Finnish President Alexander Stubb says he exchanges messages with Prime Minister Mark Carney almost every day.
Stubb is in Ottawa for his first official bilateral meetings with Canada's prime minister. The pair are working to develop trade and defence ties, according to Carney's office.
"With shared interests, values and a commitment to international security, I look forward to hosting President Stubb to deepen our partnership to create stability, security and prosperity for both our peoples," Carney wrote in a statement.

Carney has called the Trump administration's weaponization of trade through the use of tariffs a "rupture" to the global order.
While Stubb doesn't use the same "tough language" as Carney, he does believe a transformation is taking place.
"I think foreign policy and diplomacy is never completely binary. It's not black and white, unless we go into war," he said.
"We agree on the fact that the world order is changing."
While that change may be coming, for now, Finland and Canada must maintain their relationship with the U.S., particularly regarding security, Stubb said.
Carney is a lousy PM like Starmer.
I’m am so sick of countries cruising on the US taxpayers.
But being a Canadian apologist, I will remind you that this started because
Canada refused to patrol our joint border harder.
Canada refused to drop their ridiculous tariffs on products in part because of them being bought by unions.
Trump started to attack Canada after that.
Fact is, Canada is full of woke retards with TDS.
So nope, Canada needs to own the fact they are screwed up before the US entered the equation. However, Canucks can never accept the possibility they are wrong.
Carney delusionally believes he has power on a global stage. He doesn’t.
This is a huge amount of US hatred and smugness of the Canadians in Large cities.
Before this I never thought of Snow Mexico, after this I will never step foot in the country even tho they have some spectacular parks.
We now also own HOCKEY, lol
Why?
Why?
You mean it isn’t now?

Trump played into Carney’s hand, with Carney defending himself as as MCGA populist - make Canada great again. Using Trump’s own playbook, he made himself and Canada come out as the “underdogs” against the big bad bully to the south. It does not matter what truth there is or is not in that, in terms of Canadian public sentiment. Entering the election Carney’s favorability rating was about 44%. Now it is closer to 60%, primarily on his “defending Canada” themes.
Trump could have pushed not for tariffs but for a total no-tariffs either way with Canada. That would have been received positively in Canada and backed more strongly by Canadian conservatives than the Liberals.
I think Trump helped get Carney elected, and has been helping Carney play the Canadian nationalist theme to Carney’s benefit - no matter how woke he is.
If we really wanted a better more open trade relationship with Canada we should have promoted it directly, not tried to force them into less restrictive trade with punitive tariffs - which has hit U.S. domestic auto makers most of all. And offsetting those tariffs is not being met with more U.S. suppliers, but other foreign alternatives to the Canadian suppliers. So much for “bringing it all home”.
Trump could have brought the U.S. and Canada closer. Instead he’s done the opposite.
Canada will join the European Union and together they will claim their moral superiority and boast of perceived economic power.
And the nanosecond the EU is threatened by Russia, China, or whatever Mullah - they will come running to Uncle Sam to protect them.
I think this Canada- EU flirtation has less to do with military or economic reasons, and much more to do with their with goals for global socialism.
No, it will be part of India or China.
Stuff like this should help people understand why Russia had to act in Ukraine as it did. If Canada continues on its genocidal, repressive, autocratic course and keeps buddying up with anti-US forces, the time will come when the US will have no choice but to invade it. Every declaration of US ‘invincibility’ is premised on the assumption that an anti-US alliance cannot simply build up a large military force right on our northern or southern border with impunity.
The US tolerates extra-hemispheric powers in the Caribbean because they pose no real military or economic threat, and Canada being part of the British Empire was tolerated although the Brits had no illusions during and after the US Civil War about what would happen to Canada in the event of a conflict. Canada joining the EU is something else.
My guess is Carney's high handed socialist kookery will lead to independence movements in some provinces. Quebec's won't start up again unless Canada loses the Albertan money teat, in which case the cash Ottawa showers on Quebec might dry up. Or the US can offer to buy all the hydro power Quebec can deliver and look the other way if Hydro Quebec floods "First Nations" land to get it.
You laugh but Cal and Stanford are now members of the Atlantic Coast Conference.
Canada and the EU : United by leftist stupidity and a desire for White Replacement.
One has to understand the both Alberta and Saskatchewan Provinces are going to be voting on leaving the Confederation of Canada. Historically Quebec has tried to leave, but not a quite a while. Also even farther back in history some of the Maritime provinces were not that thrilled about the Confederation.
So the question is.....what would the EU acquire? Where would the departing provinces go or would they become totally independent nations?
Sorry, but Canada already gave China first dibs.
Well then it’s like Guam or Puerto Rico.
The Club of Rome might complain. They’ve gone to alot of effort to assist the future ‘Beast’ of the Book of Revelation. They long ago divided up the world up into Ten economic zones. Canada is region 1 along with the USA.
“And there are seven kings: five are fallen, and one is, and the other is not yet come; and when he cometh, he must continue a short space. And the beast that was, and is not, even he is the eighth, and is of the seven, and goeth into perdition. And the ten horns which thou sawest are ten kings, which have received no kingdom as yet; but receive power as kings one hour with the beast.” - Revelation 17:10-12
Doubtful. Trump imposed the tariffs because Canadians wouldn't drop theirs.
“Doubtful. Trump imposed the tariffs because Canadians wouldn’t drop theirs. “
Not true. Negotiations with Canada over tariffs were ongoing and considered “cordial” from February 2025 thru October 2025.
Then in a fit of personal pique, Trump announced an end to negotiations in October 2025 after a television ad, funded by the Ontario provincial government (not the national government), criticized U.S. tariff policy. Childish reaction and downhill from there.
Pansys of a feather......
