I later stated that it looked differently after watching the video slowed down. Nice manners...

Sorry for my bad manners. It's just that there are so many lurkers on this site I don't know who to trust. I wonder why none of the msm have reported on this yet, not even Fox.

Just like Al Gore, Kerry is foremost an actor. He's a poser, and loves to work the public with appearances of righteousness, etc. But that's all it is, an act, a show, an appearance.

I'll believe that when Ed Gillespie makes the accusation. That means he will have verified the video with outside experts. Until that happens, all this does is help Drudge get listeners to his show. Perceptions are important. While this one may not hurt much, another subpar performance by Bush, and the snowball rolls further down the hill.I agree. Bush needs to rest the day before a debate. Just as we all would before a test or an interview.

Are we sure it wasn't his magic hat from the CIA man he took into Cambodia? After all, he might want that on the podium for good luck.

I saw him take the pen out before the debate started, but my recollection is that he was facing full forward when he reached into his pocket and took it out. At the time, I thought to myself that bringing out even a pen was against the rules.

It makes a hell of lot of difference when the President is coming, especially if you are FEMA or some other Gov. organization. You are wrong and I love Bush for being here. I don't care about the stupid debates. The man has been doing a fantastic job.I will grant you that if Florida stays in the Bush column in November, it may turn out that he could have afforded to visit folks prior to the debate. But I have to ask, with organizations like FEMA tailor-made to handle emergencies such as hurricanes, is it strictly necessary for the President to rush down to the scene of devastion as soon as the weather will allow a helicopter to land?
I remember going up against libs in school who called Bush the Elder cold-hearted for not visiting hurricane victims first-thing during THAT election year. "Is it really necessary for the President of the United States to hold every hand after every disaster? What do we have the National Guard and FEMA for?"
I wonder how he even stays awake with all of the time he has been putting in.
I think this is Sinkspur's point exactly. Let the President rest and defeat Kerry in the debate. Let FEMA do their job and handle the emergencies they were created to handle until the President can make it to the scene.

I understand the people who were actually there saw a different debate and when away thinking Bush killed oh skerry. It was the TV audience that saw things differently. That's great news. Myself, I listened on the radio and missed the whole notecard pass. So that's a third medium in play. I thought the President sounded way off his game. "What ishappening up there?" I remember thinking.

On 770 WABC Liberal Brian Whitman is reporting he "recalls" President Bush also pulled out a cheat sheet. A "Republican" caller named "Eddy" called into to "confirm" that he just re-watched the beginning of the debate and Bush also pulled out a cheat sheet.

Looks like they'll have to bring in the TSA to strip-search this bozo before the next debate....

There was a strong hint on another thread that Lehrer fed Kerry the questions ahead of time. Of course he'd be able to answer them smoothly. Perhaps this "debate" was as phony as Dan Rather's story about Bush' conduct at the TANG.

Kerry is right handed? If a man were right handed and he wanted to carry something for easy access, he would put it in his left breast pocket (shirt or jacket). Kerry is seen taking something out of his right breast pocket..awkward if he is right handed but, perfect if he is trying to conceal his actions from an audience to his right.

"At the time, I thought to myself that bringing out even a pen was against the rules."
When watching this originally; we were thinking 'what is he doing' and why is he using the pen like this; making a great play of using it etc. . .laughing that he must be doodling or just pretending; then he seemed to move some of the stuff around as though he had actually written 'something' he could use.
Think it was all a bit of 'smoke and mirrors' so to speak - flourishing the pen; pretending to write - or writing a little; then shuffling his notes ie the pre-written notes etc.
My biggest worry was that he would be given the questions in advance; and I now seriously wonder if he did not have a good idea of them; and the answers necessary to make it all easier.
ONE thing is certain; they lie; they cheat; they steal. . .and worse. These people will never; can never WIN by their own honest merit.
It is beyond disgusting that they are at all successful.
