.
Excellent points.
There is no magic wand. The President is not a dictator who can singlehandedly overturn Roe v. Wade with a snap of his fingers.
He has done much to turn back this tide of evil in subtle ways that are not resulting in histrionics from the left.
Planned Parenthood knows that President Bush is pro-life because to them, he is public enemy #1. Pro-Life organizations throughout the country also know that electing President Bush was critical to the continued movement of America to a culture of life, which is why they backed his election so strongly.
Extremism on this issue will result in loss. If nothing is accomplished by extreme rhetoric and impossible goals, then is it not preferable to continue to move in the direction President Bush has taken us.
Embryos are now called human, pre-born babies are given human rights, the horror of PBA is now illegal.
Progress is preferable to backlash.......unless, of course, the goal is to make noise, and not really save lives.
What IS the goal here?
It took what about 30 years to convience our Congress that Baby's born halfway should not be cut up and then in 30 seconds a Judge overturned it.
WE need an amendment now!
No. It didn't.
It took 30 years to have a Congress AND A PRO-LIFE PRESIDENT to get it signed.
Your characterization of President Bush as a poll-watching do-nothing moderate is inaccurate, as is your citing of this time frame.
Please try to be accurate with your facts, and your arguments will ring truer.
I agree that this is a national crisis, but I also believe that the American public's minds about abortion are being changed with increased information about what is happening, and the realization that these are human babies being slaughtered, and not 'tissue,' and a President who is moving us steadily back to being a culture of life in a number of areas.
The tide is turning, lives are being saved, and angry rhetoric, IMO, will do more harm than good.
The Civil Rights movement had put pressure on both Republican and Democrat administrations.
It seems everything Bush is doing will be overturned if a Democrat or RINO gets elected in 2008. Everytime we get a Pro-life President all his work is undone by the next Pro-Abort President such as after 12 years of Reagan-Bush came Clinton and everything they did was undone.
This cycle cannot keep going for it is leading the PRo-Life movement nowhere.
The last four years has seen the first REAL progress to end abortion in the last 30 (regardless of the party of the President).
Four things are apparent to me.
1. Work with this President towards permanent changes to make most abortions illegal.
2. Elect another pro-LIFE President in 2008, then another and another, and another.
3. Keep working to educate the American public about what abortion really is, and how few are done for the sake of the health/life of the mother and awaken the sleeping consciences of most Americans.
4. Keep PRAYING!

Against the Unborn! |
Go back and read that list I posted of all the "sins" Planned Parenthood holds against the President. Then ask yourself, if you did all that stuff and somebody told you that you were a pro-choicer, would you think they had their head screwed on right? I think not.
Exactly right.
I nominate this thread as a 9.0 on the dumb, unappeasable scale.
"Those of us who supported George W. Bush and elected him to office may be responsible for the bloodshed that he perpetuated, "
He's been Zotted.
Jim
they recklessly convict the president of murder, and child abuse of the most heinous and wicked kind... without a trial.
such viscious and deceitful slander should not be tolerated.
With all due respect, have you lost your bloody mind?
Thank you.
The President hasn't even been inaugurated to his second term, and it seems to be 'burn him at the stake' time already for some folks.
I STRONGLY disagree with the president on more than a few issues. But the 'baby killer' style of rhetoric, is way over the top.
To be honest with you, I have TROUBLE with the thread title and the vanity nature of the self-plugging blogger who posted it.
I want babies to live, I am just not willing to throw the most 'prolife' president in our lifetime to the 'clinic bomber' types...
This kind of rhetoric is NOT helpful and in fact dangerous to the cause.
God bless.
It is my opinion that Satan uses people like this, masquerading as pro-lifers, to defeat the real goal of saving the lives of the unborn.
It is easy for the vast majority of Americans to dismiss a movement populated by nutcases...........and IMO, those who say that this President is pro-Life in name only fit that description.
I thank God daily for the man of HIS choosing who is so honorably leading this nation back to being a culture of life. And I wonder if those who don't recognize that aren't the real ones who are pro-life in name only.
You kill me. Are you so dense that you think that sheer brute force will reverse Roe v Wade?
First, we have to pass a "test case" law that is so limited, so narrow, so Constitutionally perfect that we can get a favorable Supreme Court ruling. That step was accomplished with President Bush signing our ban on Partial Birth Abortion (something that your organization couldn't manage to get done).
Next, we have to add at least two new conservative Supreme Court Justices. Putting a test case in front of the existing left-wing court, now that Sandra Day O'Conner has flipped sides, would actually SET BACK our pro-life efforts by another generation.
This means that *anyone*, especially people like you, who favors bringing Roe v Wade challenges now, before we've changed the personnel on the Supreme Court, is actually someone who is pursuing a path that will HARM ALL PRO-LIFE EFFORTS.
Moreover, attacking President Bush for "not being pro-life" when President Bush has made numerous pro-life moves (see below), leads one to believe that you are actually a left-wing troll wearing right-wing attire.
Banned Partial Birth Abortion
Reversed Clinton's move to strike Reagan's anti-abortion Mexico Policy
Stopped foreign aid that would be used to fund abortions.
Supported and upheld the ban on abortions at military hospitals
Signed E.O. reversing Clinton's policy of not requiring parental consent for abortions under the Medical Privacy Act
Thank you. And the best part is, not one pro-lifer's precious time was taken up compiling it! Life is sweet when the enemy does your work for you.
