Paternity Fraud Is 'Like a Pandora's Box' and 'One of Society's Last Taboo Subjects'

Campaigners say the true rate of paternity fraud - the intentional misidentification of a child's biological father - remains unknown

Men are being left heartbroken after investing time, resources, love and energy into raising children they believed were theirs - only to find out it was all a lie.

This breach of trust not only impacts the men who were falsely led to believe they were fathers but also deeply hurts the children involved and others connected to the situation.

Paternity fraud refers to the deliberate misidentification of a child's biological father. One of the most shocking aspects of this issue is that no one seems to have a clear understanding of its true extent.

How many men are unknowingly playing the role of father - oblivious that their lives could be shattered at any moment? The brutal reality leaves victims questioning their identities and feeling crushed - often wondering how they ended up in such a situation.

Statistics on the percentage of men affected by paternity fraud in the UK vary dramatically according to different studies. Figures vary, with a 2018 study from the University of Warwick estimating 3% and a 2021 study from the University of Oxford suggesting 1%.

Conversely, in one striking study by DNA Clinics, a subsidiary of the BioClinics Group in Salford, looking at 5,000 results randomly selected from January 2014 to June 2016, found that a staggering 48% of the men tested were not the biological father.

Putting the interests of the children first its a no brainer that paternity testing should be mandatory in order for a father to be designated on a birth certificate. There are tests that can be done during the 1st trimester about this too.

And think of the children who get screwed the most when their real dad is unknown and when the man lied to by their real mom has checked out emotionally & most often abandons the ship that he only boarded due to fraud.

Twelve generations ago the feudal lord had what is known as the right of first night - droit du seignoir. Some of those nights could have resulted in pregnancy. Once again, it was the woman who suffered, not the man.

"that grandpa was" their brother....

If you do any genealogy you will find cases where the birth certificate lists another name, frequently the brother. Women were shunned when they got pregnant especially if it was a powerful or important person. The girl would put her brother down as the father but the DNA shows it really was the master of the house where she was working.

Yes, sometimes it is the older brother who takes advantage of the younger sister. I've known cases of older brothers paying for therapy years later for their sisters. The psychological trauma is even worse when it's the father.

Exactly.

You would think Elon could better protect his family jewels.

Well, if it is even his baby, that is.

So many here advocating mandatory paternity tests.

I don't need government employee Shaniqua at the state-run paternity lab to tell me that my four kids are mine. I can tell just by looking at them.

Thanks to countless eons of evolutionary biology, men are capable of recognizing their offspring. The men demanding paternity tests are the ones who look at their kids and know in their hearts that they are not the fathers. Again, evolutionary biology at work.

Do we really need another government agency?

Get a paternity test if you want. I don't need one.

And cost the lives of hundreds of thousands, too. Safe AND effective! Right?

I’m betting the millions you’re talking about were going to be okay about 80% of the time.

Yeah I dated a girl from a really bad family

She was right out of the church choir

At church every day that the public services happened

She was like handling unstable dynamite 🧨🧨🧨🧨🧨 or nitroglycerin

Why should he?

Well, he's never had just one child with any women. He likes to have multiple.

But this is the first woman from the U.S. he has had a child with. Three Canadians and one Brit.

It is very controversial whether that is true or now. Feminists believe it is true, but other scholars don’t believe that happened.

It's debated but the "right of first night" appears to be a myth.

In that city the nobles had a lot of illegitimate children (something like 17% of their children were "out of wedlock"), but the men often saw to it that their sons were set up with an occupation. In my ancestors' case it was architects/stone masons.

The one who had 4 illegitimate children had none by a wife. Maybe the mother was a long-time mistress...perhaps someone he couldn't marry because she was not from a noble family.

He's never had a child with any woman who took him to court, after he had a child with her.
And he's never had a child with a Brit.
He only married Tallulah Riley twice, no children. Personally, I think he should have a child with Tallulah, but hey what do I now?

“ So the woman is the slut but the guy is a stud .”

I don’t see anyone saying that.

I see people concerned for the man who is being raped financially and emotionally by raising the child of some asshole and a whore who pretends to be a faithful wife.
