I saw that happen. The OP realized that there was already a thread to the same topic of interest. But still there were conversations and sentiments being also shared in this second post too and it is rude to just shut it off like that. Doesn't anyone know how to just "forward" any new comments to the older thread? It is not rocket science and only take minimal effort... I can teach you how... That way those conversations are not lost to the wind...
Does anyone care about the members here and have customer appreciation? Or is the arrogance so great that we should feel lucky you even allow us to participate here? If it is the later you are wrong and that is a mistaken perspective. That arrogance will be the downfall of this domain in the end.

Well...it is definitely a hot-button issue. I wasn’t going to discuss the point further, because I know what I see when I login. The other poster is of the opinion I am making this up, which I am not.
A positive indication that I am not manufacturing this out of thin air for me is that someone keeping a list shared with me these kinds of people they see posting the same kinds of TDS stuff, and lo and behold, they were many of the exact same people.
I log onto Free Republic often enough and use, instead of “AI”, “RLI” as in rlmorel intelligence to see patterns. If other people like you see it, that is good enough for me to feel that I am over the target.
The funniest thing.. these idiots blaming “FR tradition” (VKs and Zot Pings) for donations down, and people leaving so such BS..
The donations being down and people leaving are because of people like the complainer, TDSers, Zeepers, etc.. (With the moderation from 1 rogue moderator that must have been offended in a Zeeper thread, or something) shadow-banning the good guys, while letting the actual trolls run around (like the ones in this thread) harassing others, stalking others thread to thread, disrupting FR...
THAT is what is pushing people away.

That is my beef with the OP's assertions—the crepehanging (aaaaauuuggghh! it's all gonna diiiiiiiiiiiie!) and overgeneralization about what appears to have arisen from a personal incident. Since Jim surrendered the mortal coil, I had one post unjustifiably zotted with no explanation when I inquired. But I figured that whenever a company has some new folks in the various roles, there are going to be a few bumps in the road. It would never occur to me to get on here and grouse and predict utter doom because my one thread out of thousands was axed.
Sometimes people get set in their ways as they age. There's a way to stimulate change in a healthy direction through encouraging, making CONSTRUCTIVE suggestions, asking open-ended questions, good humor, tactfulness, etc. Denunciations and doom-predictions are a strange way to handle grief that some conditions in our life that we counted on have changed and now things are sometimes unpredictable.
It would seem only natural that many would leave when the leadership changed. FR's tiers of members from the old, original days are also now dying off; and I would like to see some innovations in outreach to younger audiences and have some ideas about that.
There are possible reasons why the "Under New Management" team is not more forthcoming or accessible. I hope if they are reading this, that they are feeling the love from the many—the majority—of those posting here and greatly appreciating the opportunity FR provides.
With regard to "attack" behavior, I do think times have changed in society, and not in a good way. The difference in what is considered acceptable debate and reasonably good manners has changed dramatically in this country over the past several decades. You can almost tell who is an old-timer still posting in their 70s and 80s and those who are younger, students, still working, etc. by the way they handle language and the tendency to snark rather than communicate through a misunderstanding. People who are not yet retired don't usually have much time to be on here frequently; and the Gens X, Y, & Z cohort have been dumbed down by the accelerating changes in education (away from logic, reason and rhetoric towards indoctrination), and also by the twitterfication of online commentary—the “40 characters or less” rule of early Twitter has had a long half-life in online culture.

I have never in the history of the FR seen anyone break the FR rules like you do and still get away with it. I now suspect you are a deceptive mask for Chris or another FR family member. Only someone close to the owner who had nothing to worry about would abuse the rules and the other members of this community the way you do. “I can break the rules all I want, I own it” is the impression I have gotten for a looooong time now.
If so face me face to face with real identity and let’s talk honesty and integrity without the two faced backstabbing and run cowardice crap you pull. You accuse me of this, when you are actually the master of the practice. I got to hand it to you though... You have been able to make yourself famous as the biggest asshole on the internet on many other forums now. Be proud... That is quite an achievement...
But it does not make folks want to come here just to be abused by you and your sadistic arrogance... Or donate to be abused by you and your personal sadistic fetishes. And this is exactly the problem that is costing the FR community.
Look it is simple... The real problem is moderators base their reasoning on petty personal crap. They need to grow up and be professional is all. Jim was a professional, they are foolish amateurs and making the place look bad compared to when Jim was on the board...

I care about the tone around here in general. There’s a time and place for “in your face”, and the public forum usually isn’t it.
