Polls released Sunday showed the president with a double digit lead over Kerry among likely voters. In technical political terms this is the hunting season, i.e. the season where Kerry’s political staffers start hunting for new jobs. Because unless John Kerry is Demosthenes, he’s not going to make up a 10% deficit in the debates.
How did this happen? It’s simple enough to understand. The republicans put a heck of a show, lining up Schwarzenegger and Giuliani on consecutive nights, and then driving the point home with excellent speeches by Cheney and Bush. The message was that its good to have adults in charge.
In the meantime, Kerry was windsurfing, or wakeboarding, or playing Tony Hawk, or whatever it is that he does that makes him think it’s okay to wear spandex. The democratic convention could only appeal to the likes of Becky and Sean or the parents from that 80’s Michael J. Fox sitcom Family Ties. Wall-to-wall healthcare and Vietnam. Because if you didn’t grow up listening to Jefferson Airplane and don’t suffer from chronic sadness disorder, then you’re no Democrat.

I agree. Very important not to get 'too excited' about polling news like this. If we're going to downgrade the polls when it's in the favor of the liberals, we can't get too excited when it's showing us up either. Must say though, feeling PRETTY good about this regardless...
