NEVER FORGET
.."TOM McSELFISH =
...Gov. BustaMENCHA"
........was THE Sign to behold at this weekend's California Republican Convention held in Playa Del Rey next to the Los Angeles International Airport. So I did.
...No Convention Endorsement came for California Governor, but a posted Convention Straw Poll showed ARNOLD with nearly ..80%.. of the votes verses a little over ..18%.. for TOM McCLINTOCK.
...No one backed down this weekend, though it was hoped one Candidate for California Governor would, with Recall Election Financier Congressman ISSA watching it all unfold right before his very eyes.

Many liberals like him too, for his liberal policies.
Many liberals like him too, for his good looks.
Many liberals like him too, for his money.
Many liberals like him too, for his movies.
Arnold can make no claim on conservative votes and it is unwise to demand them for him. He hasn't...he WON'T earn them and doesn't deserve them.
I like him too...but such pure emotional pulp isn't enough to deserve a vote.

That should tell you something.
If you, like '68 agree, leave conservatives out of it. We've done the work, if you think you can, steal the reward, once again bar the conservatives from California politics and reap what you sow.
You obviously haven't had enough pain and suffering in California to understand how badly conservatism is needed.

<< You're out of control. >>
Nope.
I'm a Republican.
What's more, I am a Republican who understands that politics is the art of the achievable.
That only my Lord Jesus Christ, among men, was ever perfect.
That redemption is a fact of life.
That Arnold, although far FRom being a perfect American Man is a perfectly-electable American Republican.
Is OUR electable American Republican.
That McJeffords' is but a cog in California's DemocRepublicRAT political establishment.
And, as much as we like him, that a vote for him is a nail in Republicanism's coffin -- and advances America's demise.

You ignore the many conservatives who realized they made a big mistake by voting for NON CONSERVATIVE Ross Perot (he EARNED your votes??......give me a break!! And the little general is now a 'whipping boy???' LOL!!).
Many conservatives realized that they wanted to punish GHW Bush, and unwittingly helped elect a debauched and dangerous man with their vote.
You lose the debate, Maelstrom, because you ignore history.
But, it's been swell talking with you. Perhaps there are lurkers reading our discussion whose minds aren't sealed like a tomb as yours is.......who don't excuse stupidity by falsely labeling it 'prinicple.' I've been around here long enough to know that what some of you call 'conscience' is just old fashioned arrogance and bull headedness.
However.....there IS a difference in the California vote than the 92 Presidential vote, because, unlike GHW Bush, who had many conservative principles and made a few decisions you ultras hated (like the fact that he believed in a strong military, which you conservative boys in your anger over assault weapons, actually helped destroy by helping to elect xlinton), Schwartzenegger has very few conservative principles, and some moderate, and actually is much closer to what you accuse him of being.....a Republican liberal.
My suggestion for you.......... move to a better state.......
IMO, California has gone beyond the ability to elect a true Conservative. If you won't settle for Schwartzenegger, you'll be stuck with a racist, left wing extremist.
For me the choice would be obvious. Have a nice life, Maelstrom.

Thank you for saying that.
He seems to be fixated on sexuality, while ignoring that xlinton was beyond debauched, and a danger and threat to America.

If it is so easy to debate me, then let's have some specific arguments - your insults and namecalling are showing your TRUE COLORS.
To: ohioWfan
Ross Perot (he EARNED your votes??
No, Ross Perot was able to *pretend* to be conservative. Something Bush couldn't do.
And the little general is now a 'whipping boy???
No, conservative voters who don't vote for liberal Republicans are being treated as a whipping boy.
You lose the debate, Maelstrom, because you ignore history.
History is replete with liberal Republican failures, Bill Clinton was one, Gray Davis another. You elect liberal Republican who implement liberal policies and then blame conservative Republicans when they lose elections. To me, people who follow this historical pattern have a mental deficiency that should be corrected immediately.
IMO, California has gone beyond the ability to elect a true Conservative.
Then California has become a 3rd world nation. Aztlan is yours. It's still extremely odd to me that people can hold the opinion that the state has gone beyond the ability to elect a conservative (the qualifier "true" is unnecessary because it doesn't exist). California hasn't even *attempted* to provide a conservative candidate. Simon, while conservative, had a number of problems that not all conservatives have...other than perhaps the unmitigated hatred to the point of betrayal by RINOs within the GOP establishment.
Despite all of those drawbacks, he still came very close to beating Davis. People like you seize upon his loss as some sort of proof conservatism is unwanted. Well, I'm here to tell you that Arnold's upcoming failures will represent far more significant reasons to say the same about California Republicans in general.

