Famed astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson, often outspoken for his liberal viewpoints, has continued to fuel speculation that he's veering right.
In a Thursday X post, Dr Tyson showed off an image of his wife's bullet-riddled target paper from their trip to a shooting range in Nevada.
On the surface, it would seem like a perfectly innocent post taking pride in his wife, Alice Young, after their day of target shooting.
That post comes less than two weeks after Tyson triggered a liberal meltdown on social media after posing with one of Trump's Make America Great Again hats.
Tyson, an astrophysicist, writer, and media personality, has never openly supported President Trump and has often opposed conservatives on issues like transgender rights and climate change awareness.
Despite that, some of Tyson's left-leaning fans on social media saw the seemingly pro-gun tweet as another sign the 66-year-old is shifting to the right.
Tyson is the director of the Hayden Planetarium at the American Museum of Natural History in New York City, a position he has held since 1996.
He has authored numerous books, including The Pluto Files in 2009 and Astrophysics for People in a Hurry in 2017, which popularized complex scientific concepts.
Tyson has been a prominent science communicator, gaining widespread fame through media appearances and hosting various educational programs devoted to space. He current co-hosts the podcast StarTalk, blending science with pop culture.

I have grown to like his videos as he communicates well.
Don’t know or care about his politics. He appears to be an atheist like many in the scientific community. So he’s not very deep but can be helpful in understanding some topics although he is not my go to guy on science.
Welcome to the Trump Train, Neil.
Yes, CS was great at what he did. I remember him during the 1980s taking a strong public stand against nuclear weapons because of his concern that mankind would use them and end up destroying life on the planet. And yes, NdGT comes off as very personable during his TV interviews.
“He’s not America’s most famous scientist.”
No, Bill Nye is America’s most famous scientist. /pSyche
He’s an idiot - To listen to him melts brain cells.
Like any good lemming, he’s rolling to the power of MAGA, not ideas of MAGA.
Could be weight loss drugs. Now that you both say that, his face is usually a bit more round. Or it could be he works so hard at being contrarian and spiteful it’s taking a toll on his health.
Never heard of him.

Local city host “forums” which have speakers to do talks , (usually to coincide with a book tour ).
I had worked these events numerous times over the years , most speakers do about 45 mins to an hour , sometimes a little longer, nobody ever exceeded 2 hrs.
This clown shows up and did 4 hours. He was probably hoping some soccer moms would over indulge in wine coolers. Little did he know the bar is only open for the first hour.
Four hours of bloviating . Insufferable..
DUmmies on DU were encouraging the same thing.
deGrasse: the next generation
Oh yes. Leftists killed over 200 million last century.
They aren’t any nicer this century
BULLCRAP
He is a smug self serving arrogant who uses his melanin as a crutch to hide his mediocrity. He is a showman using “the current big thing” to act like he is hip and cool. He reads a script on his programs and when confronted with unscripted interviews he has zero idea what he is talking about. He is another “smart person” who can’t define what a woman is.
“He’s not America’s most famous scientist.”
He’s so famous he’s INfamous.
Yep, a pompous ass in my opinion. Listening to him speak is like fingernails on a chalkboard to me.
But if true, he is of course very welcome as are all true MAGA supporters. The more the better. Hopefully the MAGA supporters becomes the overwhelming majority.
I recommend the AR-15 (Breaks Dow Easy), BTW.
