"TOM McSELFISH = Gov. BustaMENCHA"

NEVER FORGET

.."TOM McSELFISH =

...Gov. BustaMENCHA"

........was THE Sign to behold at this weekend's California Republican Convention held in Playa Del Rey next to the Los Angeles International Airport. So I did.

...No Convention Endorsement came for California Governor, but a posted Convention Straw Poll showed ARNOLD with nearly ..80%.. of the votes verses a little over ..18%.. for TOM McCLINTOCK.

...No one backed down this weekend, though it was hoped one Candidate for California Governor would, with Recall Election Financier Congressman ISSA watching it all unfold right before his very eyes.

Doctrinal Note on Some Questions Regarding the Participation of Catholics in Political Life

Is this an offical "Ex Cathedra" statment of the church? If so, I would appreciate a source link.

I am curious because I investigated the question of Catholics being told how to vote. I concluded that there no official statements about it, but that there were plenty of radicals giving their opinon as if it were Ex Cathedra.

Not just ex cathedra statements are binding on the faithful.

If so, I would appreciate a source link.

Provide evidence for these claims.

This is the best I can do with my limited skills, time and ability to analyze stats, but here's what I came up with......

In the first place, I found links in my search to why Perot appealed to conservative voters, and one that even linked a Bush hating rant at FR in 1998, as to why he voted for xlinton because he was a 'true conservative!' LOL!

Anyway......I looked at the state of Wyoming, because it's a conservative state.

In 1992 this was the voter registration.....

Republican.....125,363 or roughly 60%
Democrat.....83,091, or 39.8%
Libertarian.....78.... not very many, poor fellows

Now..... the voting breakdown in the Presidential election was as follows.....

GHW Bush......39.6%
Clinton.......34%
Perot......25.6%

That means that if the percentages hold even roughly, Perot took less than 6% of the Democrat vote away, and nearly 20% away from Bush.

As I said, I'm not a statistical analyst, but it's very obvious that Perot drew Republican votes away in far greater numbers than Democrat.

Conservatives voting for Perot gave us Bill Clinton.

In Wyoming, yes---one of the least populous states, and, judging from the registration disparity, unrepresentative of the nation as a whole. Can you give me your link to the Wyoming data so I can try to springboard to data from other states?

Also note that not all Republicans are conservatives, and that Bush won Wyoming, so Wyoming does not support the claim that conservatives threw the election to Clinton by voting for Perot.

I'd rather have Bustamante than Schwarzenegger because while Bustamante would serve to UNITE Republicans and we can regroup to fight another day, Arnold will undoubtedly DESTROY the Republican Party in California for decades!

Ah, I see you rushed headlong past the obvious point I made, to try to make it an Arnold vs. Tom thing.

This isn't an Arnold vs. Tom thing, as much as you and your stable mates would like to make it that. This is an issue that will ultimately determine the direction and the future existence of the Republican Party.

Personally, I don't care one iota who Kalifornians elect as governor. Kalifornia could fall into the ocean, for all I care.

This issue is much bigger than that. For you to purposely ignore it should be embarrassing to you, Ronnie.

so Wyoming does not support the claim that conservatives threw the election to Clinton by voting for Perot.

Of course not......

Don't mean to be nasty here, but find your own links. That took me a long time to research, and when I came up with the (overwhelming) stats, you dismissed them as meaningless anyway.........not surprisingly, but frankly, I thought more of you than that.

Be well, MrLeRoy.

when I came up with the (overwhelming) stats

Stats from one low-population state are NOT "overwhelming." The claim that conservatives threw the election to Clinton by voting for Perot remains weakly supported.

The claim that conservatives threw the election to Clinton by voting for Perot remains weakly supported.

Especially considering that Bush WON Wyoming.
