Great news.

Were I to counsel Sneaky, I can only refer to Churchill, who faced a much tougher problem... "Never, Never, Never give up."
I have lurked since about 1997 (easy to lose track) and read Sneaky's posts for the last year or so. The 'Bushbot' language misses the point. Many of us who support President Bush are genuine Constitutionalists and intellectually well trained. Do we agree with W all the time? Hardly. Do we understand the difficulties W faces? Not all, but apparently we understand most better than Sneaky. We are not knee-jerk Republicans. We are not robots. Sneaky always seemed, well, irascible.
IMHO, it is generous of the moderators to allow you to post his Parthian shot. In conclusion, I would ask Sneaky to return. Not for the sake of Freeperdom. But for his own. We are all fallible and can learn when we humbly consider other viewpoints with an open mind. Jim Robinson's forum is an ideal place for this. To flee and give up the fight is to acknowledge defeat. Quitters never win and winners never quit.

Ahhh. Careful. You might make a good politician! "I don't know what his position is" is perfectly acceptable, if not a bit disingenuous. However, no one accused you of tailoring your message to fit JR's requirements (if that was actually what you thought). The allegation was that your experience, in which you defended FR, is not at all representative of those of many dissenters.
Having said that, however, they have been reasonable with me personally--perhaps too much.

Sneakypete is a man who knows things that few people at this forum can appreciate. In particular, he knows that the unexpected lies out there, and he knows what it tastes like.
When making plans, a wise leader does not merely fain solicitous-ness; instead, he must find the courage to consider the situations which may present.
Since September 11, 2001, I have tried to find people here who are understanding of the incredibly poor airlift capacity that is [not] available for what the Bush Administration has been planning. I have repeatedly urged members of this forum to think about it, in the hopes that they would contact the Congress and the White House and then urge the increase in logistics support that we need, we will need, and we might need.
Maybe eight people are aware. Four, in only the last few days, when more stories have been posted here, relating the very late arrival of this and that gear for our troops.
We are not prepared to charge into a valley that is surrounded by our enemies. We do not have enough troops in the field. We do not have the airpower. We do not have enough medical help arranged. Our "arsenal of democracy" sits rusting away, or given away in the form of industrial capacity in the hands of our poltiical enemies.
The world is dividing around Iraq, much as it did when Hitler marched on Prague. The lines may here and there seem to be religious, but really, it is a matter of noticing the overall division, liberty v. fascist socialism. Naturally, the fascist socialists say that we who support liberty, are the fascists. It will take long time, sorting this out, confronting the animal reluctance to think among those who succumb to socialism; while there is little hope for The Party leaders.
Because I know that we cannot expect to follow our timetable of events, I happen to agree with Sneakypete that our invasion of Iraq is not wise at this time. As I said, he knows the taste of the unexpected.

Why can't people just leave without wanting to pee on the carpet?Notice me, notice me, notice me. Beg me to stay since I'm so smart and know everything, beg me, beg me. Now you know...
I've agreed with SP on a few items, disagreed with him on many items, but I never thought he wouldn't have the spine to stand up and defend his position, no matter how ridiculous.

Dude, you've been banned more than that eschoir fellow - don't be a pussy and just take your cooler time. Suck up? Yeah - suck up. Non-bomb happy folks like myself need all the tactical air support one can get in these crazy times.

To write a whole article on why (as if anyone cares)wreaks of vanity and ego.
Actually, it "reeks" of vanity and ego.

OWK did indeed start the "opus". I think I still have the "link" saved, in my webtv "favorites". I kept it for the longest time out of sentiment, I guess. It doesn't work anymore because we have gone through so many server changes, etc. here at FR, though. That was an entertaining thread.
To: Jhoffa_
I'm not sure who coined the term "opus" for the final farewells that so grip FR periodically. But Don Morgan certainly hammered the concept; I believe he posted at least two dozen "This is the last you'll hear from ME" threads. Finally, one of them was right.
And no, Don Morgan is not Navigator.

Yes, and I don't use neologisms in order to be pretentious.

I just read the entire thread in question. Sneakypete took quite a beating, to say the least, from Mad Ivan, and I don't see why only SP was suspended, as the insults were hurled back and forth.
I didn't see the entire comment in #160, however, but only the pieces of it quoted back to him.

Some or most of the keywords for this thread tend to prove your point Sneakypete.

Oh, BS.
Sneakypete's opinion of war--this war or any war--is not gold-plated and beyond tarnish or challenge. He doesn't get a free ride. If he can sustantiate his criticisms, fine. But all he has been doing is taking a contrarian's/libertarian's "hate the gubmint" kneejerk approach to this thing. That doesn't take any brains at all.
He's starting to sound like that fruitcake Harry Browne, or even Noam Chomsky. Even Bill Clinton would be high-fiving him.

Goodbye Pete. I am going to miss your thoughtful input. You were one of the top 10 posters on this site. I second everything you said. There are some good people on this site but the mindless Bushbots outnumber them 10 to 1. Hooah!