This is a problem for all Arnold supporters.
There aren't any valid arguments by which a Conservative could be swayed to vote for him.
The only thing remaining is:
Vote Arnold Against California

I now believe that this State is almost devoid of any virtue. I expect that I will be leaving Mexifornia as soon as my circumstances permit. In 10 years, this State will be a third world state with a shattered and ruined economy, a socialist government, and an ignorant government-dependent population.
Our founders setup a dual system of government: Internal governance by self-governing virtuous people, couples with an external government that restrains evil. Since the internal form of government has collapsed (virtue is a forgotten word even), the external is also collapsing as one cannot be sustained without the other. Self-governing people are FREE people but people who are dependent on the government are slaves and serfs. Good-bye sweet republic, hello tyrannical democracy or socialist state.

"Thank you for saying that."Gee, I guessed you missed his previous post to me (#446, now deleted). It was the sickest thing that's ever been posted to me in the nearly 5 years I've been here.
I'm hardly "fixated" on sex, and I found your "what ever floats your boat" comment creepy. I just don't like to see men who treat women like sex toys and dirt rise to power. What people have done in their private lives and pasts matters. It reveals character.
But, it's a free country. You can continue to keep your head in the sand and yell "NOOOOOO, don't tell me!!! I don't want to know!!!!" Thank God, there are still some people paying attention.

I have so much information I could provide you with. Do you EVEN read ANY material regarding 9-11? I did not specifically mention 911. What are you talking about?
Perhaps you would like to respond to ANY of the 13 points I listed as to why Republicans no longer represent my interests? Can you deny any of them? Can you deny that under Bush the Federal Govt. has exploded in growth? Can you deny that the Republicans in Congress are wimps when it comes to fighting the liberals (the evidence says they are)? Can you deny that Bush is a globalist who sucks up to the U.N. (he just went crawling to the jew-hating U.N. asking for their help in Iraq!). Bush also does NOTHING about our borders (I loathe globalists). Do you think I am the only one who has fled the Republican party over these issues? Think again! There are millions of us!
Yeah, I'll wait for your arguments. Let's see what you got. I hope it's more substantive than blind loyalty to a failed party.
To: Maelstrom
No, Ross Perot was able to *pretend* to be conservative. Something Bush couldn't do. Right......because he's an HONEST MAN WITH PRINCIPLES!!! Ross Perot is not a whipping boy (remember it is YOU who claimed that). He's a dishonest little twit who deceived you, and you fell for it because you were MAD at GHW. But apparently don't have the guts to admit you made a big mistake, nor take responsiblity for the consequences of that mistake......
(How very liberal of you to keep blaming someone else for YOUR fault.....)
Welll.......enough of your contorted logic, evasion of your own responsibility, and twisting of conversation.
You just go ahead and vote for anybody you want to. Go on living in your I'm-better-than-you-because-I'm-a-conservative-with-principles dreamworld.
I'm just thankful that there are only a handful of bullheaded guys like you, so that George W Bush is going to get the votes of every conservative who can SEE straight, even though we don't agree with everything he's done....... That won't include you, I'll bet.
In the mean time this little 'conversation' is REALLY over now. Have a nice life.

No Convention Endorsement came for California Governor, but a posted Convention Straw Poll showed ARNOLD with nearly ..80%.. of the votes verses a little over ..18%.. for TOM McCLINTOCK. This is an unsourced poll, of course, but if it's even close to accurate, it's more a reason to drop out of the Republican Party, than to vote for the actor.
When the Republican Party prefers a liberal actor with Democrat-leaning beliefs to a conservative candidate, it's all over but the shouting. Come to think of it, shouting seems to be what these Recall threads are reduced to. Hmmmmmmmmmm?

Look.......you were trying to get me to read some link about how debauched Schwartzenegger was, and referred repeatedly to some activities, that I'd rather not even know about......and frankly, I thought it was creepy that you kept bringing it up. I don't know what that deleted post said, and if it was offensive, I'm sorry.
I don't need to be convinced that Arnold was a debauched young man, but IF he has been forgiven by God (which I will never know), it is irrelevant now. His wife has obviously forgiven him.
I still think concentrating on PAST sexual sins misses what is important now. The leftist media brought it up as an attack because they hate the moral stand of Republicans, and pounce on anyone who has strayed.
There are PLENTY of conservative issues to discuss and have trouble with about Arnold. Wouldn't it be best to stick to them?
(And there is still no parallel to xlinton's current debauchery.......which put this country at grave risk while he was in office, and even now).
