Hours after Leo XIV became pope in May, Trump confidant and conspiracy theorist Laura Loomer posted a brief message on social media. It said: “WOKE MARXIST POPE.”
She was not the only member of the American right to immediately cast Leo as a culture war villain. Steve Bannon, a Catholic and former altar boy, called him the “worst pick for Maga Catholics” and described his election as a victory for “the globalists that run the Curia”.
You might expect Donald Trump’s Maga base to embrace the first American pope. His administration is stacked with officials who speak proudly of their faith, including vice-president JD Vance. But the criticism of Leo only intensified as he took up the mantle of his predecessor, Pope Francis, on the climate crisis, inequality and migration.

Leo now has entered the political fray. Its only fair to ask him if as a long time Chicago resident, did he vote for the pro abortionObama, Pritzker, Durbin , Johnson and other killer Democrats. It would say volumes about his core values.If he admits he did vote for these demon Democrats, he should resign immedeatly.
If I remember my church history correctly, whose side was the Pope on during the Crusades - you know when the ‘religion’ of hate, rape, woman hatred,lies, and goat boinking first started their standard practice of lowering the standards of every civilization that they shat upon?
In Sunday school. Did you not sing: “Jesus loves the little children, all the children of the world?” and memorize the “The golden rule: love your neighbor as yourself” and “Pray for bad people, Jesus died for them too” and “Feed the hungry, clothe the naked” did you not have food & clothing drives for the poor?
All this “Word of God” stuff is the what people here are mad at Pope Leo about. Not abortion, not LGBT pandering, but the above.

And Leo is praying for peace everywhere including Ukraine and Sudan which he mentioned by name yesterday. Lebanon has a lot of Catholics being displaced right now.

Leo is at war with the Word of God because he seems to excuse both sin and crime, and totally blows off the Old Testament view requiring God’s people to defend their neighbors by executing justice based on facts without showing partiality either to rich or to the poor. God’s love is both justice and mercy. You can’t have mercy without justice.
By refusing to speak Scriptural truth clearly to a world that has no clue what it even means and to instead support people whose worldviews directly contradict Scripture, he is consigning a whole generation to Hell, unless somebody who knows the Bible better is able to talk sense to them.
The Kingdom of God is not the same thing as the “Kingdom of Niceness”. We need to speak the truth in love. He seems to think niceness is love and totally neglacts the “speaking the truth” part.
The “woke” messages he gives remind me of the false shepherds of Israel that God blasts in Ezekiel 33-34.
The crusades were lesson learned. Hence the call for peace and rebuke of Hegseth for bringing Christianity as a front for military warfare and preemptive bombing.
Did it bother you that Pope Woke I and Pope Woke II have done virtually nothing to use their office to broker a peace between Russia and Ukraine, ostensibly two Christian countries?
So the action against the terrorist state of Iran is a new Tenth Crusade to free the holy land?
King David wasn’t allowed to build the temple because he was a ‘man of war’ who had shed much blood. Solomon did. His name means peace.
There is a time for war. And when there is; you pray for God’s mercy and your own soul. And STILL pray for your enemies. God takes no pleasure in the death of the wicked.
This wasn’t Pearl Harbor that’s the real problem. It’s debatable whether this Iran attack constitutes a just war.
The message of Christ is much, much more than “Be good people.”
It is a message of sin, repentance, atonement through Christ’s innocent blood shed on our behalf, sanctification, and the ministry of reconciliation.
To claim that objections to what he’s saying are just good ol’ racism you have to judge the hearts of the people here - which totally goes against the “be nice to everybody” religion you’re talking about. And that gets to the crux of Trump’s complaint too: why the selective “love”/care? Why think only the best & trying to be “good” (cough) to criminals and tyrants, and ignoring the innocent and truly oppressed that don’t fit the “woke” narrative?
God is actually already working INSIDE Iran given that it has the fastest growing church in the world. He is already fighting on behalf of His people there…He doesn’t call on Christians to kill people to spread the Gospel. That’s Islam!
From a secular standpoint; was it really in our interest to get involved militarily NOW? Could we have played hardball another way? It’s more questionable than if they had pulled off a Pearl Harbor…

Hegseth can be blasphemous. That is his problem. But the Pope is in foreign territory that jeopardizes the church.

I posted a thread earlier about Iran having the fastest growing church in the world.
The Gospel is advancing. God’s warriors are already there with some already have or are dying for the faith. But even still nowhere in the Gospels does it say we advance Christ’s kingdom with the sword. Even the Old Testament battles ultimately had spiritual implications NOT geopolitical.
Military affairs IS geopolitical - the realm of Caesar. And there is a way of praying that doesn’t blur the Gospel and make us sound like Muslims on jihad… 😕

Why doesn’t Leo want the Iranian people to be free? Why does he care nothing about the girls who aren’t eligible to be executed (for simply peacefully protesting) because they’re virgins so the Islamic regime routinely rapes them first before executing them? Why does he claim that our destruction of the regime and its assets is evil?
By implying that war is always evil or that the long arm of the law is evil or unloving he’s writing off half of the Bible. Who does he think he is?
St Paul says the government does not bear the sword in vain but is to punish the evil and protect the innocent. What does Leo think that means?
What does he think it means when Paul describes in Romans 1:18-32 to a T - the very “wokism” that Leo seems to defend, concluding by saying that what is even worse than the depravity of those who DO those things is the depravity of those who APPROVE OF THOSE WHO DO THEM?
